SPECULATION Lightsaber battles in EP VIII

Luke IS the light in the darkness. Like Assassin's Creed, with force choke instead of a dart.

 

Luke and Rey vs Knights of Ren.

What about Kylo and Rey vs. The KOR ?

 

Well that all depends. Does he quit the kor and become Rey's bff?

 

My guess would be that the KOR would be some sort of presence he thought he had killed off for whatever reasons in the past and they've come back from revenge as Snoke's pawns to either destroy him or test him to see if he can even kill Rey so the two of them HAVE to team up in order to survive

That is a possibilty and hope it may go that way because it would make Rey care about Kylo but after her witnessing him kill Han, would be hard to believe she'd just help him without a good motive to.

I thought Snoke mentions the KoR in TFA? Or something about Kylo being the leader. Can't remember for sure.

But you may be right about he thought they were dead or gone and they come back. Rey's force vision of them seems recent though. So who knows

 

Yeah I said that because the kor are only in one flashback and are never specifically mentioned other than Kylo being their leader from what I remember and he still seems a bit "lost" at the end of TFA

I can't see Snoke using a lightsaber either. Granted, Yoda proved us wrong once, but that wasn't well received everywhere, and considering that Snoke is rendered in ... less than spectacular CGI (IMHO) ... I don't think showing him fight would be in the trilogy's best interest.

I definitely foresee Rey vs. Kylo take 2, maybe even Rey and Luke together vs. Kylo. But I have no specifics in mind at this point.

 

Well I assume he wasn't rendered "great" because he is a hologram.

 

Good point. Episode VIII may well change my opinion! And besides, I've been proven wrong more than once with things I thought "wouldn't work." Get the right people behind it and Snoke with a lightsaber may turn out awesome.

Yeah, same thought. Going out on a limb here, but I could almost see him having a floating seat like Yoda had in AOTC and maybe he could fight sitting on that... I dunno, it's a weird concept, but you never know...

 

Or he could be the equivalent of evil Yoda mixed with Palpatine where he uses the force to manipulate the entire galaxy without anyone knowing and most likely no one knows him yet but he will reveal his full form in a final battle

Along those lines, I wouldn't be surprised if, like Palpatine, the whole "decrepit aging being" thing is a cover-up. In reality, Snoke might be able to rival the best of them in physical combat. I'm sure we'll know if that's the case by Ep. IX, but I feel like they'd keep the suspense going in VIII by keeping things under wraps for a while longer.

 

What if Snoke is wearing a literal mask just like Kylo does and takes it off after they capture Rey and battles her while trying to torture/killn her .

 

It's been said before, but I really just wanna see a character like Snoke who uses the Force, but doesn't necessarily have a lightsaber. That was definitely the impression I got of Yoda and Palpatine in the OT, rather than the whole 'You get a lightsaber! EVERYBODY'S GETTIN A LIGHTSABER!' approach the PT had...

I still want Luke to bust out his ROTJ lightsaber on the Knights or something though.
...You didn't leave it on the Death Star, did you, Luke?!

 

I'm pretty sure you can see it on his belt at the end of ROTJ, so you might get your wish.

 

I liked that they now went completely samurai with the combat. It is especially prominent in the Praetorian scene. The combat also felt a bit more brutal and physical to what we have seen before. Might have been even more awesome with some Taiko drums. Luke versus Kylo was just classical samurai movie style
