Vader may have brought balance, but that doesn't happen without Luke. Luke is central to the story. If you want to destroy the sith you need Luke, Luke is the only one who can get to Vader to get him to change and complete his mission.

If I had to guess, Maul goes after Obi Wan, who Kanan doesn't know is alive.
Kanan and Ezra go after Maul in fear that Maul will get too close to Luke.

I agree about Maul going after Kenobi but why would Ezra and Kanan be in fear of him getting close to Luke?

I guess Maul will find Kenobi but Luke won't appear at this point yet. When we met him in ANH he seemed ignorant about what Kenobi was telling him about his father, The Clone Wars and Vader.

I have to watch the episode again because I thought Ezra said "twin suns".

Please bring a glass of the finest Alderaanian wine to this one.

The end of the episode and what Ezra said did not make me think they knew about Luke. Ezra mentioned he saw places, planets... Maybe he had glimpses of Tatooine, Yavin, Vrogas Vas, Hoth, Bespin, etc but not specific people.

    I agree.
Maul knows where Kenobi is and doesn't know about Luke and all Ezra knows is twin suns (planets/places) and no idea where Maul has gone.

It would be based on Ezra's vision. If Ezra asked how do we destroy the sith. Then the answer would almost have to have shown him Luke. As strange as that sounds, it would have to. yes Vader destroyed the emperor, but only after watching him almost kill his son. To ignore Luke's part in the fall of the Empire is being dishonest.

I caught a few plot holes but loved the episode in general. The main one being when they magnetized the ceiling which was a trick used in clone wars it should have pin maul flat to the ceiling as his whole lower body is metal and it should have affected his lightsaber and every bodies weapons. For that matter Sabine should have been on the ceiling with her armor. Other than that it was great.

Plus we have a legends book storyline possibly being inserted into rebels. I the legends book the last of the Jedi desperate mission Obi wan leaves tatooine to help a former jedi apprentice. They may be reworking that story to fit rebels.

absolutely loved this episode. 8/10 seems appropriate i think.

Ezra's path is becoming clearer. whilst it was a touching moment with Kanan in the cave.. it further highlighted the emotion felt by Ezra.
He was getting angry very easily and is being constantly reigned in by Kanan. he was super quick to do the holocron merge with Maul as well... close to the edge of no return is how i would describe him currently.

loved Maul calling Ezra his 'apprentice'.. love it!

not sure how i feel about the Maul/Kenobi thing here. do we really think that Maul will confront ol Ben in Rebels? what's the current timeline here? we must be close to the events of ANH?

I don't deny what Maul and Ezra saw.. but do we really think that everyone on rebels will be running around on tatooine just before ANH?

Sorry i'm late to this review, fantastic episode with Ezra/Kanan & the Bendu test, I enjoyed the fact Maul got the head start on them two with the capture of the ghost crew but you knew they would soon strike back, Maul/Ezra crystal merging scene was awesome, I thought was going to be left to the later episodes still it's out there now, I hope it was Kenobi that Maul saw, if it is him he is coming for him for sure.

Ezra is 16/17 I guess. So it would be around 2 years before ANH.

What if Kenobi's powers were in some way diminished by ANH due to a potential confrontation with Maul? If Obi-Wan gets rid of Maul for good this time, it would be poetic justice: he finished what he started, back in the day in Naboo.

And tying this with what happens in Rogue One, then it would make sense that Bail sends his daughter with the mission of reaching for Master Kenobi in Tatooine: ("and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed.") If Bail gets word that the old Jedi master got rid of Maul, he might be willing to join the fight again.

And it makes more sense now that Artoo in some way seemed to know the exact whereabouts of Kenobi in Tatooine.

They might be. Or they might send the non-FS part of the crew to Tatooine.

I bet the armor is plastoid. Most metals aren't magnetic either although most fiction seems to treat magnetism as "metal actuator". Science and star wars don't mix. I think of it a space fantasy. It is about space wizards after all ;).

I think it will be the finale or the penultimate episode as an aside. I bet it will be just maul going to confront Ben with none of the other rebels in the episode.

It's Mandalorian armor. Vader deflected two blaster bolts into her helmet and chest and she survived. It's metal.

You are correct but they still do not know where Luke is, Maul knows where Kenobi is. But in the case of this from what we have seen Maul doesn't know about Luke.

Are we 100% certain Maul's talking about Obi-Wan. Can't it be someone else and we're being deliberately misled by the 2 suns reference?

Mmmm could be. But so far we do know all the history behind for these two. Quick recap:

    - Kenobi cut Maul in two, being the first Jedi to kill a Sith in like a thousand of years.

    darth-mauls-death-o.gif

    - Maul kills Duchess Satine with the Darksaber.

    duchess satine death.jpg

Aside of it, from the current canon material, who else could it be? Maul knows Count Dooku and General Grievous are dead, and already knows beforehand Sidious and Vader are alive so... who else could it be?

I can't recall for sure but I don't think that Maul knows that Anakin is Vader.

It could be that he goes looking for Anakin and instead ends up dead at Vader's hands. I am leaning toward the Obi Wan interpretation as well, but from a certain point of view...

Maybe. Not quite sold on that one since they do not have a shared history as Maul-Kenobi but... as Supreme Leader Snoke said: "We shall see."
