    I expect that we WILL see Luke with the powers available to him as he's meditated, studied, practiced, and learned for the last 30 years....but he's broken and self loathing as he blames himself for it all. We will see Luke use those powers, but it will be reluctantly and sparingly as he shows that he has the powers and the knowledge to use them which will convince us, but any circus tricks will take away the allure.

    I think so too, I believe most of his screen time will be used in scenes of guidance and teaching with the occasional show of the force, that's until, he realllly has to use it. Then...........gasp.

    This is interesting. What about this: Luke will be reluctant to train Rey too. He would not risk another "Kylo Ren affair", so Rey will have to be strong enough to convince the last Jedi to train her and come back to the civilized world to fulfill his own destiny. Something like an overturned relationship between master and apprentice.

    I imagine that fight like an "end of the days" stuff:

    - rain, thunders and lightnings (like the last fight in Matrix Revolutions);
    - the Knights of Ren make a circle around Kylo and Luke;
    - Rey wounded (maybe after a first fight with Kylo, who cut one of her arms) and taken by one of the Knights, who extract a barbarian-like rusty knife and point it to her throat;
    - Kylo without mask, with that scar which make him finally more similar to his grandfather: "Refuse to fight, my uncle, and then she will be killed";
    - Luke look at Rey with despare in his eyes; Rey look at Luke and whispers: "No...";
    - So, Luke takes off his cloack, and with an high and regal move extracts his saber and ignites it (this has to be the very first moment we see the green saber again since ROTJ); Rey is even more desperate, she cries; the KOR are quite and still around their master; Kylo smirks, and then... the fight begins.

    Guys... I can't wait for this movie!

    I for one hope that we don't see some God-like display from Luke. It will be dull and ruin any tension.
    If Luke has no match then where is the drama?

    For me, I want Luke to be utterly defeated. I want him to have lost his powers and the only thing he has left is his knowledge - which he needs to pass down to Rey. I'd much rather see the KoR hunt Luke down and for him to need protection from Rey.

    I mean, you have to wonder - Kylo Ren isn't stupid. Why does he think he'd be a match for Luke? He was clearly clever enough to wait until Luke was out of the picture before he took down his Jedi students. I think Ren must know that Luke has lost his power and that's why he'd be confident in facing him. Regardless of this so, an uber Luke just doesn't seem interesting to me.

    i would like to see Luke win with wisdom and not might. whether that means he loses his "powers" or just chooses not to use them, i'd prefer the latter.

    Ren isn't stupid, but he is naive (and easily led). if Snoke convinces him of his superiority, i can see Ben being brainwashed enough to go against Luke despite the impossible odds. i agree that über Luke lacks tension and conflict, but Luke is handicapped by the fact that he can't kill Ben; he wouldn't. and that might flatten the odds just enough to keep it interesting.

    Yeah Uber Luke isn't interesting as a plot point really. Superman is boring. It depends how they swing it, if they could effectively swing the narrative so that you Identify with Kylo Ren enough that you partially wan't him to beat Luke then we have a good Anti-hero/Anti-Villain version of Luke vs Vader in the OT.
    Vader was vastly more powerful than luke, but because we we're following Lukes journey that didn't matter. No one compains about uber vader being so powerful that its boring. So If luke was made to seem like an Antagonist it would work with him being super powered.

    I think usually in films you are hoping that the good guy will win. It would be interesting if it got to a point in this trilogy where instead of being like 'Yeah, go Rey! Kick his butt!' the audience are challenged to be like 'But I don't really want Kylo Ren or Luke to die...' I mean Violence is always bad, even justified because 'Villains' don't really exist. Every villain has a mum.

    Kylo vs UberLuke will work if we don't want Kylo to die. Like, if Leia is present during the battle for instance. If we we're to view the conflict through Leia's eyes, Luke being super powered actually adds tension, because we know that if he looses it he might kill Kylo in an instant.

    P.S

    I like the idea that the force left luke. in the same way Qui Gonns energy passed to Obi Wan during the final fight in Phantom Menace. Perhaps Lukes force left him after his padawans died. You have to let it flow through you, and if he closed all his emotional and spiritual gates due to trauma then Kylo may have already won.

    or Luke was trapped on Ach-to for longer than we thought. You know that Snoke is on his mobile station and I always wondered why. Maybe he appears as Luke to others. It would also fit the information in Bloodline, that Luke is mainly only surrounded by his followers and keeps his life private. Maybe also the sentence of Han can be seen in a different light 'People who knew him best'. If Luke is really trapped there for a much longer time, it would also explain a lack of power/practice. What if this place drains from Luke's force powers. ;)

    Except in Superman II when he loses his powers!

    I think Snokey is mobile because he needs to go to different places to absorb Force energy. Places perhaps like the cave on Dagobah. I also think he does this to any Force users he finds. He might have done it to Luke's Jedi. And he maybe wanted to do it to Rey: "bring her to me!".
