    Edited for clarity:

Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker defends the undeserved repurcussions the Prequels faced, including Jake Lloyd. In essence, he states the repurcussions were over the top and the Prequels were not as bad as they were made out to be.

This is much similar to what is happening now with TFA, as a critical growing fanbase exists who are trashing TFA as "the worst SW movie made".

Over the top, unrealistic reactions to TFA, when it is a solidly good movie and entertaining.

@YubNubBub I think your thread title is misleading, In this video Mark is defending Lloyd's performance and explains what went wrong. It's not like want to start another round of bashing the prequels. I really don't.

In his own words "he did exactly what George wanted him to do, and believe me I know about clunky dialogue"

All the threads he creates remind me of the fights I had back in the TFn/JCC boards. I wonder if he is doing this on purpose, to ignite people on here. I didn't agree at first, when ppl were calling him a troll but...

He did defend the Prequels. He couldn't believe the reactions "You ruined my childhood" etc etc. He understood that people may not have liked them, but they are not as bad as people made them out to be. Exactly what I have been saying all along.

Reporting Official News and saying Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker, defends the Prequels is not trolling. I added the 'Agents of the Empire and Sith Lords' part for flare.

Yes he is. He came here around a year ago under the name "WhymeandmyfriendsdidntlikeTFA" and trolled every single TFA thread. This is one of his comments about TFA:
"It was a horrible movie anyone who says otherwise is not a Star Wars fan and never was."
    https://thecantina.starwarsnewsnet....riends-didnt-like-tfa.7856/page-5#post-244007

Ironically, now he makes prequels threads and demands everyone to like those films and accepts NO opposition.
From the headline of his PT thread:
"Free speech is welcome but this thread was created not for discussion but rather unification of fans of the Prequels. To come together and show why we like the Prequels and socialize, not a debate thread."

There is no such thing as free speech is welcome, BUT...
    This is bordeline fascistic behaviour.

    Lies. Character assassination.

I gave my honest emotional initial response to TFA. I later reversed my opinion, accepting TFA as a SW movie. I even apologized to the mods for emotional driven responses, like you are having now.

And FYI that thread was created for FANS of the Prequels. You can discuss freely in more appropriate threads. You talk about fascistic behaviour when people 'like you' create threads with Polls on removing the Prequels from Canon without even an option for keeping them.

If anyone is trolling it is YOU. Making accusations in a Official News thread that showcases Mark Hamills personal opinion of the undeserved repurcussions of the Prequels and the treatment of Jake Lloyd and George Lucas.

You are the one trolling, not me.

    **********

Yes everyone. Reporting Official News on Mark Hamills response is now labeled as trolling according to the people who hate the Prequels. Heaven forbid anyone defends them or likes them.

Can you now see the bias, and the Sith tactics?????

When I was on the TFN/JCC boards, I walked on eggshells, because I noticed everyone got banned quick. Once I commented truthfully, I also got temp/banned. I haven't experienced this here, since YUBUB haha got here, walking on eggshell on this thread ( and any others he creates, now I know he is a devout prequel fan ) most likely will get a negative rating on this post as well.

I love the prequels because they have some good bits. I have several copies of the films. If I hated them I would never waste my muni on them, like others I know that would never buy them at all. Some of my close friends don't understand why I like them. Some of those guys gave me all of their star Wars toys that I still have and they sold the rest on eBay.

I'm not here to argue or to prove I'm right or your wrong, films are subjective, and people will never agree, or completely change their minds, on a movie they dislike or to go really far hate. It seldom happens... Hamil was diplomatic on the video, on this board because he is a great guy. JJ dislikes the prequels, he has alluded to that several times yet ironically some people hate TFA. (payback haha)

Anyway, films are subjective. People like or hate a movie for whatever reason, its crazy to try to convince them otherwise. For example, for years, I know allot of people that don't care for Blade Runner, it really doesn't bother me at all. I cherish my BR collector's edition, just like my Star Wars collection and no matter what anyone writes or says about those films, it won't change how I feel about those films.

"Character assassination", lol. Someone watched too much election boradcast... Also, what character is still there to kill? Just look at your ratings... You came here to troll TFA and later backed off to be able to create PT praising theards. This is even worse than trolling, as far as I'm concerned.

And you rate my post(s) as trolling, because I responded to a user about my opinion backed with evidence.

I just don't like how some people go around telling everyone how TFA (they usually add Disney as well) is the worst thing ever and if you dare to like it you can't even be considered a SW fan, while simultaniously demanding everyone to like the PT with dictatoric rhetorics (such as excluding freedom of speech).
This is the very worst kind of fan behaviour imo.

    *Edit
There was no lie in my post. Also, please stop with projections and accusing people with lying.

Look at my ratings? Well now, I have both postive and negative ratings. I also don't buck on the truth and it hurts peoples feelings, which is why I do have negative ratings. But exactly how does my ratings and public perception relate to Official News regarding Mark Hamills response to the Prequels?

It doesn't relate. Therefor you resort to an attempt at character assasination, as I said previously.

Yes, you did indeed lie. You offered my post up as "trolling" based on conjecture. You had no proof to backup your claim, only citing a prior opinion which I later reversed along with the negativity replied based on my opinion. You, again, resorted to character assasination tactics.

I reversed my opinion regarding TFA. I am passionate about the saga and formerly wrote against it. I then reversed my opinion. Your point is null and void citing an old post, and once again an attempt at delegitimizing this thread, while it remains official news.

You offer your personal feelings into a thread that was created to Officially report on Mark Hamills comments. You offer your personal feelings on my ratings, you offer your personal feelings, period.

But practitioners of your tactics are adept at offering up conjectures as proof and making baseless accusations in a thread that simply reports on Mark Hamills response to the Prequel repurcussions.

Someone tell me exactly how reporting Official News on Mark Hamills response to the repurcussions of the Prequels is trolling?

    Its not!

Instead they wish to silence any rebuttal of defense for the Prequels. Why? Because you are not allowed to like the Prequels. Fascism.

It dosen't, I guess... I never said it does though. I said your whole activity on the Cantina is mostly trolling.
You take this way too seriously, like most PT fanatics do. I have no problem with the prequels. I praised them many times here. What I have problem with, is the fascist fanatics. Luckily there are only very few in the Cantina.
So, I had no evidence, only a post by you... Can you feel the contradiction? Also, "reversing" an opinion does not opt you out. Sometimes you have to take the responsibility for your deeds. Especially on the interntet where everything is archived.
I have no problem with passionate feelings towards a movie.

    This however:
"anyone who says otherwise is not a Star Wars fan and never was"
Is not about the movies. It's just a general insult to people. You can't say such things even if you hate a movie with passion, in my opinion. At least not here. This is a civilized forum.

Again your citing old news. First, I wrote my own rebuttal against that thread and posted it publicly. In the end TFA, stands firmly in SW lore, as does the Prequels.

What I posted was merely that Mark Hamill defends the Prequels, and he did. Not necessarily the content, but the reaction. The reaction and brutal tactics used against Jake Lloyd and the other things, were indeed of Sith origin. I added the "agents of the Empire and Sith Lords" part because it is true, anyone who shreds a 10 year old actor because he selfishly didnt live up to your expectations, indeed acts like a Sith.

Mark Hamill is completely justified in his statements. Yes there was clunky acting, yes there was indeed low points. But every human being is entitled to his opinion, rather than to be trashed for his opinion much like people have done with the Prequels. I also am guilty of that, in the thread you cited. But I also made my own amends, apologizing to moderators and staff, and even writing a rebuttal to my own statements. I owned up to it.

So you made a baseless accusation of trolling when I simply reported the news, and as have others. Indeed you actually owe me an apology. I have not interjected my personal opinion other than anyone who was so brutal I equated to agents of the Empire and Sith Lords, which much similar to Mark Hamill, view it as justified.

Again, this was simply news of Mark Hamills rebuttal about the Prequels. I would appreciate it if you and others would retract your statements of me "trolling" and indeed see this thread created as it really is.

If you don't then its apparent me, Mark Hamill, and others are not even allowed to discuss such things because we are all obviously "trolls".

When in fact people are acting unfairly, and continue to act unfairly and treat others with disrespect who point out the repurcussions were beyond undeserved.

I had much the same experience with TF.N back in the day, and left that site for good (after years as a regular poster) when the mods went on a rampage and started purging the forums of "bashers" in about 2005 or 2006. The site had become far more about the mods than about discussion of the Star Wars films, and there wasn't really any point in participating in something like that.

I've said this before in other discussions when the matter has popped up, but when we first began setting things up for the Cantina here, one of our guiding principles was that we were not going to fall into the same ego-driven traps that TF.N fell into. Particularly the tendency for their mods to micromanage forum members' posts and opinions.

Fascism, you say? Have you been censored by any member of the staff here for liking the prequels?

Near as I can tell, you're upset at being disagreed with by other forum members. And, while it's never pleasant to be disagreed with, it's hardly anything that can reasonably be considered "fascism". Especially if you are creating prequel discussion threads in which you dictate the terms by which people are allowed to post in those threads. It's virtually impossible to quash debate in an online forum in the first place, and it's certainly not the way we run the Cantina.

No. Indeed I am allowed to voice my opinion.

That thread you cite, was a polite exhortation to allow us Prequel fans a thread where we didn't get trashed for liking the Prequels, which regularly happens on these forums.

I respect everyones opinion, even if I disagree. This thread was official news, and Mark Hamills opinion. That was not any attempt as "trolling" as I was accused of. Yet my voice was attempted to be silenced and discredited as "trolling" and character asassination, to the point I had to defend myself, and Mark Hamill.

That indeed is facism, being intolerant of Mark Hamills comments, and my post of Official News regarding Mark Hamills statements. It is one thing to state an opinion, debate an opinion, it is another to try and silence and discredit an opinion because you disagree.

It's not like he's allowed to talk negatively about the franchise... But I think it was genuine there.
It's not like Lucas was forced to write a kid Anakin... I agree with Hamill though, people should stop bashing Jake Lloyd's performance if they still do. Although I don't really feel the need to defend him nowadays. I mean, it's mostly the ST and its actors which and who are being bashed recently. In fact, the PT is living its renaissance imo (how those were at least original, as some say).
At least it wasn't me who rated your posts as trolling (like you did with mine, when I was clearly not trolling, opposition is not trolling).
I just commented on your entire activity here. But I didn't intend to hurt you feelings. Please accept this as a redress:

I agree, I think everyone has their own relationship to Star Wars, and whatever that is, it's special to them, obviously. Same for me. I love the stories Lucas puts forth in the prequels, but I have a hard time watching any of them because I don't like the way that they were told - the directing, the script, etc. But so what? I'm into this to be into this as a fan - not to be a film critic about things in the prequels that everyone already debates about endlessly, anyway. Anyone who loves Star Wars - any of the films - is my friend, unless they start working to make me an enemy. In which case just I put on the kid gloves and ignore them until they go away. Life's too short for that silliness. I figure, I pay to watch movies, I don't get paid for it, so why try to be righteous? Like you said, it's crazy to try to convince people to like or dislike anything anyway. I think it's better to just share what you like and leave the rest alone, because it's all too easy to end up at each others' throats.

That being said, I'm sure happy to see Mark defending the actors in the prequels. That's the essence of why I love Luke Skywalker - standing up for those you believe in. I also appreciate the openness of this forum - even if the debates really heat up, I'd still rather be here than on the TFN boards. And Blade Runner is awesome. :p

Hamill is the man. Can't wait to finally see him as Jedi Master Luke. TLJ is even more hyped to me than TFA.
