    Okay, guys and girls - let's settle this here and now. In light of the final issue of Marvel's Poe Dameron series that showcased some truly amazing flying skills by the book's titular character, the discussion of who is actually the best pilot in the Star Wars galaxy has surfaced once again.

    We know Poe is undoubtedly "one helluva pilot". In The Force Awakens, he's referred to as "the best pilot in the Resistance", but his actions at the battle of Takodana in TFA, his single-handed assault on the First Order cruiser in The Last Jedi, and recent issues of the Poe Dameron series seem to indicate he might be an even better pilot than that - arguably even the best in the galaxy. But is he the best of all time?

    What about Anakin, Luke, or Han? Where do these ace pilots stack up against one another? Here's your chance to share your opinion.

    I wish I could say Kylo Ren, but unfortunately we haven't seen much of that. So I would say it's either Han, Anakin or Poe. I tend to Anakin. In the old EU Boba Fett and Jaina Solo were also amazing pilots.

    Poe is the only one to fight a star destroyer alone.

    He's definitely the best.

    And he took down Star Killer too as well as 13 TIE fighters in 10 seconds.

    I voted for Han Solo as the best, I'd have Wedge Antilles up there too.

    At this point chronologically, all the competitors are dead, so Poe is definitely the best. As for overall - Han and Hera managed at some points rather miraculausly evade Darth Vader, but I don't remeber anybody actually taking him down in a duel. So, between Poe and Anakin it will be unresolved, unless we get to see Poe running a simulation against Darth Vader at some point (the result may or not be accurate enough).

    I love Han as much as the next guy, but saying he's that far above even Vader is a stretch.

    I'm solely judging the films; not the Expanded Universe... so I have no clue what Disney's new EU has to say.

    My beloved Darth Vader never did a damn thing as pilot in the first three movies.

    Guess I should have checked which forum this was in BEFORE posting....

    The recent comics have really done a great job fleshing out just how deadly of a pilot Vader is. But for the sake of argument, I would say that it's heavily implied in the originals that Vader is an amazing pilot. In A New Hope, Obi-Wan actually says of Anakin "He was the best star pilot in the galaxy". Later, at the Battle of Yavin, Vader single-handedly decimated the Gold and Red squadron pilots in the trench.

    But I admit that there's not much else to support his claim to star pilot fame in the original movies. The prequels have a little bit more to go on, however. The Boonta Eve Classic (TPM), the Battle of Naboo (TPM), the speeder chase on Coruscant (AotC), and the Battle of Coruscant (RotS) are all good examples of his skills as a pilot.

    But if you're just basing it on the films, I can see Han closing the gap a little more between himself and Vader. But as a fan of The Clone Wars and an avid reader of Star Wars media, it's hard for me to separate what I know about Vader as he has been portrayed across all SW media.

    I must admit, it was hard to not pick myself.

    I went with Han. As stated above me, we've just been given too many examples in film for him to not be #1. The Asteroid Field chase alone secures him that spot in all honesty.

    Force by itself doesn't make one a great pilot, or someone like Han Sono would never be as good as, say, Obi Wan Kenobi. From what I've seen in the movies, tv shows and comics, Poe's piloting feats were the most amazing, with Vader coming second.

    I want to say Han (or believe it's Kylo), but it's hard to miss how overpowered Poe is. :p OK, whatever, I'm still going with Han. I'm sure he would come up with some kind of trick to beat Poe in a race or a (hypothetical!) dogfight. ;)

    I have been following those closely and Vader's fly boy skills in the comics have been nothing short of spectacular.
    Originally had a nice post typed up on my laptop about Anakin landing a chunk of flaming metal.... stopped, went and watched the Kessel Run again and I was like, yeah... its Han.

    when you think of how impressive Han or Poe are as pilots without being able to rely on the Force for an assist, i will pick them any time over Darth Vader.

    as mentioned above, Han is dead (and so is Vader for that matter), so for me, the best living pilot right now is Poe. : D
    Ren Ben might be up there but we haven't seen him do much yet.
