Except George Lucas and no one currently in Lucasfilm wrote the character. Would you call it baseline arrogance for Rian Johnson, Kathleen Kennedy, and the story group to think they're right?

George doesn't get a say, he sold the character. He can say "That's not what I would have done." but that means jack-squat. He didn't care enough to do it himself or to keep the franchise and bring in other directors to direct his vision. And no it isn't base arrogance for RJ and KK to say that they got it right. It was theirs to do.

I don't understand of all the possible scenarios to decide on what went down with Kylo and Luke, THAT"s what you came up with ?? What happened to the whole Bloodline plot about Leia not telling Kylo about Vader? As simplistic as it is, they could have used that and see how Luke dealt with it. Don't dump it on his character. Sure, you want to move Skywalker out because LFL didn't know what to Luke, wanted to build the new characters, and you underestimated Mark Hamill, but do it in a more classier way, not drag the character through the mud and focus on showing off stylistic film making elements over giving a legacy character a fair and righteous tribute. And I was someone who was very open to a down, guiltridden Luke, but that story line with Him and Rey did not do the character any justice, nor the character of Rey for that matter. Plus alot of other things in the move I had problems with.

I disagree too, making Luke a child in his sleep murdering psycho is beyond everything I thought would happen.

Uhhh....he was going to ignite the saber and strike down Kylo. Then he stopped himself. Yes Kylo is his nephew but Luke had been sensing him turning to the darkside. At that point Kylo wakes up and ignites his saber, Luke parries it, then Kylo dropped the house on him.

Pure hyperbole. "Murderer" indicates someone that has murdered. Luke did no such thing. The thought entered his mind and was gone in a flash, as Luke said. Every one of us has had a moment where a horrible thought fleetingly flashes through our minds but is gone in an instant. Luke is a man, not god.

but Luke entering with a loaded weapon is the problem. The boy (his family) was sleeping and not his enemy.

You clearly don't understand how difficult and time-consuming it is to produce a film, do you?

Lucas produced story treatments for the sequel trilogy. So yeah, he clearly did care about his franchise and gave Lucasfilm valuable information that they refused to use. Try and spin it however you like but when both the creator and actor disagree with you, you're doing something wrong. No two ways about it.

Uhh.....if my relative was training to be one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy, and had started to exhibit negative "darkside" tendencies....oh, let's say the SAME "tendencies" that your father did as he turned into the the most powerful feared hated monster in the galaxy.....then I cannot with complete certainty say I would not do what Luke did!!!

ähmmm, maybe watch ROTJ again and when Luke surrendered to Vader. This Luke characterization in TLJ felt so false, it is not even funny anymore.

Speaking of spin... How can you sit there and try and act like George cared what happened? Like he is some sort of martyr in all of this. He owned it all. He could have written an outline, hired writers to fill in the details, approved what he liked and hired a director to do that job. If he cared, he would have done it. He didn't need the money, he just found that it was worth more to get paid from it than it was to see it live with his personal vision.

As for who is doing what wrong, critic reviews and box office returns speak a lot louder than fans who are bent because their head-canon was blown away.

So, have you not seen the film or are you purposefully ignoring the context of that moment?

This is not some choir boy at summer camp.....think about the context!!! He was training to be one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy and Luke sensed him turning into one of the most powerful destructive beings.

yes, that's what I fear this will be turned, some depressive reality thing. Star Wars has always been a fairy tale and if this is not happening anymore, it is time for me to leave.
