SPECULATION Lightsaber battles in EP VIII

    Kylo Ren will almost certainly fight Rey again in E8, but who else will fight?

    I'm thinking Snoke's light saber abilities will be saved for E9, but doesn't there have to be a fight at the end of E8?

    Does E8 end with Luke and Rey finding Snoke's lair?

    Or does Finn find Snoke and die fighting the KOR guarding Snoke?

    I'm convinced the light saber battle on the island Luke has lived on in exile (I refuse to use JJ's idiotic and way too cutesy planet name) happens halfway or so through E8. They have to get off that island (another idea JJ forced into the trilogy that is as original as a third Death Star) before the one hour mark in the movie so that storyline has any momentum. RJ wrote the script not JJ, so I have faith Luke will have something to do outside the island rather than just train Rey and show her the smoke monster.

    (I'm not trolling. I'm explaining my thought process. I expect E8 to have some new, really interesting elements and an original story that follows up on a lot of what TFA introduced/threw at the wall and leads into E9 without being lazily cryptic)

    I think there's potential for several small battles, but probably no fight to the finish... something like that quick encounter between Maul and Qui-Gon in TPM (which was awesome by the way, that came out of nowhere). Here's my lineup... and I'm stealing @Grand Master Galen Marek 's format because it's great

    Luke & Rey vs. Kylo & Knights of Ren (green)(blue) vs. (crossguard) (red)(red)(red)(red)

    Luke & Leia vs. Snoke (green)(blue) vs. (red) (emperor)

    I know Leia didn't pursue the path of a Jedi, but I would like to see her throw some force power around. That would be awesome. Perhaps just enough to hold Snoke off, until Luke can come in and open up a can....

    Also, I really wanted to include Finn on this list, until I remembered he no longer has a saber. Boo.

    Hmm, I wonder if Snoke even has a lightsaber? If he does, I wonder what it would look like...

    Admittedly, I can't see the feeble, old infirm having the strength to weild anything heavier than a light-toothpick. But then again, Yoda hobbled around with a cane, and look what he could do. So, who knows, I guess?

    i honestly can't see Snoke dueling (yes, PT PTSD flashbacks of Yoda).
    i hope they leave the fishy eyed toilet monster on his toilet and leave the light-sabering to the non-cgi characters.

    Couldn't possibly agree more. Let Snoke be the old decrepit creep he appears to be and not make him move around fast etc. If he has to fight then let him do it Sheev style. OT Sheev style that is.

    yes! he should have a more sophisticated method of fighting--or else not do it at all; that's what he has thralls for.

    Yeah, this is more of the type of confrontation I was thinking of when I envisioned the Luke/Leia vs. Snoke. More of a "force battle" than a lightsaber duel, but still. I wanna see a little action there. Or at least what Snoke can do. Otherwise why should we be afraid of him? Just because Kylo and Hux answer to him?

    In the "what can Snoke do" department I think your answer is in the student. Look at how heavily Kylo Ren relies on mental force power. More than any other character we have seen. I think Snoke will be an amplified version of this as Kylo is his student.

    You're right, it isnt. But it is as confirmed as it can possibly be without any official confirmation. The only way it could be confirmed 100% before the movie is released, is to include an clip of the fightscene in the trailers.. ;);)

    If we exclude "fighting with the Force"... I only see 1 lightsaber fight: Rey vs Kylo

    I see a lot of action from Luke with his saber against ennemies, but not against Kylo.

    Force battle between Luke and Kylo and Leia against Snoke or Kylo.

    A. Men.
    I will give credit to JJ, Kylo stopping the discharge of a blaster in midair and holding while in a conversation Was original, surprising, and just plan cool. It firmly established Kylo as powerful and skilled.

    I think Luke will have a similar moment in E8, possibly while fighting KOR (not just a force push).

    What would be awesome is if Luke disarmed half the KOR & used their weapons to take out the other half.

    Luke is totally stopping a ship in midflight, anything less would be underwhelming. Personally, I'd like to see him cause an eclipse and once the sky goes dark, he walks on over to go all Gandalf on the KoR and his stupid nephew.

    just from a purely aesthetic pov, Luke blotting out the sun would kinda be antithetical (light and dark and all).
    i'd rather see them enter the fray in darkness and Luke bring the light.
