SPECULATION Leia the General...

She is a General since her planet exploded. She is still a princes but for battle her title is General.

at least that is my take

 

She's probably a real general based on her experiences and being alive during The Empire and all, so she would have the most senior knowledge since she's also been with Darth Vader and all as well.

 

Leia will definitely be a jedi, to what extent we will see her use her powers still remains to be seen.

 

Jedi...uh, uhMm...I'm not too sure about that...she could still use force powers such as anticipating things before they happen, however.

 

We don't know for certain, but what makes you think she isn't one at this point? If Luke ever decided to train someone else, she would be the logical choice for a first candidate. I can't think of a good reason of why she wouldn't want to learn to control her powers.

 

My reasoning is because if she is a general, is a Jedi and all, why wouldn't she hide as well according to the rumors of Luke Skywalker hiding out?

 

Well first of all there are probably many important reasons as to why Luke is missing, we don't really know what he is up to, I don't think he is just hiding. As for Leia, her identity as a jedi and Luke's sister is probably unknown to many.

 

I don't think she would jump it and save the day with her lightsaber, though...

 

Maybe not, but I always envisioned a scene where the first order attempts to capture her thinking she is just an old general and they get a nasty surprise when she pulls out a lightsaber.

 

I see her as being more diplomatic and using her force powers on them instead of a light saber, plus in 39 years, Leia wouldn't become a freakin badass while it took Luke NO TIME AT ALL to become a "God" based off of what everyone wants to think is true.

 

You seem to be asking if the title is titular, no?

Who is really more qualified to be a general/"general" at this point (Jedi or not)? She's been calling shots for decades, and has a de facto place at the round table - literally and figuratively it seems judging by the trailers.

 

I don't know why they made such a big deal about this 'General' thing. I'd assumed she was a General or had some sort of military rank in the OT, as well, given the military duds.



She'll always have the 'Princess' honorary title but it's not like this is the first time she is being depicted as something more than 'just' a Princess. One of her first scenes introduced her as a Senator (and in fact that's the only title she has ever introduced herself as).

Leia was seen as organizing the evacuation of Hoth.
And I mean... the only person to actually ever call her "princess" was Han.
Leia has been a military leader all along.

 

I'm pretty sure Jedi Knights were actual Generals in the Republic army, it wasn't just an honorary title...

I'm quite certain that Leia in TFA is a General within the Resistance, and that it has nothing to do with being a Jedi.

More pressing matters.
Becoming a Jedi requires a certain amount of devotion. You won't get far with casual training. Leia had a lot to do, even after the end of Palpatine's reign. By the time we see her in TFA, she's weary from it all. I don't really think she's had the time to go off and study the ways of the Force. I doubt she ever constructed a lightsaber, and I doubt you'll ever see her use on in a duel.


On the topic of General Leia, I have noticed that in Moving Target she is referred to as General Leia Organa, not General Leia Solo, as one may expect of a married woman. Is this just some modern feminist stuff at play here? Iis it evidence of Han and Leia's separation? Or is it something else entirely?

 

But will she wear a camo bikini?

 

What is she so busy with? Wasn't Luke equally busy fighting against the empire? He managed to find the time just fine, I don't see why she can't do the same. Doesn't seem like a believable reason to be honest. I'm pretty confident she is a jedi, if we ever get to see her use a lightsaber or not is a different question.

Not everyone changes their last name when they get married, specially not if you are royalty. At the most you could expect her to go by Leia Organa Solo, but never Leia Solo.

 

I dunno. Luke learned to control his powers, and he ended up (maybe) having to hide (possibly) on some rock somewhere (we'll see).
