    I don't think that's the case in my country. We have a broad range of ratings: G, PG, M, R13, R16, R18. Coarse language doesn't do much to bump up a film, it's primarily sexual references, nudity, and violence.

    Huh. Never paid that much attention to it...as far as i know all animated disney movies are G-rated here....i should check.

    Hi there!
    Really? I didn't even know we can use the letter only. I see more "Tout public" (all public) on the DVD or other "sentense" ratings.

    Over here, we have that kind of ratings for video games and it starts at 3 but it's not respected by everyone.
    For example, I'm playing Assassin's Creed (18) when I have time and I played Age of Empires (12) for the first time when I was about 4-5 so... :D

    Yes not all dvd's have only the T but i've seen it multiple times :)

    And yeah, nobody respects the age limit. I saw Jurrasic Park like when i was 4 or 5 years old. Loved that movie.

    Sounds like the same system we use...
    Technically, anyone can see PG-13 (13+) or R (17+) rated films. PG-13 means parental guidance suggested for those under 13, and R (Restricted) means anyone under the age of 17 must have an accompanying parent or guardian. But very rarely, if ever, do the ticket takers at the theater check your ID.

    The only rating where age really matters is NC-17, (no child under 17 admitted) which usually never makes it into theaters anyways. I can't even think of an example for this rating. It probably applies mostly to nudie flicks.

    Over here, nobody check the ID neither except for the "Interdit aux moins de ... ans" ( Not allowed to those under ... years old) movies. This kind of rating exists for 12, 16, 18 and 18 X rated (high violence and/or nudity). Otherwise, we have an "accord parental" (parental guidance) rating for the movies such as Matrix or the tv shows such as Buffy...

    Really, 18? The first one is only R13 here, and all the sequels have been R16 if I remember correctly.

    TV here is just G, PGR, and AO. Only pay-per-view has similar ratings to films: G, PG, M, 16, 18. There is no R13 on television.
