Tycho is still canon? When was he recanonized; I haven't kept up with the new EU material.

I'd love to see shadows as a 2 hour direct to netflix movie. I agree that it fits great between episodes 5 and 6. It did seem oddly sexual for star wars. Xixors phermones might not fit into the direction, but I'm ok if they cut that.

I hated the flying lightsabers. Not per se, but since they were never used that way before, and hopefully won't be used that way again, it seemed even weirder.

I'm no familiar with "moving target" can you tell me the contradiction?

 

That's true but we have to see how many elements are now considered canon as many aspects from Shadows of the Empire have already been used. Though we have not seen Prince Xizor, Black Sun and it's Faleen Vigos were made canon as was the Outrider when Lucas put it in ANH.

 

As far as I know, he never stopped being canon. He actually appears onscreen in RotJ. He is flying the A-Wing that follows Lando and Wedge into the Death Star II, and then is the one who splits off from them and leads a few of the TIE fighters back to the surface. I believe his only line something like "Copy Gold Leader."

 

The thing that gets me is it's completely Canon.

 

At least on the part of what Leia was doing between TESB and ROTJ.

In Shadows of the Empire, Leia was supposed to be part of this rescue mission with Luke, Lando and Dash Rendar. In Moving Target, after seeing people getting hurt while protecting her and learning about the existence of the second Death Star, Leia comes up with the plan to draw the Imperial forces to the other side of the galaxy so that the Rebellion can gather its forces in secret. She poses as a recruiter for the Rebellion. The problem is that her and her chosen group aren't the only one in danger: the people they come in contact with, people who help them, people who answer their (false) call all are. Leia struggles with all of this, but still makes hard decisions.

I reckon some of the aspects of Shadows of the Empire could be canonised except the parts where Leia is involved, since from the end of Moving Target everything seems to indicate Lando is already in Jabba's palace, and Leia has already the plan to go and play the bounty hunter with the help of Luke. (And especially the Prince Xizor pheromone thing - ew). Maybe they can explore further what Luke is doing in between, and the path of Lando to infiltrate Jabba's palace.

Interesting. I didn't read that, so thanks for the summary.

I'm with @alex that SOTE would make a great 2-hour animated film. They could rework the material to fit the new canon and otherwise stay as close as they can to what else was in SOTE already (except maybe those silly pheromones, and Xizor himself who I was never a fan of).

Seeing Wedge and Thrawn, I'm really hoping Rebels continues for a while, there are so many ways we can go to follow those original Rebels characters as they weave in and out of the OT tapestry.

They should really introduce him though...also he wouldn't exactly be"young" because of how close it is to ANH..

Or he is Leia's half-sister and Bail's real son so he's royalty that was fed and since Leia has already been in Rebels then he will be too before the show ends .

 

Well whatever they fed him, he's grown fast.

I just saw this article. Pretty interesting that it kind of hints at some of the characters not really having a clear ending in the show. Maybe we will see some of them pop up in something else. Filoni specifically mentions they had to come up with something for why Ezra is no where to be found in the OT. It will be cool to find that out eventually.

Like I said before, I wont have a sour taste in my mouth if Kanan and Ahsoka die and Ezra turns and then goes MIA. There just cant be 3 jedi characters running around during the OT while things are said to be so bleak and the Skywalker kids are the only hope etc. I really hope they don't mishandle any of it and make the OT look cheap or something.

One guess regarding some 'Rebels' characters possibly having unclear "endings"--

A blatant "Deus Ex Machina" seed has been planted (on season 2's 12th episode) —as a potentially long term escape/hideout for any or all members of the ghost crew.

Actually, I suppose as the storyline presently stands, "Lira San" is an ideal option for potentially ANY character the writers may want to "tuck away for later appearances".
