    You have a good point Blue, and I understand that the phrase has been institutionalize. The line has been used well in a few cases. For example, an appropriate use of the line was in The New Hope. Just before being pulled in by the Death Star Luke says, "I have a very bad feeling about this." Sure enough, Luke was correct.

    I guess what bothers me with the line is its overuse and misplacement. In some films, its use appears as an afterthought. For example, as C-3PO and R2 approach Jabba's palace C-3PO says to R2, "Artoo, I have a bad feeling about this." I don't understand why C-3PO didn't understand the danger and I don't think a robot has the ability to use the Force. My personal opinion is the line didn't fit the scene.

    And sometimes it has been used to state the obvious, such as, Anakin says, "I've got a bad feeling about this" as Obi-Wan, Padme, and he are about to be executed by three beasts in Attack of the Clones. I don't think it requires the Force to know that being tied to a large pillar, with no weapons, in a hostile environment, and three large, hideous creatures heading toward you is any sort of revelation that something bad is about to happen.

    And also, if you notice, nothing really bad happens. Sure, they get in a tight spot, but the heroes always get out of it without any real damage—except in the first cited case; in The New Hope Luke loses his mentor Obi-wan.

    I've always thought that "I have a bad feeling about this" was a common phrase of the Star Wars universe, and hope it does appear in the new film.

    I agree that most of the dialogue in Episodes I-III is pretty dire.

    Do you even like Star Wars? It's NOT a Star Wars movie without "I've got a bad feeling about this." And the numbers 1138 hidden somewhere. next you'll be saying you don't want anyone to tell C3PO to shut up or Chewbacca to do his snort laugh.

    "Hold Me" Princess Leia (ROTJ) the acting in that scene makes me cringe, and I am not one to critique bad acting, so it has to be extremely bad for me to catch it.

    I never liked that term for a lightsaber, but coming out of kid Anakin's mouth it fits because he doesn't know what he's talking about. I prefer energyblade as Tarkin calls it in the Tarkin novel, which sounds more intelligent.

    Classic Lando, one of his best lines, and should never be spoken by anyone but Lando.

    "You're a Gungan aren't you".

    If there is no gungans than there is no need to say it.

    While the script for the prequels was arse, the delivery of the lines was just as awful. These two factors combined, created a black hole of cringe.

    George Lucas made his actors talk like that because he claimed in the old republic people talked with no emotion. I don't think Liam Neeson and Samuel L. Jackson are as emotionless as their portrayals.
