If you look at this picture which is pretty Hi Res and you can zoom in a little check out the hand holding the saber. It actually looks wrapped or taped up. Also the splits in his tunic look to be on the left and right not down the center. Note how raged the tunic is too. It doesn't make it past his elbow. I don't think that's Kylo on the left.

Looks more like a trooper than it does Kylo Renn from the teaser to me as well. Captain Phasma?
Epecially the helmet which doesn't really match the concept art of the baddie holding the new saber from a while ago.

 

The figure on the left seems to have the Bane styled helmet.

 

I'm gonna agree with Dwight, that's not Kylo Ren. It has to be the Flametrooper.

 

That is definitely Gwendolyn Christie on the left.

 

I reckon it's Kylo Ren on the left.

The split down the tunic "skirt" and short cape ruffled around the shoulders.


The championship belt.


And that ribbed detailing is there if you look closely at the arm holding the lightsaber in the teaser.


We know there were numerous helmet designs from what Ward as said at MSW. I believe he has even referred to some confusion over which designs were for which characters he had seen that many. We honestly haven't a clue what they went with for Ren in the end... so I see no reason it can't be this.

Hah. Ah well, same evidence, different conclusion... To my eyes that hood piece and the actual tunic are separate. You can see on the figure it is peeking out and looking ragged over his shoulder/upper arm on the left and is behind his arms, stopping at just the same sort of area as the one in the trailer.

 

The tunic looks to only cover one arm and only goes halfway down the right arm. It looks really ragged also. His hand right hand is wrapped up from the knuckle up. I know someone might say I'm being a little too particular but based on about 90% of star wars figures I've seen...I'm not. It could be him but I'm leaning towards it isn't.

 

To me it doesn't feel like Kylo Ren, but looking at his hands they seem like they're shaped to hold a lightsaber. The Finn figures right hand has an extended trigger finger like the clone trooper figures have had for the last 10 years or more. Although he certainly could have a blaster for his right hand and a lightsaber for his left. There have been a few Luke figures that had both. Rey definitely has the most Jedi looking clothing, with hands molded to hold lightsabers. I wonder if they are Black Series 6 inch figures? I personally like that line, but I'm sure they'll have them in the 3 3/4 line too. It wouldn't be Star Wars without them!

 

Taking a second look at the picture: poor Chewie, he lost a lot of wookie weight.

Rey and Finn look pissed off

 

The tunic is separate and fairly tight fitting to the body.
The hooded cape is a separate piece of clothing, and seems consistent with the figure to me. It's even hanging to the right in the toy photo too.

It certainly looks like bandages in stills, even the cap I did myself.
Go back and watch the actual trailer - trust me, it is an even, ribbed material on the garment under the hood/cape.


The only major discrepancy I can see is that they have made the flap parts of the tunic look like this on the toy, but then, we can't see the back of the toy and we can't see the front of the character in the teaser.
Everything else we can see or discern about it matches, in my humble opinion...

 

I would have to agree that it is Kylo Ren, but the mask seems a bit off from this leaked photo. Who knows, this could have been a test shot, that's why it was so easily leaked. The mask may have evolved throughout the design process. You can see the ribbing on the arms, though.

 

You could be right. I do see a bit of raggedness over on the left. If it is Kylo, I wish they would have had the hood up. Kinda like that Maul figure.

 

Let's get onto the really important question...
How the hell does that droid toy stay upright?!

 

That is my main concern with TFA., from the start. How they will manage to make an action figure out of that Ball Droid. We might have our first Star Wars toy with a succion pad

 

Maybe there's a small flat spot on the bottom . It's hard to say if its a shadow or a flat spot but if you zoom in it kind of looks like there's a little area that's bumped up.
