Okay... HOT TAKE...

Lando Calrissian is largely superfluous beyond The Empire Strikes Back.

He serves no unique purpose in Return Of The Jedi and everything could have happened without him.

 

Maybe a thread exists for this already or should be created, since we're kinda getting off topic, but...

What film would she even be mentioned in? Revenge of the Sith is the only contender, in my opinion. And even then, that movie is so chock full of other things that I think it's reasonable enough that she isn't mentioned.

The final TCW season did a pretty good job wrapping things up. We see Ahsoka worked into some off screen dialogue during ROTS's timeline, so we know that the was still a factor in universe- it's just that the lens of the movie itself isn't focused on her.



Anyway, to keep this on topic- my hot take (and I may have written this here before) is that Star Wars is so much more about the world building and stories we can create in our heads (in video games, board games, playing with toys, writing fan fiction) than it is about the movies. It's greatest strength is in its canvas it's given to us as fans, even over the masterful epic storytelling.

Although it's not really quite so "hot" as the Lando one I don't think. It's been said plenty times before - including by Harrison Ford!

 

Not sure if this is a hot take, but...

Star Wars is best viewed as three linked trilogies rather than a single saga.

It often makes more thematic sense, and allows the audience to appreciate how each trilogy is in some way a product of its own time IRL.

 

Hot take: I’m not interested in more Star Wars movies that aren’t a part of the Skywaller Saga or at least connected to it. I think Lucasfilm should prioritize Disney+ shows instead. Having watched The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Mandalorian and Resistance recently, I really think Star Wars works better in a show format that complements the films.

Also, this isn’t really a hot take, but I think Bad Batch was a weak choice for the next animated series. Focusing on clones after Order 66 is interesting, but the Bad Batch are very weak and generic characters imo. The show could change that, but having seen The Clone Wars finale, I’m content with that era of Star Wars for now. I think focusing on the post ROTJ era would be infinitely more interesting.

Okay... I would have liked to see more romantic interaction in the ST. Poe not getting a kiss from Zorri, Finn not confessing to Rey that he's secretly in Love with her, Rose being dumped off-screen, Rey not telling Finn or Poe about the complicated feelings she obviously does have for Ben Solo.

Geez.

 

So many missed opportunities. I would have loved to see the conflict of Rey being in love with Ben and Poe/Finn knowing about it.

 

I don't like Dave Filoni.

Yes, he's created some good episodes... but he's also made most of the worst material in the franchise.

I have no doubt that many other creators could create equally strong moments on a more consistent basis.

from JJ Abrams like that Finn wasn't actually in love with Rey, all he wanted to tell to her was that he's force sensitive. Things like that make me think they were not so sure either with what was implied and what they wanted the audience to believe the characters really feel.
