    Hey gang,
No comics this week, but that should not keep you from reading. Make sure to get your hands on Shattered Empire #1. If you haven't read any of the literature released, the staff has been raving about Lost Stars. I just finished it a few days ago and it's great. It has all the humanity and adventure we look for in a good Star Wars yarn. It's a quick read, too.

Also, here's some Star Wars homework: watch one of the prequels with a kid. Your own children, a niece or nephew, or try to set up a movie night with friends that have kids. This may sound silly, but I experienced The Phantom Menace in a whole new light after watching it with my son last week. He'd never seen any of the prequels. I raised him on the OT, but his mind was blown. The prequels get a lot of crap. George Lucas has been unapologetic about the fact he made them for kids, so watching it through the eyes of a kid who gets consumed by the whole spectacle is pretty cool. I'm not a prequel basher, but I'm not a prequel lover. That being said, I'm glad younger children get sucked right into them and respect that they have value to the SW universe.

Too bad. The comics are keeping me sane while I am waiting for that thing to drop which does not drop. Aargh!

I feel your pain. I'm still baffled when I meet fans that are not reading these, simply because they don't like comics. They are missing out on some killer stories. Hold tight. Come December, we'll have enough Star Wars reading and watching to tide us over for a long time.

@Kyle I watched TPM a few weeks ago with my four year old daughter (the oldest of my 4 kids). That movie is my least favorite Star Wars film but my daughter loved it and I loved watching her watch it. She loves little Ani and the pod race and yes... Jar Jar too

She's seen ANH (I sold it to her by telling her there's a princess) and she enjoyed it-- i think, but TPM had more for her to enjoy because it WAS made more for kids.

I look forward to the day I can share the other movies with her but in the meantime, there's plenty of Star Wars media for us to enjoy together. (The Lego Star Wars shows are hilarious!)

    P.S. I still can't stand Jar Jar

Yes, my feelings about Jar Jar have not changed. I'm glad your daughter likes it. My son is 7 and the first time I showed him ANH his mind was blown. I think it's a huge testament that kids as spoiled with SFX and computer rendered animation as ours are still enjoy a film like ANH. Thanks for sharing how it went with me.

My son has seen them all at this point. The only one he's not crazy about is Revenge of the Sith, mostly because of the Anakin-burning-alive scene I forgot to skip over. There goes my father of the year award.
