    that IS in the book.

And I hope they'll add it to a Director's cut, because I think it's pretty fun.

to much and to long. One of the best points of the film was the speed in which it covers ground. IMHO!

    Which part, exactly?

For the record, I was talking about the movie itself, not the novelization.

But we need further information of which iteration got leaked. I don't know if it got cut or never made it into the final draft. The last time official sources for example mentioned the Warhammer /sledgehammer was in the artbook in the concept phase. Doesn't look like a rendering just a concept.

    the speeder ride.
    That was a fun part.
In the middle of it Finn and Rey switch places because Finn needs to get a shot at the guy following them and Rey is kinda a sorry shot, but a great pilot and Finn basically just hits everything he aims at and it reads awesomely dynamic.

Kylo's reaction to the news that FN-2187 and BB-8 have been joined by a girl from Jakku is a bit curious though...

The speeder chase is there as @Fussel2107 has mentioned, and while there's no EMP, Hux does order the use of "seekers" which causes an officer to hesitate, saying "In an atmospheric skirmish, sir, seekers will have a hard time distinguishing between our fighters and those of the enemy." Hux responds saying, "This is no time to worry about collateral damage.Give the order."

Thats the main reason i don't like this movie its too fast paced and as a result theres no tension. Does the novel have more scenes with han solo , finn and rey.

More scenes? Not really... it's mostly just extended scenes.

No. And I was glad it didn't. But then I'm one of these people who wants to sacrifice half the frieghter scene AT LEAST and add to background stuff later in the control room and with Leia and the Republic and the run up tp the infiltration of the starkiller base

I don't seem to see this as clearly - but I may have missed some things. I thought I heard Kylo himself mention something like [paraphrase] "she's untrained but she's getting stronger every moment".

I assumed it was unusually strong force ability (on top of an existing weapon skill base) coupled with intuition and quick learning (like Luke) that allowed for her prowess.

Or vice versa. I'm liking what these storytellers have done; retaining layers and depth, defying explanation, ignoring begging questions, embracing ambiguity, challenging the audience out of passivity, and allowing multiple exposition interpretations that all work.

Do either of them know each other?
How much training (if any) have they received?
Have their memories been interfered with?
    Who helped raise them?

At the moment at least we get to choose our own stories, this vagueness is a virtue. Like Han and Leia's past, we're left to make of it what we will at this stage - smart storytelling methinks.

I agree, I didn't like the freighter scene at all. It felt very rushed, low stakes, and pointless. I would have preferred some actual background and reactions to the Hosnian thing.

The book says master of the knights of ren.

I had a theory I posted here that I believe Poe's parents may have raised Rey for some time. My theory was about 50% correct and I didn't not read the MSW full synopsis. I thought the novel made it clear Snoke and Kylo knew who Rey was at the end.

It would be very parallel to Luke and Anakin if Luke doesn't know he has a daughter. I hope they don't do this.

I think Leia may know who she is too. There is a touching scene at the end when Rey is about to leave to find Luke. Leia is messing with her jacket and has the inner thought of this is not very General like but she doesn't care. She tells Rey that she is very brave for going to find Luke. It was very touching and makes it seem Leia knows more but doesn't say anything. To me it seems like if this was just some girl she would not have had this moment. I could be wrong and it.could be that she knows Rey got close to Han and they have that connection but I thought it was more.

Yeah I feel we need more political context for the situation Leia is dealing with (does The Resistance have the full support of The Republic? Is there dissension? Is Leia going rogue or making questionable decisions?), and some larger galactic context for those planets getting destroyed by Starkiller. As it is, I felt no emotional impact when they were destroyed, more like a muted confusion as to what significance those specific planets had, along with the verbatim thought "Wait -- was that Maisie Richardson-Sellars? Is she dead? Is that it?"

I think the novelization does explain some things in the movie and does a better job to expand upon them, I am listening to the audiobook right now.

This is how I would have changed it...

Falcon leaves Jakku just like it does in the book/film.
They hear a noise, go look outside the cockpit, as per usual... but then Finn identifies the Finalizer approaching in the distance, so assumes the ship swallowing the Falcon is the First Order. Han and Chewie board the Falcon... similar kind of intro as before, etc,.
First Order hails the freighter, as it is locked in the Finalizer's tractor beam, Han asks the theives to give him a reason why he shouldn't turn them over. They tell him about the droid and mention Luke...
Han decides to help them out, and comes up with an idea.
He responds to the First Order's communications (basically identifying himself), makes up some kind of excuse about some kind of malfunction or something... He rigs stuff to explode, and uses the distraction to escape in the Falcon.
When Han meets Maz, she make's a comment about cargo people were expecting, and Han says something like "if they want it, they can get it from the First Order."
No gangs, no rathtar... and the First Order still walks away with the same knowledge.... there's just no wounded Chewie... but there could be some way to get that in there.

people get wounded in explosions. Thrown around, whatever.

Good, short, precise. I am pretty sure have seen that in one of the OT movies, ... oh yeah, the trash exhaust in ESB, but hey....
    It's a good trick.

I just finished the novel, what do you guys make of the final exchange between Leia and Rey?

Standing at the foot of the ramp, an uncertain and uneasy Leia found herself fiddling with the seals on the front of the jacketRey was wearing.Foolish nonsense, she told herself even as she continued. Unworthy of her status and position. But it felt so right, and so natural, to be doing so.

“I’m proud of what you’re about to do,” she told the girl.

Rey replied in all seriousness. “But you’re also afraid. In sending me away, you’re—reminded.”

Leia straightened. “You won’t share the fate of our son.”

“Iknow what we’re doing is right. This is how it has to be. This is how itshouldbe.”

Leia smiled gently, reassuringly. “I know it, too. May the Force be with you.”

She watched until Rey was inside the ship and the ramp had closedbehind her. Then she joined Poe, BB-8, and C-3PO in moving to a safe distance.
