After seeing the movie I have came to a possibly shocking conclusion:Kylo Ren may be the Chosen One.
Kylo Ren is portrayed as a very uncertain character."Blinded by the dark",lured by the light in him(resembled by his relatives, his family),he wants to be with the Dark, but his attachments(Han,Leia) keep him from doing so.As I've read on Wookkiepedia,Snoke thinks he is the example of a great force user:the balance between good and evil.Sound familiar to the prophecy,"to bring balance to the force".If the ST didn't exist, the Chosen One would be Anakin.Destroying the Jedi, then redeeming himself, killing Palpatine. The prophecy isn't fulfilled, because the ST exists.I think,Kylo will bring balance,as the conclusion of Episode IX.

    Well,until Darth Binks resurfaces obviously.

I think JJ canonically cleared up the argument that "balance in the force" means equal light and dark. With Lor San Tekka's line "without the Jedi there can be no balance in the force." I dont think LUCASFILM would allow this new trilogy to negate Anakin's importance by flipping the script and saying "ah nope, this guys now the chosen one." Can you imagine the fan backlash?

I am aware of that.It belongs if the galaxy at the start of the movie is in balance.I think it wasn't,as the light side is represented by the Resistance, the dark side by the First Order and the nights of Ren.According to what was mentioned, the First Order vastly outnumbers the Resistance. It's impossible with the ST for the galaxy to be in balance, using the prophecy as proof. The chosen one will bring balance to the force. If it was Anakin, then it would've stayed balanced in the galaxy. Now,with the ST,it means there's what it is,but after Episode VIII,it wouldn't be Anakin to bring balance/peace.It will be someone else.
Thought,it may be possible for the prophecy to mean "a temporary balance-out" but that would be a stupid way to conclude a prophecy known for centuries.

I think Anakin was the chosen one. He failed to fulfill the prophesy during the Mortis arc of the clone wars. He was supposed to take the father's place.

I understand that you mean Anakin was supposed to fulfill the prophecy but failed?Sounds interesting, haven't thought of that.

I hope we can put the whole "balance" to the force dialogue away for good. I never really liked that dialogue. Unfortunately it's now canon.

I know, I just worded it incorrectly. I should've left out the "now" part.

Bad writing?Maybe, but it would be even worse to not resolve this matter.

Never cared for prophetic visions or chosen one type stuff in Star Wars. Anakin was just supposed to be a really good guy who turned bad, simple as that. Hopefully no mention of chosen one stuff is in the new movies. (My opinion of course)
