Injuries Sustained by Kylo Ren and Their Future Importance in the Story

Not only that but remember when Kylo was facing Rey and he starts hitting his wound ot fuel his pain and rage as blood spilled out on the snow? Kylo is one is one sick puppy

 

Yeah, like " only if I was mostly cyborg like my Grandfather this wouldn't hurt me". The ways they could go with him are limitless. This guy is a great villain and Driver is perfect for the role.

 

With that scar on his face, he is becoming more and more similar to Anakin. He will most likely have a cybernetic arm, too.

 

I thought this had more to do adrenaline, and releasing endorphin, to overcome the pain.

 

I'll have to pay attention better on another showing since I was mostly just caught up in imagining the nasty scar that is going to be on his face for episode VIII. The injuries Kylo sustained are going to be very important though, he may even make references to how he is becoming more and more like Vader. He wore the mask as a sort of defense mechanism (made me think of "Frank" in all honesty). But now he may end up having to wear some sort of mask out of necessity.

Also I noticed when Rey was with Finn at the end the camera kept refusing to pan away from his face and shoulders, that could be used for a reveal of the extent of the damage done to Finn in VIII.

 

Part of me hopes he doesn't get cybernetics...

 

After watching for the second time, it is clear she does not cut off his hand. The action is very fast, but you can see his hand still attached. It looks as though she may have destroyed his saber though. I will try to watch it again soon to confirm.

 

I didn't see his hand get cut off either. And with how much its been emphasized in the past I'm sure they would have had a shot that makes it clear that he loses his hand.

 

I think he will quite like the facial scar, he will be more like grandpappy

 

Maybe we will see Kylo fighting again and get more injuries in ep. VIII. The cybernetics visual will be use in ep. IX, just a guess.

 

Was his lightsaber destroyed? Something was cut. Was it his arm or the saber?

 

Completely agree. Driver nailed the role with his physicality and that would be lost with cybernetics. Hand is fine - it's a Skywalker thing to lose, but anything else would just be OTT.

 

@Kramgnol; The first time I watched, I thought he lost his hand. The second time I watched, I believe you see both hands intact after the scene. It seems his lightsaber was cut, or dropped as a result of the cut across the face, which felt a little underwhelming, to be honest.

 

I forgot about that but I think his saber was cut in half.

It is defintley going to be a case of be careful what you wish for with Kylo.

As for Finn that is something I didn't notice even on two viewings. But I know Kylo sliced upwards on Finn's back. Not sure how much of injuries he truly sustained.

 

It falls off pretty fast in the dark and she moves the saber up to his face pretty quick, but what falls is bigger than part of a saber. I can't believe they'd do it like that for him to not have lost the hand, though you never actually see his arm afterwards to know for sure.

 

I thought she pushed his cross guard into his right leg, then swung her lightsaber around to cut his left leg off above the knee. Not sure, will have to see again.

 

Part of me hopes he doesn't get a wand to go with the forehead scar to please Professor Snoke.

 

I cannot help myself. I know you are thinking this from a different perspective but I see one clear route to the injuries he sustained: Kylo is going to be obsessed by Rey. He will stand in front of a mirror, caressing the scar Rey caused and mutter, "I will have my revenge." (or something equally ridiculous, emo-teenager angst-y)

I saw it three times (doesnt make me an expert by any means). I did pay attention because I was curious about this to.

What I could tell:

Wound 1: From Chewbacca left side (where the blood came from)
Wound 2: From Fin, it was like a thrust to his shoulder (right I think)
Wound 3: From Rey, it was like a thrust to his opposite shoulder
Wound 4: Slice to the leg? This is where the big piece of cloth gets cut off.
Wound 5: The upswing that cut his face. Must have got part of his chest also?

I didnt see him get his arm cut off though or his leg that I could tell.

Can anyone confirm the above? I could have sworn they both gave him shoulder injuries.
