Hopefully it's all a misdirect. I'm sure RJ said he was very specific about what can and can't be released, and when such things can be released.

Maybe he's heartbroken as she's his sister.

But now that sounds really f'd up.

OR.... maybe she turns him down at first, and then later he says I love you and she says I KNOW and laughs!

 

Does that mean we can almost (finally) debunk this theory?

The thing is: when Oscar said that the movie was not released, so there was no FinnPoe "ship" by fans, and ReyFinn is not very subtle in the movie (and it's confirmed by Boyega there's no romance between Rey and Finn), so Oscar is talking about something else when he's talking about "a subtle romance, you have to watch the movie a few times to see the little hints"...

 

The Leia bio book was released 5 months after Bloodline and the events of Bloodline are accounted for within it.

 

The real world release is irrelevant. It's in-universe that matters. And if Leia's private life was well know in-universe then the whole "Vader is her father" thing wouldn't have worked as well.The Leia-bio thing, put simply, had to tie in with what happened in Bloodline.

 

I was wondering the other day if this thread will reach 150 pages before the film, at this rate it will pass easily. Any takers??

Kylo Ren has been heartbroken by many different relationships: with his father, with his mother, with his uncle, with the next generation of Jedi that he "killed," with the fishy eyed toilet monster, with General Hux (due to his unwillingness to share his strawberry ice cream), with Millicent (who has been using Kylo's resting place for his mask as her personal litter box), with the apparently-now-missing "Knights of Ren" that he "mastered" (translation: killed)... the list goes on and on. Kylo Ren says it himself, he is being torn apart.

If it wasn't for his mother's own loss and heartbreak throughout the saga, I would say the list above makes Kylo Ren the most heartbroken character in Star Wars (only because I wasn't convinced by either Anakin or Padme and their actors' wooden performances...)

Never mind that I have yet to even mention the poor abandoned scavenger on Jakku. Kylo Ren could be heartbroken by any number of failed relationships other than an unrequited love for Rey... Boy-girl relationships, whether incestuous or not, do not have a monopoly on heartbreak.

Hate to break it to everyone... but Disney trolled all the Reylo enthusiasts with the cut of the last trailer, and they have been trolled by an emoji. Hysterical.

Disney already has its terribly dated Stockholm Syndrome film... it is not happening again. Especially in the current climate of male/female relationships and the pervasive abuses by the masculine across multiple industries and cultures... To romanticize Rey and Kylo Ren in Star Wars would be an absolute abomination...

But then again, as I look at the current American political landscape and truly oddball normalization of the extreme and offensive, who knows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

whether the "Reylo" crowd is being trolled or not specifically, it's hard to deny that Ren Ben's persona over the last two years has taken an interesting turn in the marketing. whether that's preparing us for a redemption or a love story or both, it's hard to argue that Ren will ever be the villain everyone expected before TFA.

while i understand the challenges a romance would entail (and still believe strongly that the best we can hope for between these two is a Force-bonded open-ended friendship), i also hedge a bit just because we've been repeatedly told this is a fairy tale and though fairy tales aren't terribly popular with certain agenda-driven crowds, Star Wars has always clung to a higher ideal (not a "modern one", but a higher one). so while it's doubtful in this climate that Rey would enter into a liaison with even a redeemed Ben Solo, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

and to get back to the subject of the thread ~ i think the intensification of the debate around this possibility might be an indication that, if nothing else, the likelihood of Rey being related to the Skywalkers seems to be diminishing? not because emojis have hearts in their eyes, but because narratively a family reveal seems rather melodramatic at this point. and didn't we already get that in TFA?

 

I certainly aim to please when it comes to helping to propagate certain monikers... "Fishy Eyed Toilet Monster" is perfectly acceptable to me, "Reylo" is not.
