I only see Luke as bad if he tries to do something that is against the main protagonist (Rey), but for the most part, I see a gray to dark gray Luke who will be an obstacle to overcome and with Rey's help, snap the old man out of whatever has caused him to go down such a dark path.

Luke isn't going to be bad, and will be the last of the Jedi from the old training of the Jedi Order. In the future the Jedi will be individuals more attuned to the living force, akin to Qui-Gon Jinn

Haha bet that's why Rey looks like Qui-Gon! It's a hint at what's to come since most Padawan's take after their Master's.

I believe the twist will be that there are more Skywalkers than we think. I believe Luke have children and Leia has another child beside Kylo Ren, which is a daughter her real life daughter Billie Lourd who is Lieutenant Connix might be Kylo Ren's sister in the Last Jedi and this is one of the twists.

In the Force Awakens she did not have a lot of scene time, but the shot Rey was leaving to find Luke on the Falcon you notice it shows you Leia, sending her off and on the side of Leia was Leutenant Connix and bb8 ,. 3Cp0 they was all standing alone away from the rest of the Resistance forces. I asked my self why did they show Leutenant connix she had no real part not even a long line in the movie, but it can be for shadowing her bigger part in 8 even being the daughter of Leia and Han Solo, and after the death of Carrie Fisher maybe they will give her daughter a bigger part in the Trilogy another way of honoring her mother. With that be said for sure she would also be force sensitive and she also might have a future relationship with Luke Skywalker her uncle.

Next with Luke one of the plots and twist can be that Luke also have children and one of the reason him losing hope with the Jedi way is about his wife. Maybe that grave looking rock in front of him when Rey meet him is his wife grave. His children they can be...................................................

Many great post and theories, and I really have no idea how they are going to show Luke and his feelings. What if Luke can't feel that Han was in trouble or was killed? What if the force powers of the Island and planet are so strong that not only does it hide him from Snoke and Ren, but it blocks him from sensing what is happening with his sister and friends. Just throwing some things out there, I can't see Luke being bad, maybe he is so caught up in the writings and things he has found and it's totally different from what he was taught that he is confused or angry and not sure what to do.
We also need to remember Rey has no idea what Jedi training is about. Heck she thought Luke was a myth, so does she think the Jedi were a myth or even know anything about them? I wouldn't think she would know anything about the Jedi ways or their teachings so what would she be disagreeable about if Luke is training her? She could feel conflict if told she must destroy Ren if as someone posted she felt the good in him, I could see that. But she knows really nothing about the light side and dark side, she has to be taught all this. Like I said I have no idea how this is going to be played out in the movie, these are not theories that I posted but just some food for thought.

The only thing I feel for sure is Luke will not be bad or evil, he may just be somewhat different from what we saw of him in the OT.

Yes Rey has a lot of his appearance in her costume but never let appearance trick you. But from all the legit pictures Star Wars produce for the last Jedi that it released to us about Rey's dress like a Jedi even with her hood.

Deep down (sad news coming--->) Rey is a Mary Sue (don't beat me up yet (duel)) one of the main points and reason to make Rey a Mary Sue is that we don't have to see three or four movies with her just training to be a Jedi (or Grey Jedi new type of Jedi) we see her become one in one movie only so it leaves a lot of screen time to see her fight the ways of the Jedi are known to fight. Instead of waiting such as new hope, empire strike back, and the Return of the Jedi three movies to see a full Jedi in action. It is very clear she is special for this particular reason.

Only reason I can see her being a Jedi so quick because of her skills is so she can lead the new way of Jedi warriors.

I think Luke delved too deep in the study of the force and awakened the dark side of the force itself, maybe an ancient dark side user (Snoke) who's spirit has been trapped somehow. Can there be such a thing as an evil force ghost?

no , i don't see the purpose of it, like Vader becomes good at the end of the Return of the Jedi so now how can Darth Vader force ghost come back bad . I just can't see it, or the benefit it. But it appears to Kylo Ren he does have visions of Darth Vader it can be dreams or a mind trick by Snoke giving Kylo Ren these false visions of Darth Vader.

I really think Luke's line about the Jedi ending in the trailer is being taken out of context. Having Luke turn to the Dark Side would fundamentally destroy the image of him that the Original Trilogy spent so long building. He overcame temptations from Darth Vader and the Emperor, and when no one else could redeem Vader, Luke did. He's the ultimate hero, and it would be extremely disappointing for him to end up being a bad guy.

If Rey is training to be a Jedi in this film—which, she is—and Luke is teaching her, I find it very hard to believe that he's turned to the Dark Side. He probably has different views of the Jedi Order after seeing how his father fell and then watching his nephew go down the same path, a path that he feels responsible for. But if he feels responsible and hates himself for it, why would he turn to the Dark Side? He'd basically be giving up and giving into the very temptation that Ben did.

It makes absolutely no sense for Luke to turn to the Dark Side. I definitely think he's changed a lot since the last time we saw him, but I don't think that he's switched sides. He's probably very conflicted because of what happened with Ben, and Rey coming into the picture will make things even more difficult for him. But if he gives in and trains Rey, which can be assumed based on the information we've been given and the footage we've seen in the teaser, then it's pretty clear that he's still a good guy.

Now where Luke can really be at in 8 Spoiler alert :

This guy says he was let go by LucasFilm and he gives this summary: Luke meets Rey, he tells her how the force brought her to him. Her parents were scared of her abilities. She is told after a couple scenes that she was born out of necessity, that this balance will continue forever with the force, since the beginning all the way to his dad and now her. Luke trains her but tells her after Snoke is defeated, they will cease to fight and will not continue the Jedi order. They have a meditation scene together where she literally walks through a beam of light and she can control everything around her. She can change shapes and warp everything around her. Luke tells her she will be even more powerful than Yoda and she says who? (this got some chuckles). She also battles a creature that Luke claims is filled with evil intent and has been threatening the porgs, creatures more in tune with the force than even himself (think penguins on crack). She defeats this creature only to see it become a ghost of anakin. Basically, Luke has tried to push her emotionally in every direction on the island in order to wake her full potential quickly. He wants Snoke gone now. It’s made clear that Luke is not happy with what Snoke did to Ben and will do anything to make Rey become stronger quickly to destroy him. We get a flashback with Anakin at Luke’s school and everything is destroyed. Luke sees young Ben and says “I don’t want to kill you…but your life is in my hands now”. We learn later Luke knew someone else would come along to balance things out with Ben so he left to get answers as to why the Jedi always fail. He used the force to shut R2 down until this person was found. I’m cutting out a ton of details but basically you find out the force is literally connected to everything and even something like a droid can be aligned to it if it is willed. Rey confronts Luke about his feelings towards the Jedi, his abandonment of his friends and everything that’s happened and they don’t come to an agreement. He speaks with Yoda, she meditates. Yoda admits she is right, that the Jedi of old were hopeful but arrogant and a the dark side of the force can’t be the only future (something like that). Ren spends the majority of the film with Snoke. He’s more unstable and leaves to trace Vader’s life in hopes that he will meet his spirit. From the way Snoke acts, he doesn’t seem to care much. Also, force ghosts can be destroyed. They’re adding new powers into this film the same way J.J./Kasdan added new abilities in TFA. Rian did write the film he wanted but there was definitely things they wanted included in this film for future media. After Finn wakes up, the entire ship they’re on is destroyed. Leia asked him to go find Snoke’s weakness, she’s been told someone has information on how to destroy him and they’ve arrived at the meeting point (a new planet). No one likes Leia on this planet. Rose leaves with him because it’s the last escape pod and her sister trusts Finn. Poe leaves after the ship is destroyed as well with Leia and some remaining resistance. The FO take prisoners. They spend most of the film on the run and meet up with Holdo who immediately butts heads with what they should do next. She wants to have an alliance with the FO, Leia thinks thats a bad idea and in the meantime, sends Poe to rescue the remaining resistance supporters. Finn goes to Snoke’s home planet and finds a crypt. Think dracula. Very expensive looking place and a tomb that’s opened. Basically, we learn Snoke has switched bodies and is actually well liked by a lot of races. No one alive has seen his original body. He’s with Rose and Zenn. All of this takes place after they escaped the “affluent planet” and found the kidnapped resistance members who after these past few years have decided to join the FO. Finn appeals to some of them but not all. This is taking too long and I’m everywhere now in the story so I’ll cut to the chase with everyone. Luke eventually understands that training one person at a time might be the best way forward and thanks to Rey, that this will never end so they’ll have to make their own rules going forward (Anakin told her that repressing your emotions is what leads to their downfall). There will always be someone out there more powerful, good or evil. Ben finds out the location of the island because Rey was alone meditating and he sensed her. Ben doesn’t tell Snoke by the way so something is going on there. Ben fights Rey on the island, wins. Luke destroys Ben’s guards with one move (they come in to attack at once, next shot, they’re all on the ground). This got a great reaction but the move itself was definitely not a typical Jedi action. Ben asks Luke why he failed and that it was his parents fault for not being there for him. Luke asks Ben what he wants and asks him to help take down Snoke, that it can lead him to a new path. Ben agrees. In shock, Rey follows them (Luke has an A wing on the island!). Honestly, the Luke/Rey stuff is way more interesting than Finn’s story. This has almost turned into a weird review haha. The film ends with Luke standing before Snoke as the destroyer flies away. Rey and Kylo flew off after she attacked his ship

There are some interesting elements but its a lot of what we already know spinkled with ideas that have been kicking around in fan speculation even back to TFA.

I believe Luke will just like Yoda as we seen him in the early parts of the trilogy, Luke have the same trials as Yoda had. Some thoughts and similarities between Yoda and Luke.

Yoda seen the Jedi order destroyed by one of their own Anakin Skywalker.

Luke Skywalker she his student and Jedi temple destroy by Ben Solo , Anakin Skywalker grandson.

Yoda went away after the Jedi order was destroyed.

Luke went away after his Jedi temple was destroyed.

Luke went to seek out Yoda to learn about the Jedi way.

Rey went out to seek Luke about the Jedi way.

Yoda had a stick and look strange and grumpy.

Luke now have a stick and looks strange and grumpy.

When Luke meet Yoda for the first time, Yoda was the Last Jedi.

Now Luke Skywalker is the Last Jedi and Rey is seeking him out.

Yoda was very powerful and a Master Jedi.

Luke is a Master Jedi and rumor he is more powerful than Yoda.

Yoda and Obiwan Force ghost want Luke to kill Darth Vader.
Assuming Luke will want Rey to kill the grandson of Darth Vader, Kylo Ren.

Yoda trained Luke who was strong with the force.

Luke now will train some one who is very strong with the force Rey.

Yoda had a student who was Luke and if Luke failed they had hope for some one else to succeed if he lost his sister Leia. As Obiwan's force ghost told Yoda 'Luke is our only hope , Yoda said there is another one'.

Luke will have a student Rey, and if she fails I believe there is another one to take her place Finn because the Force awakens Finn before Rey and these two appears to be connect some how.

Yoda died in front of Luke and told Luke he is the Last Jedi.

Will Luke die in front of Rey and he will tell Rey she is the Last Jedi?

Potential plot details for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is Luke Evil. Part 1

Is Luke evil in the Star Wars sequel trilogy? New evidence suggests that might just be the case in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

There’s been a lot of crazy fan theories raised since Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm in 2012, but none have been quite as hard to shake as the idea of Jedi Master Skywalker succumbing to the Dark Side like his father (and, now, nephew); it was discussed in hushed whispers as The Force Awakens came together and blew up during the “Where’s Luke?” marketing campaign.

Of course, Luke was actually absent from all the trailers and posters because he only had one, brief scene at the very end of the film. And that pretty much shut off the villain talk: the Skywalker that Rey found stood on an Ahch-To cliff looked decidedly un-evil (remember, Star Wars isn’t known for its subtle costume coloring). Instead, all that Dark Luke talk has been transferred into the prevalent theory he’s become “Gray Jedi” – a Force user that taps into both sides of the spectrum – and, as he’s seen training Rey in the trailer, it’s widely presumed he’s on the “good” side of that.

However, it’s now looking like Luke may actually be the villain of The Last Jedi after all: perhaps not an out-and-out Sith Lord or even someone allying himself with trilogy big bad Snoke, but an antagonistic force who will have to show down against an unwitting Rey none the less.

WHAT WE’VE SEEN IN THE LEAKS
In contrast to The Force Awakens, the build-up to The Last Jedi has been dominated by a series of pretty revealing (but not movie-ruining) leaks. The biggest of these was a set of promo photos that gave a proper, full color look at Snoke, glimpses of Rey’s new costume and, most importantly, “Dark Luke”; Skywalker in a darker Jedi robe than what we’d seen in most of the previously-released materials. That alone isn’t enough to build a theory on, of course, but it did highlight the possibility of a more conflicted Luke (again, Star Wars isn’t known for its subtle costume coloring).

But a more recent leak revealed something much more substantial. The typically dependable Making Star Wars shared drawings of two poster designs reportedly being considered for release alongside the next trailer in October. The first appears to be a “main” poster with the majority of the cast featured. The second, however, is a “villain” variant that puts focus on Kylo, Snoke, Phasma et al; and, towering above them in the spot usually reserved for a film’s ultimate foe, is Luke.

Now, these sort of drawings from MSW are usually reliable – they had several accurate sketches of the previous image leaks before they appeared online – so it’s fair to take the posters seriously. And so it appears that the current Lucasfilm marketing plan has Luke lumped in with the villains by October. That’s seismic, not only hinting at Skywalker vs. Rey, but saying that it’s so fundamental to The Last Jedi‘s story they’re going to reveal it before the film comes out.

WHAT OTHER SUGGESTIONS OF DARK LUKE ARE THERE?

Should we be going this way, Dark Luke isn’t the most surprising development. There’s obviously his trailer-capping line where he decrees “it’s time for the Jedi to end“; delivered devoid of any context beyond the fact he trains Rey at some point, this could mean anything, but at the very least indicates an ideological change. Because of that Master/Apprentice relationship, most have assumed it’s not too severe, although we have nothing to really back that up.

Indeed, most word from the cast supports a villain turn. Daisy Ridley said of Rey’s early experiences with Luke that “it is difficult when you meet your heroes because it might not be what you expect” and Hamill infamously said he fundamentally disagreed with what Rian Johnson had planned for his character. There are dozens of things those statements could mean, but a prominent one is making Skywalker an antagonist.
