Is Mace Windu still alive?

Could he have survived? Given the above comments, yes.

Should he have survived? I personally think not. Luke was meant to be the final Jedi in ROTJ, which gave a lot more weight and meaning to his endeavours, but the numbers of other Jedi seem to be increasing in the new canon, with the likes of Ezra, Kanan and Ahsoka likely to be about in the time period, which, to me, removed from the importance of Luke and his achievements.

If you watch ROTS(2005) closely, Windu gets his head cut off.
I'm not sure 21B or any other medical droid can save that.

I've just watched the scene on YouTube, and he most definitely doesn't get his head cut off. Hand chopped off, electrocuted, then Force-shoved out of the window.

 

It would definately be a possibility, but i sure hope not. It's fine with one or two magically surviving characters, but don't overuse it. (If Another dead one is to be brought back, I think they will pick Fett.)

 

I personally think Mace Windu did survive the attack. I also believe to hide himself from Yoda's probing he concealed himself in a area strong in the Darkside perhaps the Witch Sister's planet. I think he only will reveal himself after Yoda, Obi One, Anakin and Sidious are gone. So could he have a role to play in The Force Awakens? Possibly, Finn has to come from somewhere!

 

I'm pretty sure he's alive out there, but I'm not sure how much a role he could have in the new canon going forward. Introduce him in Rebels? Possibly, but in what capacity? They've already got Ahsoka for all of the "Old Era" Jedi training they need (and yes, she's not a Jedi anymore but she still has the experience and knowledge of them). I'm not sure how well Mace would fit into the new comics either, but I'm sure they could make it work if they wanted to.

It would be interesting if Finn is Mace's son. Finn would be similar to Luke in wanting to join the academy, but Mace doesn't want him to since he knows the full power of The Empire with having experienced it first hand . Finn leaves anyways since his best friend (pip Anderson) has joined.
