Prequel trilogy Legends (EU) Novels:

    Hi there
    I am a fan that was brought up with the Prequel and Original star wars trilogies but it is well known that the EU is not considered canon however since Disney purchased Lucasfilm they have been strongly avoiding the prequels and there isn't much canon material being made for the prequel era apart from Marvel's Star Wars Kanan.

    So i was thinking, since it is unlikely that Disney/Lucasfilm/Del Rey/Marvel will revisit and retell the stories outside of the Prequels maybe great prelude books to the prequels such as Darth Maul Shadow Hunter, Cloak of Deception and Darth Plagueis and marvel comics such as Darth maul and the old Qui Gon and Obi wan stories should just be made canon so they dont have to revisit that timeframe as much in the future. These stories give a background story to the events that occured in The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones so they should just be canon.

    So should they just be made canon to give the prequels some backstory??

    I reckon it's just a matter of time. The Dark Times are the current focus (and between Episodes 4 and 5), but we are getting Dark Disciple soon and (as you said) we have Kanan on the go. I think they've been avoided to an extent because the Dark Times were somewhat uncovered in Legends and this is their chance now, but also because the Clone Wars era holds little relevance to TFA. In the current novels and such we're seeing the development of the empire and life under imperial rule, whilst I think the ST will see a similar status, but rather in a declining empire opposed to ascending.

    I do wish we could see some early Kenobi/Jinn stuff or even Anakin being trained in a few upcoming novels, but it'll be a little while first whilst they establish the canon in the lead up to TFA.
