But he didn't keep his mouth shut. He wasn't told to shut up. He was given a platform by Lucasfilm to disclose his initial reservations at length. Several times.

But that's typical whenever this topic is brought up. First Hamill is the heroic bwhistle-blower. Then the next minute he's a cowardly hack willing to shill for Disney.

I never thought he was either because Disney peps are far too smart for it. Luke is Mark, and people can't hate Luke if they love Mark. So, you let Mark be Mark, give him a platform to talk, and thus you set up / allow your own "defamation", which is by far the best "defamation" (bound to happen due to the new direction you chose to move) you can get because in the worst case scenario the fandom stands behind Mark, therefore up to a point keeps on loving Luke. Yeah, their Luke, but still Luke, your "product". So, while you are turning the ship towards a new direction, which inevitably will lead to losses, you still get to keep some of the old sailors, i.e., you minimize your losses.

.....Or maybe, just maybe, Mark Hamil is a professional actor who expressed his concerns to the Powers-that-Be but when they stuck to their guns, he went ahead and did his job as his boss (the director) told him to. I'm guessing there's a forum full of posters who can relate to that scenario.

I have a problem with these two complaints. One, the ONLY time I've seen Boba Fett be a badass was when he was in conflict with former Imperial stormtroopers and pilots in Season Two of "The Mandalorian". That's it. Frankly, I wasn't impressed, due to the fact that Boba was fighting characters who were not that impressive or intimidating. Those he had fought against in "Boba Fett" were more worthy adversaries - the Pykes, Black Krrsantan, the Tuskens and especially Cad Bane.

Why complain about Boba no longer being a loner? He was only a loner due to his profession as a bounty hunter. Was he supposed to remain one for the rest of his existence as a Star Wars character? Was he supposed to be a bounty hunter for the rest of his existence? This is like complaining against development for a character . . . especially one who has become a protagonist. And I find that mind boggling.

For me, the Tuskens are ambiguous characters - like many others in the Star Wars universe. Why they're expected to remain stuck in the same characterizations after 40 to 50 years is beyond me.

You mean he took direction and helped realise the script, like every professional other actor does. Which is why I'm saying that "Hamill tried to warn us." is not the extraordinary smoking gun people try to make out.

Exactly! Now you've got it!!! :)
I never said or implied it was. For the record, my take is that Mark Hamil read the script and was surprised at how Luke Skywalker was going to be portrayed in the film. You are welcome to spin what followed anyway you want. 'Nuff said.

You were advocating for the Last Jedi director to have changed things because Mark Hamill expressed his concerns,, based on Peter Jackson recasting Aragorn because the actor he originally cast didn't seem old enough. Instead of telling Hamill to "STFU" as you put it.

The Hamill stuff was always overblown. Lucasfilm was honest about the TLJ documentary. Fans would have really lost their minds with where Lucas was going with Luke. The Last Jeid is probably the most Lucas/Lucasfilm of the sequel films. Hamill has also said he loves the move. I don't think he's hiding anything.

I find it difficult to accept the idea that "The Last Jedi" was the most "Lucas film". Mind you, I think Rian Johnson called himself trying to channel George Lucas. But I feel that he really came short of that endeavor, due to bad writing. There was a lot of bad writing in a film that I believe is vastly overrated.

It was the only sequel film really made by Lucasfilm. JJ's Bad Robot crew was in charge of the other two. Rian Johnson spent several months with the Lucasfilm crew developing the sequel.

Also from the early Lucas sequel concept art George was going in a much darker direction with Luke. Bad writing? Sure, you may feel that way, but I'll defer to the Oscar nominated writer over opinions about screenwriting from fans on the internet.

I've just seen a couple of clips from Obi Wan...and I can only say this: it won't happen but how I wish that DLF would erase TROS from canon. And not just because I hated the entire film, but because Palpatine should have stayed dead. Bringing him back was possibly one of the worst creative decisions I have ever had the misfortune to endure on film. His 'resurrection' made Anakin Skywalker's sacrifice for nothing, and ripped the heart of of SW.

I'm sorry, I know quite a few liked the film, but it's tainted the entire saga.

I agree with you, but in fairness to JJ and his writing team, what could he do? The trilogy's Big Bad was killed off in the second film. Who was going to replace his menacing presence in the grand finale? I didn't end up liking TROS, but before the film came out, the word that Palpatine was going to return in the Skywalker Saga's final film intrigued me.

The thing about the STs that I will always find mindboggling is THIS: They started the final three films of the Skywalker Saga without a clear-cut story arc for how it was all going to play out. How do you do that??!? Many SW fans here can rag on Marvel, but you've got to give Kevin Feige credit. He orchestrated a whole series of Marvel films, helmed by a wide-range of directors, along a path that led to long-planned, blockbuster pay-offs, first with the initial Avengers film and later on with Avengers: Endgame.

Fans can try to justify the storylines for each of the ST's three films -- which is fine. But at the end of the day, the three didn't build upon each other towards a blockbuster conclusion, the way that the OTs and even the PTs did. The STs became a billion-dollar game of dueling directors.

I thought Palpatine was going to return as a Dark Force Ghost...and among the many, many leaks was one where Kylo sacrifices himself to save Rey, and the Jedi Force Ghosts, led by Anakin, both got rid of Palps and saved Kylo. I actually liked the sound of that.

I defer to my own feelings after viewing the film. I heartily disliked "The Last Jedi". I thought it was a flawed and overrated film. If you feel otherwise, you are entitled to your feelings. Everyone is entitled to his or her feelings . . . including both you and me.

    Absolutely.
Regarding TLJ, I thought Hamill was amazing in it...along with Adam Driver, they dominated the film, but the whole cast did a pretty good job, I liked how Johnson wrote Poe as well - instead of a wannabe Han, he was an original person, a committed rebel whose commitment bordered on the fanatical.

I've said this before, fair if people don't agree, but...I would have loved to see the final film deal with the true horror that is war itself. Poe in charge of the Resistance and being more ruthless than Leia, Kylo trying to be a bad guy...and not being very good at it, with Hux waiting in the wings to get rid of him..Rogue 1 showed how 'dark' SW could be, it would have been something different. I actually thought they were going this way, but I guess it was just wishful thinking!!

Ultimately, the problem with the ST is that Lucasfilm started what they knew from the outset would be a movie trilogy with no overarching plot — or even unifying theme — planned for how the story would play out from beginning to end. As a result, the only unifying thing about them was that people who enjoyed one of the films tended to dislike the others.

Given the high stakes involved, it’s still hard to believe that Lucasfilm and Disney allowed such a thing to happen.

The old Boba Fett wasn't old. This guy is and it's not unreasonable he feel it. Seeing that is relatable and realistic tbh. That doesn't bother me. Getting his ass beat most episodes does. The Black K fight was great though. His episodes of Mando were great. He doesn't have to win every fight, but I'd like more of that and less of him falling down.

Filoni fans border on a cult mentality. In addition to this show being meh, his obsession with shoehorning his little cartoon characters into everything is infuriating. He is so obsessed with his cartoons and so are his fans. Logically speaking, all these characters who are from his prequel-era should be nowhere to be found. They're all MIA during the original trilogy, but are all still alive and popping up again. The ego it takes to do that simply because they're your characters is nauseating - and worst of all not logical/organic storytelling.

You're 100% right. Kennedy is involved in the shows too. Filoni zealots ramble about her, but she's involved in the live action shows too and they don't say blast about that. They have no objectivity or rational opinions about this topic. It's a purely fanatical mindset.
