SPECULATION Let's talk teaser poster! When will it arrive, and what will it be?

    Happy Name Day guys!! Hope the Force has Awakened in you all.

    Now that the title has been revealed, there are rumors a trailer may come as soon as Thanksgiving or by Xmas at the latest.

    That said, when do you think we'll see a teaser poster? And what do you think it will entail?

    Struzan or another artist? Photography of the burnt Vader helmet or a single hand holding Luke's lit lightsaber triumphantly. Perhaps a simple logo treatment with the date?

    Yeah, it only seems right that Drew Struzan designs the poster.But I wouldn't expect the real thing until at least Fall 2015.

    However, your post seems like as good an opportunity as ever for forum members to share their fan-made VII art!
    (Maybe someone should start a post just for that thought...idk)

    I threw this one together back in the early Summer before the rumors and obvious title reveal, so excuse the visuals which are contrary to the current rumors!

    ^I'm sorry but EVERY fanmade poster is making me laugh so hard. They're just horrible lol. The work is good, the facial expressions are out of place though which makes it funny

    Welcome to the Cantina!

    I suppose we should keep Struzan for all 9 films. But the teaser poster is usually not painted. What do you think would make a dramatic teaser poster/banner to have in theaters Spring 2015? I think something simple and iconic... the helmet sells, so likely a variation on that or some other allusion to Vader. Second guess, hand holding a lightsaber... Cast names of the returning cast members on top.

    Art thread is a great idea! Your poster is awesome btw. Pox unto the fool who tagged it Funny (show yourself!) Maybe one too many light sabers but otherwise sweet!

    Also, I can't help but think of you on Maury as he reveals that you, in fact, are Not the Father!!

    I'd like something like a shadow or silhouette of a figure in Jedi robes holding Vader's helmet, like Hamlet with Yorick's skull.

    If the shadow is cast over an abandoned, run-down, sand-covered Tatooine building (harking back to the Ep I teaser with young Anakin casting Vader's shadow) all the better. ;)

    I hope it looks like the original from ANH...should have the new 3 as the focal point with Han and the rest in the background...with perhaps the Vader Mask overtop in the background

    That would be awesome! Do we even know who the new 3 are per se? Ridley, Boyega, and Gleeson, right? There has been so little info on Gleeson that maybe the third slot is someone else?

    no no no I appreciate all the work that is put into those posters, I'm just saying that every time I see it I laugh because of their faces which makes the poster look weird. Again I really appreciate it. Sorry if you misunderstood. I couldn't do any better

    I believe the first teaser poster will be very obscure, it might be nothing more than the burnt mask of Darth Vader amongst ashes, with Star Wars and the title. Another possiblity is a hooded figure who could be Luke, or a some sort of jedi/sith/other force faction/ ancient temple/shrine/tomb. EDIT: It coud also be an ancient weapon, a lightsaber hilt, or perhaps an artifact like a holocron. It will be a while before we get a poster with our main characters on it.

    As soon as I saw this leaked concept art, I thought it was intended to be used as the basis of the teaser poster. Usually, when a movie prop is photographed, it's photographed against a light background. Instead, not only is the background dark, but it looks like some thought and care went into its appearance.

    Agreed, but the fact that MF.com had it up for so long... makes me question whether Disney cared that some unused assets leaked.

    Could have been an intentional leak to spread misinformation. I think that site STILL has all the art up.

    One might go so far as to say, what if all of the leaks were nothing but a series of lies and misdirection and the real movie will be like nothing that we've yet heard? lol

    A tweak/modernization on this theme would be a homerun. It is the classic pose from Star Wars before this Episodic nonsense.

    I'm actually a bit annoyed that we may get stills of Luke before the teaser trailer. I'd want our first Welcome back Luke moment to be accompanied by Binary Sunset to really pack emotional heft.That moment is we've all wanted since forever. A still poster doesn't do nearly as much. My opinion. It lessens the impact of the tease reveal.
