So this rumour about Maise Richardson-Sellers being in TFA won't go away. I certainly don't object if she is but I do if they are going to make her a descendant of Obi-Wan. It just feels too contrived. I personally don't like retro fitting characters and story lines. "Oh what you don't know is that Obi-wan had a secret romance between such and such" no, just no.

Personally I have absolutely no problem with Obi-Wan having had a romance between RotS and ANH. Being a lonely hermit must've been rather lonely, and rumors suggest we will get one or more Obi-Wan spin-offs at some point, during which such a romance might be interesting to explore. (Mind you, it might be interesting unless the romances is written by GL...)

I don't know how legit the source is, but everyone is presuming because she might be related him, that she's his daughter?

She could be the daughter of a cousin or sister of his? Niece?

Perhaps she is in VII, but they don’t reveal the story of Obi-Wan’s romance until his spinoff. So, then the reveal in Ep VII that she is Crazy Old Ben’s daughter won’t feel as contrived?

LOL, sounds like old Ben had a hard day chasing Tuskin, and followed it with one too many drinks at the cantina. :p

Maybe we’ve been barking up the wrong tree on the spin-off front. These aren’t action or sci-fi. “Obi-Wan” will be an old school comical farce about a lecherous former Jedi who likes to get drunk and pick up women at the local Cantina. But things take a turn for the worse when he hits on Jabba the Hutt’s new slave girl and has to dress in drag and pretend to be her hand maiden to conceal his offense. And a drunken “Benjamina” Kenobi finds himself conscripted into Jabba’s service and must find a way to weasel his way out of imprisonment by taking to the stage as part of the Max Rebo’ Bands new act.

Worth it for the scene where Boba Fett awkwardly hits on Kenobi in drag alone.

I don't mind the idea of offspring continuing the story. It's convenient way to create characters that the audience will respond to in a positive way while eliminating the need for a ton of backstory (The daughter of Han = wow, cool! whereas a female character who comes out of nowhere gets little / no reaction and has to be explained somehow).

My fear is that there will be all these characters--most of whom being a son, daughter, or relation to an OT character--to simply carry a familiar name or trait through the next three movies. Hopefully this won't be the case...

Someone speculated it was Obi's niece, his brother Owen's daughter. In the EU ObiWan mentioned a brother named Owen who still lived on Obi's home planet of Stewjon with their parents. It was some kid's book so I don't know if it was canon in the Legends continuity.

Should the rumor that Maisie Richardson-Seller has been cast be true, could it be that the reason for it being super secret is that she is not intended to have a role in SW7? What if she was cast for a spin-off or SW8+? There might even have been shooting going on behind the scenes for non-SW7 productions. Perhaps she will, at best, have a short cameon that sets her up for another production, for instance the 2016 spin-off movie?

(Note that I have not been following all the rumors and "leaks" very closely, and this is just a random guess of mine. However, I have repeatedly wondered if some of the rumored but not confirmed actors and acresses might actually have been signed for other projects. If they have a clear image of what's to come in the SW galaxy, they could even run casting for spin-offs or SW8 durng the SW7 sessions. Well, that's my 2 space credits anyway).

Well... Kenobi could've had a brother who had a son who had a daughter... Idk, I'd rather see another Windu in the ST but maybe that's just me. Lol

To be honest, she's probably just a silent character or not an important role. Think Keira Knightly in The Phantom Menace.

Windu, Descendent, I'm cool with. :)

But please, no more written characters like Mace Mr Captain Obvious Windu. Aside his glare of fury and his epic moment in beheading Jango, the rest of him was to recap exposition through out the PT.

Maisie Richardson Windu is far better than I convoluted story about Obi Wan's black daughter/descendant.

Simply from a realism stand point, I'm not a fan of characters changing race (Morrison-MVS) or randomly retconning a character to have a child nobody knew about that's a completely different race.

Having every new character related to an old character makes the world feel small. If Driver and Ridley are solos, boyega is calrissian, isaac is darklighter, red head dude is skywalker, christie is a dooku, this person is a kenobi, and etc....It would be bizarre.

Bib Fortuna should have a daughter, Miss Fortuna.

She trips on bar stools and loses her ship at gambling

They did say they didn't want this trilogy to be trapped by the skywalker/solo lineage. Hell, I'm all for none of the new cast being related to the old cast, makes the Galaxy more expansive.

Well, Maisie is not fully black. She's actually mixed.

My co-worker looks Scadanavian, yet her mom is pure African.

So it's really not about changing race here... rather it's about genetics.

Now, if Boyega turns out to be Obi's son, then I'll say you might have a point. :p

Some role SHOULD be related, and oddly I do like the idea of a Dooku descendent. There's actually some interesting possibilities there.

If Oscar is a Darklighter, I could see that, and it wouldn't be a big deal because 98% of Star Wars fans don't even know who Biggs is, let alone that his last name was Darklighter. My only question would be when Biggs had time to make a baby (he was basically Luke's age and then was busy at the academy and then the rebellion). Maybe Mr. and Mrs. Darklighter had another kid to replace Biggs when he died.
