    I'm pretty sure that way back when they announced the returning cast for Ep. 7, Kenny Baker was included in that announcement. I have since heard that he has been ill and unable to participate in the movie. His name is not on the poster. I'm just wondering if there are more details on Kenny's status. Did he do any work on the new movie? Is there a known cast member who is filling in for him? Yes, I realize in this day and age they don't need a man inside R2, but I would think they might still need a dedicated performer on set.

    I'm not surprised he's not on the poster, he was barely even in the prequels. In fact, I'm pretty sure he was only in one scene in ROTS. More of a traditional cameo now.

    Granted, if Mark Hamill is listed on the poster, so should Kenny.

    I'm sure there was a picture of another actor allegedly playing R2 on MSW a while back but i can't find it now.

    I know what your talking about, I thought I also read some where that that is why Warick Davis was called....I could be totally wrong but I remember hearing something like that.

    In the most legal sense of the term, Kenny Baker HAS to be officially credited in a fair play clause in association with Anthony Daniels, regardless of his health.

    Huh? "Kenny Baker HAS to be credited in a fair play clause in association with Anthony Daniels" Could you please explain this to me I don't understand how he HAS to be credited? If he didn't perform as R2 he won't get credited for it.

    It's a contractual clause called "favored nations." BASICALLY, an actor has to be credited/paid the same amount as another actor upon agreement. If he was announced, that's where my assumption comes from. Since Baker and Daniels are on the same terms based on their credits and all, he would be on a favored nations type of contract, plus I could extrapolate that he has had his contract in perpetuity as well as major royalties.

    Wow, I think you're assuming a lot there. And, based on favored nations logic, as a carpenter, I should put one of those in every install I do. Then, I could get a nickel every time some used the door I installed. Forever. If that's a real thing, it's pretty dumb.

    I think that's how it was for the prequels, though. They were credited almost equally even though Kenny was barely on set.
    I'm guessing Disney's contracts for the sequels were different.

    Baker said that he was on set for TFA during the recent dust-up (so to speak) with Anthony Daniels.

    "I can’t say anything about the new film but I have been to the set."

    A recent article said that he had to leave a commitment after judging a contest early back in September because he had to go work on Star Wars. The only thing going on at that time was the filming for Rian Johnson's Episode VIII.

    "But after deciding on a winner the man who plays the famous droid couldn’t stick around as he promptly left to catch a flight to carry on work on the newest Stars Wars movie, The Force Awakens." (video)

    I always wondered if they wouldn't get him to play the part of Paploo that stole the speeder bike. That Ewok definitely had Jedi reflexes and abilities. I always thought it would have been cool if he became a Jedi once Luke learned of his little diversion.
