    ...he's Han Solo and Leia's kid...I mean, he could TECHNICALLY be Ben ORGANA, since I remember an idea being tossed around a very looong time ago about Ben being some sort of "royalty" or something like that .

    I think she is a General of a guerrilla force with very little force capabilities. Based on what we see in TFA, they are not even a well funded guerrilla force and not very popular. To the point Leia is worried about going to the Republic capital because she would be killed. I think the resistance is not very popular with the Republic at the time of TFA. I bet there is a massive segment of the population that believes the existence of the resistance and open hostilities with the first order is fueling the first order. That if the resistance did not exist, those people believe the first order would not be attacking.
