Watched the clips on YouTube. I think Ren is lying. Might change my mind after I see the whole film. But based on what happens between Luke and Ren, a big theme in this movie is you can't bury the past (i.e., "See you around, kid"). So that's another reason to doubt Ren. Since a lot of people in the 80s thought Vader was lying to Luke, this would be a great twist. Plus. no one will expect it in IX, based on the reactions I've seen. And then there's the interview from April where Rian Johnson said the question of Rey's parents would only be "addressed," not answered, in this movie.
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 14, 2017, Original Post Date: Dec 14, 2017 ---
Plus, there's the fact that Ren firmly believed Rey would turn to the Dark Side if she knew the truth about her parents. But that obviously didn't happen, which again suggests he's wrong/lying.

I think Rey could certainly turn to the Dark Side in IX, though, if she finds out Leia and Han were her parents whom she never got to know and then they died. That's much more traumatic and Dark Side inducing than learning they were just a couple of drunks. Lame.

Plus there's the fact that what Ren says contradicts The Force Awakens novelization and film in terms of the Force Back.

And it seems Rey doesn't want to answer Ren's question, because she suspects the real truth.
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 14, 2017 ---
Also, Ren's line ironically echoes Leia's about her and Luke being brother and sister ("somehow...I've always known"). And Ren and Rey's connection in this movie is just Luke calling to Leia on Cloud City taken up many notches.

    Lock it up.

It's fine if she's nobody, but it shouldn't have been presented as a mystery and hinted that she's from something more significant in TFA. And considering who her parents were sparked a thousand theories, that's definitely the impression that was given. As I said before, the issue could have been resolved in a line or two of dialogue easily. Unkar Plutt seems like the type of a-hole who would rub in the fact that Rey's parents were losers who didn't want her. It's easy to see why people are disappointed with how it turned out.

TFA said enough. Whomever you're waiting for they're nerver coming back
She cries, because she knows that's the truth.
Whatever we may think of TFA, that movie follows that story arc.
She accepts her parents are gone, and embraces a new belonging. Her future.

If there's nothing more to be descovered, in 8,
you only have to add 2 more words in the first 5 minutes and move on from that.
    But not.
You make that (= nothing) the focus of her entire story arc.

I like the concept of anyone from anywhere, regardless of their background, can be a hero. That's been a recurring theme in Star Wars. The issue for me is, and will continue to be, is that Rey is a super awesome jedi master two hours after learning about the force for no other reason than she's just that good. But it is what it is, so...okay.

Rey Solo? More like Rey "I didn't know there's still good in him until I touched his penis through the force"

Snoke explained it. The light side of the Force reacted to the rise of Kylo Ren. Rey was that reaction.

Still absolutely convinced she is a Solo. The big moment for me was when Leia took the tracking beacon off Poe. She didn't even ask for it, she just took it, as if desperate to be the one to keep track of her.

I also (maybe because Inwas seeing what I wanted to see) think that before she wiped away the mist to reveal her parents, the face was initially Leias before changing to Reys.

So bad writing then? Got it. I accept what the story is, but I will always think it's weak and Rey is the Mary Sue of the saga.

Chill. It's just a difference of opinion. You like this because you'd like Rey and Kylo to mate and I dislike it because it of all the reasons I've already stated. We could both be disappointed after episode 9 comes out. Maybe in two years we could resume the debate or both be let down together?

No - I said ReyLo would happen in some capacity because of my reading of TFA, not because I wanted it for some vague reason. It did happen to some extent and made perfect sense. I can’t see there being a romance between them now. I’m fine with that.

Nothing can disappoint me other than a poorly made film. Rey Solo and Skywalker is dead - and that means there isn’t going to be a terrible plot hole. I’m delighted with the direction RJ took the story.

I also never said Rey and Ben would mate. In fact I have said that this trilogy will see the end of the Skywalker family for good.

    Another possibility Regarding Rey’s parentage:

No one should believe what we are told in the movie - that Rey’s parents were scrapyard dealers who sold her off. When she has her ‘cave’ experience and she saw herself mirrored infinite times, both she and we (the audience) were led to believe she was going to come face to face with the answer regarding her heritage, only for Rey to ultimately come face to face with... herself. There was a very important message here. To me this is a communication that Rey is her own parent - she is a pure manifestation of the Living Force (another Anakin Skywalker basically) which would explain her incredible power.

It needs to be remembered that in The Last Jedi, Rey is repeatedly told she is “nobody” and “no-one”. We need to think about those words. “No-Body”. Remember what happened to Luke at the end end of movie when he died and merged with the force? His body disappeared and he became One with the force. He became “no body”. So I take Rey being told she is “no body” and “no one” as a Buddhist type analogy - she represents the Force, which exists outside of the self, outside of the ego and outside the body.
