You are definitely not the only one who was wondering about these topics.

    1. It seems that the lightsaber has Luke's whereabouts encoded in it. My guess is that if Kylo Ren has Rey, then he feels that Luke will come to him instead of having to search for him.

    2. This one is a real head scratcher. How does Rey seem to know Kylo Ren (which is shown in the flashback), but not Han or Leia? There just doesn't seem to be enough evidence that they are brother and sister if one solely goes by the MSW material.

The only conclusion I can come to is that they were trained together, based on the context of all the scenes. Rey must have somehow known what tempted Ren to the dark side. Hence, the scene becomes that much more powerful and meaningful when they duel each other via Jedi mind tricks.

To me this reads like Occlumency (sp?) in Harry Potter. Snape is teaching Harry how to block mind reading and Harry gets mad and accidentally sees into Snape's mind. Whether or not Jason was influenced by that in his interpretation or the movie was, that is how Jason wrote it up. The "You'll never be as powerful as Vader" comment would be because she saw into his thoughts something about how he wants to be the next Darth Vader, and she said that to put him down.

It's interesting to me that he is trying to be as powerful as Vader and what that may mean for his legacy vs the emperor. In the prequels, Anakin is made out to be "off the charts" with his connection to the force. However, in the original trilogy the emperor is the higher ranking "master". So why aim to be like Darth Vader rather than the emperor? Is it that there is a family connection? Do people know Darth killed the emperor? Does Kylo know that Vader was Anakin?

It was already obvious that these descriptions aren't coming straight off a list. This is him translating camera logs with very vague information on them, turning them into script format and adding information to them.

But good catch. Thid discrepancy pretty much confirms that Jason Ward is making this up as he goes. I'm sure he's in communication with some people who are in the know (and none of them have seen a script), he's definitely had some advanced knowledge of the film but I never suspected it was much of anything, as plenty of "the information" has changed along the way and some posts have been very contradictory.

Seems like he's just milking this for what he can get.

MSW references the rebels premier, specifically when Asokha and Vader have a connection. I believe what he's trying to say is that Kylo no longer needs the saber because he and Rey have a connection, and Rey is going to lead him to Luke, so he can tap into the connection and find Luke. As the audience, we will know this as soon as Kylo leaves the interrogation room, but it will be implied that Rey does not know this. Meaning, Kylo will probably tap into the connection in order to find Luke, and spring a surprise attack.

As always if this true it had the potential to be a very early powerful scene between the main protagonist and antagonist of the ST. Whether they are brother/sister, cousins, or former padawan colleagues, their is going to be a strong connection between them as the ST advances. Two complete opposites. Kylo dark and sinister. Rey pure and righteous. The classic good vs evil Star Wars is known for.

I wonder if there will be any scenes of Rey after she's captured and before Phasma takes her to Kylo?

To me this is starting to look like Kylo simply wants to do what Vader could not do, and kill Luke. End the Jedi line.
The saber would just be a means to an end - maybe he thinks by having that saber in his hands, the saber that Luke once held in his hands, he may be able to reach out and make a connection with Luke through the Force, and divine his whereabouts...
Once he discovers that Rey knows where Luke is, the saber itself becomes irrelevant.

But what about the GL plan (I know rumors suggest the production has varied from it) for the ST to be more about moral ambiguity and divining right from wrong? Kylo and Rey being polar opposites of the good/evil spectrum kind of goes the other way with it. We might be getting a a story with non-traditional roles (more "gray" characters) this time around... Just saying!

That does make sense, if true I would say he "feels" something rather than hears something, which prompts him to ignite the light-saber. My guess would be the light-saber igniting act by Kylo also surrounds the time he's supposed to have the encounter with the Falcon and Han.

One could only hope. It would definitely fit the mold of a Star Wars for our time if the line between good and evil got blurred a bit. And from what little we know or have rumors about i think alot of it, is still in play. Theres long been the rumor of a weapons race between rebels and empire or resistance and first order :p. If Leia really is trying to stop them with her own WMD then that defintely deals with moral issues from right and wrong the blurring the lines between good and evil. It would be awesome if someone within the First Order actually was good guys. And yes there already is with Finn i guess - but i mean someone who stays with the First Order at least well into the next movie. Perhaps that could be Phasma or Gleesons character - :)

am I the only one that feels this all sounds an awefull lot like Harry Potter's Horcruxes stuff? In a bad way... A light saber is an object, there were never special attributes to it, it was the wielder that has the force. I'm not really liking the direction this is taking (if any of it is true).

Well I think people are hoping for "grey" characters they are hoping for moral ambiguity. I think the high contrast of right and wrong will remain but the choices the "heroes" have to face are about doing wrong to achieve their goals. The rumors are pointing to pretty over the top choices. Like the heroes can use a Death Star like weapon (clearly an evil act). A grey choice would be torturing an imp soldier for info on stopping a Death Star. We have 3 movies coming so it might bet more grey but so far the choices still seem broad strokes.

I dunno but he still going on about these blasting pigs. First they are there to help pull Poe's X-Wing via 'Kira' then they are just live stock & Now? They're in space on frighter which Rey fights. He also says that crash Tie lands in quick sand and some how Poe and Finn swap clothes. In quick sand? Poe goes missing and then turns up in the black tie again and saves the day.

FFS Talk about a mess. I'll say it again, I think he's going to get a lot of the film right but am not sure he really knows what is going on with specifics. He's missing something.

Yeah am sad enough to still listen to his podcast. I still think he some nuggets hidden away somewhere in the show. He invites listeners to ask him questions and they were talking about the falcon. Its at the back end of the podcast if you fancy a listen but some how I don't think you will lol. :)
