Really you think Han's death is only significant if Rey is his daughter wow you really seamed to misread that scene then that scene is all about Han & Ben Rey is a bystander of course she is shocked & enraged about what she witnessed & sure it could have added to it if they had revealed Rey Solo at the end with Leia but they didn't.
So now Rey is going to have now reason to even contemplate showing any compassion for him which is not a good mental state to be in when you want to become a Jedi. Instead she is going to find out some rather uncomfortable truths about Han, Leia, Luke & Ben & then on her own with out any family obligations find out that she still can find some compassion for him.

Only trough Rey the sister and Han's daughter will Kylo be redeemed.

She, would never love Kylo after seeeing this, except if she is the sister, and its suddenly 1000 times more important.

Rey sough Han's death , in this moment she actually knew she lost father she never had. It is the defining moment .

Why would she care about a dude who didn't find a second to tell her the truth and was Ok to let her go back to Jakku ?

    I wouldn't if I was Rey.

Neither of them are going to redeem Kylo Ren.

He's going to do it all by himself. OR Leia is going to be the one to instigate it.

Like i said, and I'll say it again, LEIA ORGANA, PRINCESS OF ALDERAAN, GENERAL OF THE RESISTANCE, MOTHER OF BEN SOLO WILL BRING HER SONG BACK TO THE LIGHT AND MAKE HIM SEE THE ERROR OF HIS WAYS.

She's the only one who can.

    Not his future wife.

    Not his father.

    Not his uncle.

His mother. The woman who will fight for him until her dying breath leaves her and even after.

No, his redemption started by killing Han. He will be haunted by it and this will eventually bring him back. Yes, Rey (the girl he has compassion for) will help, maybe even the force ghost of Anakin will help too.

It makes no difference to her if he is her biological father or not. Rey already saw Han has her father figure. Next she will see Luke as her father figure. That's the point of the ST, becoming family.

Leia being the catalyst for Kylo's redemption would be a great way to send her off.

On topic: I don't believe that Rey is a Solo, I believe that she is a Skywalker for many reasons that have been hashed out many times...

Off topic again: ...Therefore I also do not believe that a romance for her and Kylo is in the pipes. IF Rey has a romance at all, I believe it will be with Finn.

She can be Luke's daughter I do not have major issue with that. It would be just "correct" from the point of SW legacy.

But as many times repeated the stakes between Rey and Kylo are much greater if Han was father of them both.

I think it would be the only way, to be quite honest.

Otherwise, this saga will end as a tragedy, regardless of how Episode 9 goes.

That is subjective. Why do the stakes between Rey and Kylo need to be greater than they already are? I'm not here to tell anyone that they are wrong, because I don't have a problem with folks having a different theory than I do, but these raised stakes between Rey and Kylo are manufactured from a desire for Rey to be a Solo. There is nothing concrete to base that on. We could toss in many hypotheticals to keep raising the stakes between the two if that was our goal.

Love that saved Vader was not any kind of love, but love for his son Luke, of course trough his eternal love for Padme, which redeemed him ultimately at the end.
Still mechanism of redemption has gone trough family.

Crush type of love can not save Ben, like a Sith can not have lovers or a girlfriends?. It can only make film childish if make ad-hoc, as it would be made ad-hoc since there is no time.

There is simply no time to develop epic love between the two...

In your theory, Han isn't her father, he's her genitor.

A father is the one who teach you how to be an adult not a dude who wants to throw you in an escape pod.

Leia's father is Bail Organa. Leia's genitor is Anakin Skywalker.

Only two full movies ... and maybe more.

    Kylo Ren isn't ... a sith.

There's so much wrong with this, I don't know where to start.

Firstly, Padme wasn't Vader's "family" the way you describe it. She's his wife. What he has for her is romantic love. So that first point is moot.

Secondly, even if they do have a romance, it'll be written to be epic and poetic. This is not the real world where love takes time to grow. Leia and Han fell in love in like a month max. It's a Space Opera, not a Space Rom-Com. They'll be going for the dramatic "soulmates" and not the cutesy "crushes".

But that's only if they do go with a romance in this trilogy, which they might not.

    Girlfriends?

There are no girlfriends in space. Only twoo wuvs.

    Thank you.

Just being nit-picky since that is what we Star Wars fans excel at...

Han and Leia were immediately attracted to each other. Their "love" brewed for about 3 years before they finally professed that love for each other.

Again, you're thinking logically, love isn't logical. It knows no bounds and can be interpreted in literally billions of different ways, similar to the Force.

Even if we looked at it logically, you could argue the seeds have already been planted. Much better than they were with Anakin and Padme in Episode 1... who are married by the end of Episode 2.

Not to mention, this kind of ties into my point above, it's already being largely predicted by a lot of people, and believe me, that matters. Rey and Kylo already have an established relationship, based off that relationship, many have predicted a romance for the two. The Reylo crowd is large and loud for a reason, it wouldn't be nearly as big without the events in TFA that set up whatever relationship they have. There's no... I don't know Hux and Rey group that's "shipping" them because there's nothing pre-established to base anything off of. With such a large group of people predicting/expecting it, and a majority of fans in general knowing there's at least a strong possibility, it doesn't have to be as much of a slow burn as you think it does.

IF that's the route they even decided to go in...

Kylo Ren is angry at his parents and at Ben and at the past. He kills off the Jedi apprentices and kills off Lor San Tekka that were also anchors to his past.

    1) 'Death' of sister (REY) - (Potential twist line - HAN SOLO: "We both had to deal with it in our own way.") (KYLO REN: "And Han Solo. You feel like he's the father you never had. He would've disappointed you.")
    2) 'Death' of Ben - KYLO REN: "Your son is gone. He was weak and foolish, like his father. So I destroyed him."
    3) Death of Han - SNOKE: "Even you, master of the Knights of Ren, have never faced such a test."
    4) Death of Leia - SNOKE: "It is time to complete his training."

"Let the past die. Kill it...if you have to. It's the only way to become what you were meant to be."

So the presumed death of his sister would be what set Ben gradually down a dark path while guided by Snoke to channel his hate and rage into destroying the rest of Ben's ties to the past. It comes full circle by the reappearance of the catalyst (Rey).

"In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past."

    Oh right!

Well, I'm sure we'll have some time jumps in this trilogy as well, so who knows. :p

Can you imagine if they didn't?

This whole war would be over in a matter of weeks after Rey joins the Resistance. Now THAT would make her a Mary Sue.
    --- Double Post Merged, Nov 7, 2017, Original Post Date: Nov 7, 2017 ---
Funny how Ren never mentions it. It would certainly help his case when he begged her to let him teach her the ways of the force. And before you tell me that he doesn't recognise her, he does.

    a) He's been in her head and he sees where she's from and what she's gone through
    b) He literally says - "It's you" before they engage in the duel.

His sister would have died almost 12 years before he fell to the darkside. Han and Leia were still together after that.

Something happened a few years before the start of TFA. It was either Kylo finding out about his heritage or something else. Definitely not his sister's death

I think the whole parentage is the misdirect. I think they're leading us to ask the wrong questions. It's not who Rey is that's going to drive this story but why Rey was put away on Jakku and why Ben Solo finally succumbed to the darkside after not giving into it for 25 odd years (Snoke has been in head or wtv since before he was born).

The age-old mysteries are not going to be something as expected as who Rey's dad is. It's going to be tied into the Force mythos and have something to do with the balance between the Light and the Dark.

The shocking revelations of the past won't exactly be shocking is Rey is revealed to be descended from the only Force user left in the Galaxy.
It won't be unexpected if she's descended from the man she spends a whole movie with, who she sees as a "father figure" already.

What's unexpected is that it doesn't matter at all. And before the audience gets a chance to be disappointed, they'll drop the real answer on our heads like a thermonuclear weapon. I don't know what it is precisely but I can guess that it'll be answers to the questions I discussed above - why Rey came to be on Jakku and why Ben finally joined Snoke.

There has to be something greater than just shared blood that ties these "disparate pieces" together

And remember, Ren and Rey have seen each other in dreams before. They know of each other even if they have never really heard of the other.

    Screen Shot 2017-11-08 at 12.05.47 AM.png

    There's your mystery.

HOW do they know each other?

WHY does it matter that they know each other?

What are the effects of such a connection?

The answer lies with the Force. Not with one man or woman. Something much bigger ties them together

It somehow weird that Kylo Ren was able to see the island in Rey's dreams, how lonely she was and didn't find a clue about them to be brothers and sisters.

A supposed twist line that 90% of the audience didn't notice or remember isn't supposed to fill all the plot holes this theory is raising.
