I'm glad you cleared that up for me, I think you're right. When I watched it I thought that maybe he saw his brother was still alive but I knew that didn't make sense. It's got to be Obi.

Just saw this. Did anyone notice that when Ezra and Maul are uniting the holoceons the background music is Kylo Ren's theme from TFA???

I was just now able to watch the most recent episode. I have previously stated that if Obi shows in S3 of Rebels it will be the rare big moment of the season. It might happen sooner? I need to go to the Degobah System and learn the ways of... who knows, because omg omg omg he's coming back! Twin Suns is iconic in SW, and we know where Old Ben is. There is an excitment I have not felt in a long time, a long time.

I'd be really surprised if Maul doesn't encounter Kenobi. It strongly hints to that.. plus I don't see who else Maul could be referring to.

Like a lot of others on here - this episode was EPIC. Rebels has gone from good to awesome quickly. Really impressed with this episode.

That would tell us a lot about any plans for a Obi-wan movie. i think they would save a final battle for a movie

My first thought was Maul's brother may be alive. Yeah, doesn't make much sense, but then again ,Maul being alive doesn't make much sense either. Though, with Maul's Sithy ways of thinking, it does make much more sense for it to be Kenobi.

Also, Tom Baker (my fav Doctor Who, btw) does the best job voicing Bendu. He really is perfect for the role.

I also laughed out loud when Kanan told Ezra their plan was "to play it by ear". Not sure if that makes me a bad person.

That's an absolute possibility. My only concern from seeing this Rebels episode and the Obi-Wan hints is that a lot of canon material (Rebel's and the 'Star Wars' Comics) is using and/or hinting at Obi-Wan either directly or indirectly in context. This leaves me to wonder if there's even enough material left for an Obi-Wan Film...

For example; it would be crazy to have Obi-Wan film that had a Maul vs. Kenobi battle in it as most people who'd see the film would never have seen The Clone Wars or Rebels. Normal film-goers would think:

Casual Film Goer (Majority): "ummmmm.... wasn't this guy killed in that film in 1999?"

Star Wars Fan (Minority): "well ummm... yes he was but it turned out that he survived. You should watch the Clone Wars and Rebel's TV Shows.. that way you'll be up to date!"

Naaaaaaah. I don't see it happening unfortunately.

I was just reading some comments on the following post from eleven-thirtyeight:

    http://eleven-thirtyeight.com/2016/10/rebels-revisited-my-name-is-maul/

What if Maul goes looking for Kenobi, but then realizes the potential of a Force-Sensitive young farm boy around and wants to make him his apprentice? Maybe at this point he's done with Ezra - since Ezra and Kanan seemed to get to an understanding when looking for the Sith holocron. I know it's a little bit optimistic, but even Luke would not have to be aware of the danger he is in being detected by Maul but fortunately Obi-Wan saves the day.

Darth Maul is looking for Hope, I'm hoping for THIS:

But then, I'd be geeked with just about anything happening between those two.

Yeah, sometimes the most obvious answer is the correct one. Let's assume he's looking for Ben. The question would be why. Again, most obvious would be it is to make him suffer. Unless... he wants Ben to join him against the Sith. Ben, of course would limit his actions to whatever is best to protect Luke.

Also, I agree that a movie about Maul vs. Ben could be confusing for regular movie goers who are not into animated series or comics. So, if there is an Obi-Wan movie, I'm guessing it won't have Maul in it. They could come up with many kinds of plots for a nice, reflective film starring Obi-Wan, without resorting to known enemies.

And in combination with the teachings of the Bendu the whole balance discussion has opened to a wide range of possible concepts of balance. At the moment I get the impression that Vader has pressed the Reset button and the whole extreme light Jedi teachings and extreme dark Sith stuff shifts a little more to the middle. Vader represented both extremes by switching from one to another and back again. Kylo is torn apart because he senses a pull to the light and desires the ultimate dark power control at the same time. With that in mind it will be very interresting what Ezra and Rey could or will become :)

Really, really enjoyed this episode! I was a little underwhelmed with the first episode (likely due to previews giving too much away), so I was happy for this one!

I concur with most of what has been said, and there are great comments in this thread already.

I love how Maul refers to "our" apprentice.

I'm sure that Maul is talking about Obi Wan in the end of the episode. They referenced so many things from the last Maul storyline in TCW, it only makes sense to follow along with that same logic of Maul getting revenge on Obi Wan. His hate for Obi Wan was what kept him alive in the first place.

A showdown with Maul and Obi Wan, if handled well, could be fantastic...or it could be a cliche cameo. I don't see them showing it as a sidebar scene, since that feels more like a TCW way of storytelling - SWR only shows scenes relevant to the overall plot, not a complete side plot that has nothing to do with the main characters. Somehow, they will need to tie in one or more of the main characters in order to show it to us. It's a fine line - and I hope they do it well, because it could be every bit as good as the Ahsoka/Vader showdown from last season. It would be awesome to see an old, but very capable Obi Wan take on Maul using what he has learned from his Tatooine training - similar to how the Vader of Rebels finally showed us the power of Vader in his prime.

If they ARE going to play that out, it will be in Rebels, not a separate movie - it would be too much of a cliffhanger for Rebels fans, since it would be multiple years between the setup this season and payoff in a movie, and more likely that setting it up now and paying it off later would either be redundant or diminish the stories of each to break it into two mediums. Maul is only "still alive" in these (secondary) TV series storylines. One thing I love about Star Wars is that it works on both the first tier "movie fan only" level as well as the deeper tv-expanded level, and somewhat at the third tier book/other level. However, you almost never see a main plot point move "up" a tier. And Maul being alive would be a very big plot point!

Did he just cut Maul in half all over again?

I can hear the dialogue now.

Maul: "Why does this keep happening to me??"

The fan-nerd-geek in me would love to see Maul vs Obi-Wan one last time! But I fear that if the Rebel crew head there as well, and all of these force users are convened on Tattooine, surely, surely the big bad guys would sense their overall presence and head straight there? Therefore finding Kenobi still alive and well, and young Luke as well probably?

It could cause potential problems, but I'd have faith in the story team and Filoni if they went for that.

I'm just too impatient to find out! :D (obi-wan 4)(vicious)
