Small question: is it me or many parts from the music in the trailers do not appear on the soundtrack?
I've listened for many times already and I don't seem to find some of the parts that I was hoping to....

The music from the trailers was, for the most part, composed for the trailers and by multiple people who were inspired by Williams.

Of the new music, I think only Rey's Theme/Scavanger appears in one of the trailers/TV spots, the rest is made by other people.

Yes, TPM used the OT trilogy Star Wars score for the first trailers also.

Lot's of films use other music composed by other artists until the release or the score is finished.

Which theme in particular are you guys referring to? As far as I can tell all trailer music is 100% Williams and great part of it is from the new soundtrack.

TPM kind of had no choice, though .

Because it was the first Star Wars film knocked 20+ years and the only music available of its film-quality was The OT soundtrack before JW scored TPM .

I have noticed a few differences between the CD soundtrack and the film soundtrack, but it is more complete than the prequel soundtrack releases originally were. I'm hoping for a complete soundtrack to TFA eventually, like they did for the OT and TPM.

I'm afraid that the reason why this soundtrack is not "bombastic" as the previous ones is because of the direction.

Lucas pushed Williams forward and said "I want this to sound like this, and I want that thing to give an impact" while JJ seems to be content with everything on the first site, whatever Maestro makes.

I think Kylo theme still served it's purpose having that uncertain, sinister tone to it, and the lighter, nostalgic tunes though were so beautiful they literally pushed me over the edge emotionally in the end when Luke finally shows up.

There's a part of the trailer music with the Falcon in hyperspace that gets me every time - a real climax that almost seems synthetic - is that on the soundtrack?
