"Terrible" is your opinion, which you are entitled to have and express. Just as RLM has, though "different" to yours.

    Thanks for the permission.

    I'd also point out that:
are also just a subjective ways of referring to "decency".

Anyway, thanks for sharing this video, but I honestly have such a hard time taking them seriously.

    Consider the following:

-They're likely most famous for their prequel reviews (wow real bold stance making fun of the prequels back in 2012...)

    - They've formed a persona around this cynicism, adapting it to the new movies as well

    - They've completely ignored any significant criticism of the OT

I mean, come on. They're playing to their base. They're not serious reviewers.

I guess if this kind of cynical behavior is what passes for entertainment, have at it.

They have NEVER been serious reviewers!
    They know it!
    I know it!
Their other fans already know it!

Obviously, you don't! You don't "get" them!

They are honest down-to-earth guys, they're film nuts and smalltime film makers. They are the antithesis to the stereotypical review shills like AngryJoe or Collider, who get paid by big media corporations to give "good" (dishonest) reviews in turn for big payouts and other benefits. RLM deliberately mock these types of biased reviewers with a satirical parody series called "The Nerd Crew".

I admire RLM's honesty, wit, banter, cynicism, pessimism and their rejection of political correctness. Their content is almost old-school "British" humour in style. But not quite. They don't swear or drink enough....

Batman v. Superman was badly written by a bad writer. Also, my 6 year old paints, but he's no Matisse. He's not a professional artist, so I don't discourage or insult him. On the other hand, if he were a fully-grown professional artist, I would expect him to anticipate and withstand criticism. When you hold yourself out as an expert at something and charge a lot of money for doing it (and when you accept praise, awards, etc. for doing it well), it's only reasonable to get some flack when you do it poorly. Here, the criticism of Abrams is that he does not put enough effort into thinking about whether a given scene or event contributes to the whole. It's not like these guys are going out of their way to be insulting. They have a criticism of a very wealthy and successful man. They seem thoughtful about it. I don't see why they should feel ashamed.

Is it just me, or has nerd rage come so full-circle that now the nerds are the ones saying "That's so stupid and unrealistic" and the normals are the ones going "WHOA that's so cool!"

Okay. Pointing at Hollywood and Hollywood politics (whatever that is) as your specific reason for disliking the ST needs to end. Everyone is well aware that political discussion isn't allowed here and while this is merely scratching the surface, it's still a can of worms -- and one that doesn't need to be re-posted in every other thread.

As for the rest of this thread, everyone please clean it up. Stick to the topic of the "prediction video" or this thread will be (at least) temporarily locked.
    Thank you.

    Sorry, but no.

British humour at its best is incredibly political. I would refer you to Steward Lee, Lee Mack or even Ricky Gervais. None of these British comedians would ever ever dare make an irreverent or offensive joke that is not inherently funny, because if they can’t justify a joke, they will not make it. The point in their comedy is being funny, never insulting, or lazy about getting laughs.

These RLM guys are not at that level. I have seen some of their other videos and they aren’t this bad. They are not bad film critics, know what they like and are pretty good at articulating their problems with certain movies or elements in certain movies. They are funny sporadically, but do not have enough comic talent to make edgy jokes without coming across as obnoxious. Perhaps this is the reason why so many people don’t engage with the comedy in their videos. If you’re going to deal with tabu subjects and be unPC you have to have a very good reason for it... If your comedy is brilliant, you will be forgiven. The end.

I don't think RLM is for everyone but I honestly don't know what their 'base' of viewers are. Someone like Geeks and Gamers is specific in that you know they will bash Disney with every video, and the people that follow are looking for the red meat. RLM are very different than most YouTubers as they are sort of mocking geek culture, and they do it in a very un-PC way. Some videos hit it out of the park and are very funny and others are not as good, but that's natural for anything.

In saying that, I don't discount their opinions as they usually give honest opinions about the movies. They are more cynical towards the franchise, but in some ways they are right. They take the stance that SW should have ended in 1983, and part of me agrees with them. I like a lot of stuff post 1983 and dislike a lot of stuff too. But there is something to say that every Movie Franchise/TV show in our society doesn't know when to call it quits. In some ways, you could make an argument that The Original SW would be more revered today if there were no sequels as the 1977 movie stood alone. The whole context of the movie has been lost over the past 40 years, and it would be viewed much more like The Wizard of Oz, then Part 4 of the Saga where Obiwan is a big frickin liar.

As I started this thread, I'd kindly request you all only comment on the content of the RLM video posted at the top of page 1, which is why I posted it.

I didnt start this thread as an RLM criticism thread. That is OFF TOPIC.

    Thanks.

Unfortunately you can't separate the content from the channel. Could IX be a time travel story? Maybe, probably not, I don't know. Does the mere suggestion mean we should groan and roll our eyes like the guys in this video? No. I'm sick of this "fan" culture founded on dismissal and cynicism.

I can separe those who built the Colosseum from the “shows” it used to host.
So, if you don’t have any opinion on that specific theory I can only say that’s fine.
Personally, however, I am bored (I won’t say sick) of fan culture as a whole.
Including the need of commenting whoever dares to make a criticism, or even share a theory, not the criticism or the theory itself.
We ALL should try to do the latter, always.
To your credit, I’ll also admit that this comment of mine doesn’t help to break the wheel either, so please take it as a reminder. I’ll do it for myself.

That said, I must admit there are some interesting takes in that theory.
In the sense that - regardless if one likes the scenario or not - they may be right.
However I don’t think they are... but...

As some of you know, I always felt that TFA holds the potential (some details) to prepare a TT twist.
I believe - in short - that JJ left this door wide open (among the others).

The question, if we entertain the idea of a TT twist, is what kind of TT twist it may be.

I feel - and I can be wrong - that if they’re taking this path, they will avoid any retcon in any case, knowing/fearing the backlash.
    That’s why I don’t buy RML’s theory.

However the 2 things can be reconciled: aTT “twist” in fact doesn’t have to be a machine/device that changes what’s said and done from 1 to 8. It may be a plot device (a reveal most likely followed by something else) that puts things in the right order so that they may go as they are - or more interesting ”were”- supposed to be.

Or maybe, the events from 1 to 8 are not what they should have been, but just because the past cannot be changed, in the current time line - that was severely effected by [insert plot device] - something still has to be done or still has to happen.

In both cases, the twist/reveal won’t change anything we’ve seen in the PT, the OT or the ST.

Like I said, it’s not that I am sure it will be done and more importantly I have my own bias.
I fear TT as a retcon. Therefore probably mine is only an hope.

What's interesting about theories (even reading spoilers) is how it looks on paper and how it looks when it is executed. For example, the Anakin ROTS turn scene works great in the novel, and not too good on screen. I remember reading a spoiler about Luke being in TFA for 30 seconds at the end of the movie by himself on a mountain and I was furious (Even Mark Hamill thought the fans would think it was dumb). Then I saw the scene executed on screen (with the John Williams score), and I loved it. If you told me in 1977 that Han would come in to save the day with Luke on the trench run in ANH, I would have said it was a typical clichéd movie ending. Then you see it on screen, and it works perfectly. So I really never discount any theory/spoiler as stupid because it may look bad on paper and may look like something else on screen. Or it just maybe as bad as it looked on paper.

Mike from the video make excellent observations about clues in the trailer.

The Millennium Falcon is seen with a circular dish once again. (it was the rectangular one in TFA and TLJ)

Rey has an intact blue lightsabre again. (it was destroyed in TLJ) Rey is also wearing her Jakku clothing from TFA again.

The Emperor's laughing may not be specifically in that crashed Death Star scene or even in the present time. It may be back in the past. Trailers and teasers, especially Star Wars don't always put things in the logical or correct order, they are deceptions.

So time travel is inevitable in IX/TROS.

I agree. I would personally have no problem with TT if it was done in a way that suited SW, and I'm not talking about the WBW (I never watched Rebels). If JJ dressed TT as a force possibility, as a super weapon or an underworld sanctuary I would accept it... It will all depend on how it would serve the story and the characters.

And the blue lightsaber is not intact. In the trailer you can see that its handle has a bandaid in the middle... JJ could be messing with us, but if the timeline was pre-throne room, why the bandaid? Also Rey is not wearing her mushroom colour Jakku garb... her suit is lighter and more fitting, and she has a hood... I would rather believe this is a dream sequence of some sort if not real.

It's possible, of course, but it just seems like there are more logical (and simpler) explanations for each of these things:

    - A radar dish can easily be replaced, no time travel required. Maybe the rectangular one gets damaged at the start of the film, or maybe when Lando gets the ship back, he decides to try to restore it to how it looked when he owned it.

-A lightsaber can be repaired. Again, no time travel required.

-Rey is back on a desert planet and maybe figured her old desert attire is appropriate for that? I tend to wear the same jacket every winter, despite not owning a time machine.

Again, I'm not ruling our time travel, but those examples aren't enough to convince me that it's happening.

They’re opinions in the video is obviously just their attempt at humour, which is why people watch them. Good entertainment, but ludicrous theory, although JJ did say f**kit, and he does come up with some pretty cuckoo ideas, so you never know.

I get nervous with any rumor I read (lol), that is why I always don't jump the gun. Right now I am very nervous about Palpatine returning, I would be nervous about time travel, and nervous on how they handle Kylo Ren (redemption, dies, lives, etc). Again, the proof is in the pudding so I will be in freak-out mode for another 5 months! lol

As "neutral" Austrian for a whole lifetime I also have troubles with this kind of so called objectivism. In my opinion there is no such thing. I will never comvince my partner of the - in my opinion - huge qualities of an epic space fairy-tale like SW that lasts for decades now. She simply doesn't like Science fiction and especially SW. Not here taste. Point (I will never except that. Never ever :) ).

Topic: Always easy to be funny by punching others creations. Easier than creating something unique and special for your own. Besides some (quite) funny thoughts this guy's are not really my taste.
