I was giving this some thought while I was with my friend, and he said there is something, that makes them the same but different.

Except for the ,,Star Wars" in the title and a couple similar plot points/scenes, there isnt really anything in common. The pacing, editing, visual style, characterisation, narrative and the overall storytelling technique is entirely different.

Not sure where you got that but those numbers are fake. These are the actual RT numbers for the entire saga

Frankly, even if they were the actual ratings, similar receptions by no means equals similar movies. The OT had "signature" storytelling techniques and quirks that the PT completely missed. The same is true vice versa as well.

These are actually based on the original reviews, that being said I wasn't the one who scored them.

Sorry but those aren't ORIGINAL scores.

Those arent the original scores, just fakes made by someone. Its really easy to copy-paste a couple of numbers in photoshop. Its ridiculous to assume that ESB once had 63% on RT. Or do you have any evidence which confirms those are really the original scores?

So you think it's ridiculous heh? Everyone knows that A New Hope at the time, was seen as the best out of the OT. There have been two accounts in which, the movies were scored with only original reviews. You can look it up, although finding the other might be weird.

So where is this feature on rotten tomatoes that lets you filter to only "original" reviews? I don't see that as an option.

I wasn't the one who scored them first of all, second you use reviews from when their were released. That said I have more pictures to show similarities, requesting help.

The point of my questions was that I don't see any advanced functionality for filtering RT numbers to a specific date range. Which is what you would need in order to get these "original" numbers you are referring to. Maybe there is some sort of secret functionality I'm not aware of, but I think you were probably duped by someone with a doctored image and an agenda to show lower scores for the OT.

As a matter of fact, looking deeper into the OT scores. There is only one critic review from the 1977 run of ANH on RT. And that one is fresh. So, by RT standards, ANH should be at 100% fresh for its "original run". It do see some reviews listed with a newer date than initial publication (See Gene Siskel's 2005 reprint of a 1977 review posted as if it was from 2013) but this only lends credence to the idea that it would be impossible to apply the sort of date based filter within RT that you think created the aforementioned fake images.

Basically, if you wanted to really dive into reviews from time of release, we'd need to go back through the newspapers and magazines that did the reviews at the time because the majority have not been added to RT being that the site obviously didn't exist during the theatrical run of the OT.

I'm sorry I'm laughing so much, I think you are the one that's duped, I'm sorry but most of the older fans, were aware of this and did anything they could, to supposedly defend the OT. That being said, I'm surprised you didn't find any of the reviews, there is about 173 OT reviews, ANH(50), TESB(67), ROTJ(56), and that's pretty much all I know. I've seen most of them, btw do you think you can look up some OT miniatures and sets for me please? Note: this all just based on those reviews and receptions when first released!

Ohhh...is this one of those crazy Millennial vs Gen X, PT vs OT things? That wasn't really clear from the OP. Yeah...not really interested in that. Sorry, I came in to discuss facts as I thought it was a serious discussion of critical reception of the films thus far. But there doesn't seem to be much interest in facts in here I guess.

I'll leave you guys to...whatever this is then.

Whatever, and it's not this is actually saving the OT from being further dishonored, because it seems to me you didn't read what I said. You can't ignore it, because I had already told you how many reviews I know of. Oh and you leaving proves my point.

When you provide any sort of evidence outside of a doctored picture and some incorrect review totals, I'll be happy to come back and discuss. I have no care whether you are right or wrong about the numbers. I think its interesting either way. But there's no point in debating the merits of something that has no basis in reality.
