And how does that (Greenham Common in Newbury AKA the Resistance Base) fit.

 

This is a scene I'm particularly looking forward to seeing.

 

OK, I feel like there are a couple things here that surprisingly seem to be flying under the radar...

Firstly, isn't it kind of a big deal that somehow Rey knows something that is a game changer for Kylo's plan? He thought Luke's lightsaber was the only way to get what he needed but now simply by getting into Rey's head he knows there's another way? Doesn't this have some pretty significant implications for Rey and her background, and her relationship to Luke? Is it also connected to her response to what Rose shows in the "flashback"?

Secondly, I'm fascinated by her statement, "You'll never be as powerful as Darth Vader"... That is an odd thing for someone who's not an imperial or a sith to say. I expect those words from someone who reveres him, almost as if she's defending his image. Could it be that this is personal for her and she recognizes Darth Vader as her grandfather, and knows the truth of his return to the light side?

Does this stuff ring true with anyone else or am I just a loon?

 

It also tells you that Rey is more powerful.

 

Exactly what is Kylo's plan? If Anakin/Luke's saber was something that would satisfy that plan it sure sounds like Kylo is trying to achieve something rather than physically needing the lightsaber or parts in it (as had been rumored).

Based on what Rey supposedly says to him, it sounds like Kylo is either trying to become a Sith on his own, or has been sent on a quest by the Sith on order for him to become a Sith.

For Kylo to say "there is another way" it makes me wonder if this isn't a mirror of Luke saying... "So I am a Jedi" only to have Yoda say... nope... not yet - you gotta face Vader.

What if Kylo is thinking to himself - now I know that Luke is alive - if I go confront/kill Luke - then I'll finally be a Sith.

I mean how else does one prove they are a Sith if there are no Jedi around?

The only other possible reason for him to say that there is another way would be if they are trying to resurrect Vader or something weird like that - but this sounds more like Kylo trying to become great like Vader was...

 

Guys, keep in mind he's speculating based on very vague shot lists descriptions and concept art. He doesn't have a script.

 

I like the idea of Ren speaking with Rey and her not giving in. I also like her quote, if true, it shows an aggressive/frisky side which is a bit refreshing, especially from the lead female. I know Leia was like that with Tarkin but she was more restrained/diplomatic in her tone. Hopefully, Rey's scavenger side comes out in this scene.

 

Does anyone else find it odd that immediately following Celebration, MSW's "quoted" scene callouts started specifically referring to The Resistance and The First Order? I really don't want to be one of thoooooose people, but for me it really made me scratch my head. Like, if you had the names of each faction, why'd you sit on them? And if you didn't, then how much stuff is being "added" to what they have? I'm sure they started off with some legit info, but something smells off...

Towards the middle of the film, in the Map Room of the Rebel Base, Leia has a secret “up her sleeve,” involving her own weapon called “The Sledgehammer” by the production.

 

I noticed this too, the first MSW report after the names were dropped all a sudden they appeared in these Callouts, its almost like they are made up xD

 

Who cares? He probably inserted those details now that more facts are out there. Doesn't mean the details themselves are wrong or made up.

It just means he fleshed out what details he has so they make more sense.

Otherwise we'd have Interior Base/Interior Castle.

 

If this latest MSW leak is true, could the shot of Kylo from the first teaser but him looking for Rey in the woods? She got loose, he finds out and goes looking for her, hears something and then ignites the saber.?

 

I think his posted scene descriptions are heavily modified and summarized, ostensibly to protect his source. But I think he would have been the first to post about the First Order and Resistance had he known about it. Also, he seemingly had no clue that Jakku was Jakku until Celebration.

 

I'm fairly certain he paraphrases these entries so they arent word-for-word(protecting his source) and since we now know the faction names he is simply filling in the gaps. In the future when "Rose" is mentioned in these callouts or whatever they are, he will use her real name(which escapes me at the moment).

 

He must. I don't think they would use "Tunnel of Love" in their shot descriptions.

 

True. And that's what I assume he's doing. Maybe I'm just being a persnickety journalism student and that's what made me suspicious. Because when I see that those callouts have quotation marks around them, I assume they're lifted verbatim from some official documentation. So by old school journalism rules, you would use brackets when you edit a quote. For example...

"INTERIOR DAY [FIRST ORDER CASTLE] – DUNGEON Rey uses some “special skills” to convince Stormtroopers to leave their post."

But MSW is just a Star Wars blog so I shouldn't be too harsh on them for not following AP style or anything. Always nice hearing other people's opinions though.

 

Agreed, the problem I have with them is they don't seem to think they are a blog. They'll tell you they're just "speculating" with a wink and a nod, and then if they're wrong and you call them on it, they get so upset! Or if they're wrong and no one calls them out, they just move on. They never say "oops, sorry guys", and for me, that takes something away from the fact that they're right when they're right.

Ugh...and that podcast is hideous, so self righteous...
