Luke wiped R2-D2's memory

    In the MF.com shot list, it says that C-3PO remarks that there's something wrong with R2-D2. I think what's wrong with him is that Luke wiped his memory to prevent him from revealing anything about him. This would be ironic, considering that C-3PO's memory was wiped at the end of Revenge of the Sith.

    Impossible. The entire story of Star Wars is being told by R2 far in the future and is transcribed into the infamous "Journal of the Whills." For GL, that's what we were watching on screen: chapters from that journal.

    It's an interesting idea though. I wonder what is wrong with R2?

    R2's memory does not get wiped fellows. To much history between Luke and the little guy.

    Now, he may have wiped his knowledge of where Luke is.

    I just read it as 3PO translating what R2 is excitedly telling them. But if there is something "wrong" with him, it is probably more like a hidden message that needs a code to unlock it. They probably tried to get R2 to tell them about Luke but he couldn't because he was programmed to not tell anyone until this code was found.

    I think this is close, and honestly, these scripts are so full of cute wordplay they drive me nuts!

    What I get out of this is that something is important is going on with R2, and C3PO can translate for him, or help him in some way.

    It's far more likely R2 remembers more than 3PO. This has occurred before where 3PO suggests R2 is malfunctioning because he dislikes the suggestion or because his own memory was whiped in ROTS.

    Indeed. Or sometimes it wasn't anything to do with the memory wipe exactly, but just that someone gave instructions specifically to R2 and not 3PO. "It wasn't my fault, sir, please don't deactivate me. I told him not to go, but he's faulty, malfunctioning. Kept babbling on about his mission."

    I doubt Luke mind wiped Artoo, he trusts this droid & it trusts him, Threepio as far as I know has been mind wiped only once Artoo never got that chance thanks to Luke's aunt & uncle's death.
