I'm not saying there are no limits. If it fits within the purpose of the story, and the universe, then yes I'm ok with it.

How do you know SKB didn't have an engine, or means of movement? It was pretty big, the means of propulsion could have been inside it somewhere? Why do you assume it has to have an engine strapped to the outside?

Also, if the galaxy far, far away is anything like ours, I do find it absurd that spaceships travelling at lighspeed manage to get to places so quickly. It we flew a ship at lightspeed, it would still take 4.2 years to get to the closest star to Earth. The ships in SW have to fly much faster than lightspeed to get anywhere in a reasonable time for a good plot to develop.

Also, temperature diffentials don't arrise from travelling through space as such, they arise from moving towards or away from heat sources, such as suns. So really, you have to wonder more how the weapon buffered temperature differentials arising from the sun disappearing, rather than any effects from space travel. All planets travel through space, and ones on elliptical orbits deal with large temperature differentials and hang on to an atmosphere. An atmosphere would buffer temperature differentuals to a point, so you would have to move SKB into the goldilocks zone of another sun pretty quickly to avoid devastating climatic effects.

Anyway, to summarize, I do find lots of things in SW absurd, but I don't let this detract from my enjoyment of the story. It just seems silly to get hung up on these sorts of things.

To be fair, every planet moves. Hidalgo may not have implied any more than that.
