RUMOR Official Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelson) discussion

To find the leak mentioned by Tarkin after he swooped in and took over command of the Death Star. Tarkin likely knew he would do that, which is why he was more than happy to wipe the facility (and his competition) off the map.

Still iffy in my opinion

 

Think of it this way: the last obstacle in the way of Krennic securing command of the finished Death Star is a leak of unknown severity. Krennic believes that if he ties up this last thread, he can win favor with the Emperor, and Tarkin will have to back down. He just doesn't know enough about the little Imperial Triumvirate to know he is wasting his time.

I haven't read the Tarkin novel, but is Krennic mentioned in it? If not, should he really be?

Only so much in that Tarkin mentions he wants someone to be overall responsible for the project, upon which blame can be laid in the event of failures, keeping him nice and tidy in the eyes of Sheev. So yes, but only in position.

Actually ties in quite nicely with his actions in the film.

I dunno... the more I ponder this, the more I have to think that the current seat of the galactic government had to have more in population than Alderaan. Plus, that wasn't the only planet in the system that got obliterated by Hux and Starkiller..

Maybe. But the question was basically who has the most kills in the SW universe, not mentioning anything regarding eras, so.....

 

Just reading the catalyst book and it really fleshes out Kendrick and explains a lot of his actions and i think it makes the movie even better. Have yet to read Tarkin yet.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but I absolutely love the costuming choices for Krennic. Really conveys that the Empire conceives itself to be a bulwark of law and order. On "the side of the angels," so to speak, unlike those dastardly Alliance terrorists.

In the same vein, Orson Krennic's name is a pun on two famous artists: director Orson Welles, naturally, but also German Renaissance painter Lucas Cranach.

 

I like it too (because I always thought his kind of uniform would rather belong to the 'Engineering Corps') but I haven't heard yet anybody wondering or complaining what Krennic did to the conjectural ANH character of 'Yularen' or rather the 'Imperial Security Bureau'.

 

I imagine the ISB is a pretty large organization, and I doubt Yularen and Krennic would have had much reason to cross paths. Agent Kallus is in the ISB, too, for reference.

 

I hope he shows up again in rebels or a comic...great character that was snaked by Tarkin!
