Reminds me of the Comic Infinities-Series with the White armor Vader...

I voted for Luke joining Vader in ESB, simply for the most variance. Vader didn't join Luke or the Rebellion in RotJ, but it's almost as if he indirectly did, so the alternate history for that wouldn't be too great of a divergence.

Plus it'd make RotJ be a redemption story on a grander scale, perhaps even a double-redemption. Perhaps Leia would be more in the mix for the conversion as well.

Just to play around, imagine the biggest twist: Palpatine realizes the error of his ways, kills Vader (still influenced by the Dark Side), lets Luke go, orders a ceasefire, and then steps down.

VERY hard choice, but VADER deceiving the Emperor & see him struggle to get back to his old self could be interesting (instead of Luke "redeeming" him, although he ultimately did that himself) but seeing a long struggeling selfmade choice to break the Emperors power over him would be IMO more interesting than seeing Luke fall.

that would be the weirdest scenario, the emperor turning to the lightside, joining Luke & leaving Vader lost, bitter & alone filled with anger

How about this, Wicket turns out to be a mastermind and seems dumb perhaps, but in the same ship as Luke he some way makes it to the Death Star and destroys Sidious,Vader and Luke. He is the yet most powerful force-user of all time and manipulates the whole galaxy. Mohah Lord Wicket

Seriously it is so painful seeing Vader waiting so long before interacting while Luke is being hit by force-lightning or is it just me. Vader just standing there for a minute or so.

How long would it have taken Sidious to know something was up if Vader left with Luke in that hallway? I wonder....

I think Vader joining the rebellion is a ridiculous notion. Vader is so deep in the darkside (he killed jedi younglings in ROTS) he has so much blood on his hands and he craves power above all else. Granted he has some feelings for Luke being his son but only a glimpse of humanity within him remains. It is understandable that it takes Luke to be at deaths door before Vader turns on his master. A conversation with Luke in that corridor wouldn't be enough to sway him at that point. I don't even completely buy the vader redemption bit. It always seemed a nice way to tie up loose ends. It actually opens up another scenario. What if Vader didn't die like he did at the end of return of the jedi? I don't think that after killing the emperor he would have turned to the lightside. His acquisition of status as sith master would be something I don't believe for one moment he would've thrown away. I think he would have continued to try to recruit Luke as his sith apprentice. I prefer the idea of Luke joining his father in TESB if Vader had convinced him overthrowing the emperor would have been good for the galaxy. All the time Vader has his own ulterior motive for gaining ultimate power.... I would have liked the conclusion to have been vader kills emperor and Luke kills Vader once he realises Vader's betrayal. It would have been a more interesting and darker story but maybe not the right story in terms of the OT being a fairy tale and not a tragedy.
