    Yeah I liked what I wrote but I also realse this isn't a spolier thread and I dropped a few bits of spoiler stuff in there, without really thinking. if you could ammend my quote, or just put it in a spoiler tag I'd appreciate that as I don't want to ruin the move for anyone.

    Tbh if there weren’t plot holes galore with it. Rey Solo could’ve been a cool story, a reverse Luke and Leia.

    Yes Rey Skywalker/Solo would be grace in this situation. Rey revealed to be somehow lost in tragedy, and is lost daughter of Leia and Han, or Lost daughter of Luke and some Force sensitive women....this will bring new life for ep IX.

    But even I now understand this possibility holds so big plot holes that ordinary public would be dissatissfied because of obvious plot holes.

    Ep IX should have been Leia's episode. Leia should have been second Skywalker in ep IX and balancing factor, a mother of bad boy which became evil beast, alive and active in episode IX.

    There is no Leia anymore, and we are left with ReyLo shipment, which is BTW so expectable that its a flopp in this moment already because it would be most predictable relationship in history of cinematography, or an ending of Skywalkers.

    Thank you, I didn't want to ruin the film for anyone but I've been on the spoiler thread so long I forgot there were non-spoiler ones.

    as for back on topic- I feel like the most predictable route they could have taken is making Rey Lukes daughter.

    I do not think making Rey-Kylo Ren a romance is predictable. I think for a long time that was considered impossible, only slightly more likely on screen than Finn-Poe (which says a lot about Holywood).
    I don't think it will happen anyway, I think there will just be hints of it. I think its more likely they will work together as force users and teachers to build a better galaxy. weather they are in love or not doesn't matter. but I think some redemption for Ren is necessary.

    But Reylo is expected, however they make this, the end will be...expected.

    Maybe now I could be undestand why I think Reylo makes ep IX galactic Titanic.

    People will go to see expected romance at end. And ,I do not argue, it will sell the film.

    But Force is my withness, I didn't ever in my life wanted or expected this is how one Star Wars triology should end.

    Hear hear! I want to meet Ben solo at some point!

    I think romance might be on the cards tho. The whole force bond dynamic in Xiii is probably gonna be a part of XI. JJ won’t be able to resist writing another of his amazing romances!

    Ehh I find galactic Titanic funny and all. But I fear if we had another director than Abrams (or even Treverrow-can’t stand the dude after the abomination that was Jurrasic World) then it might’ve been an interesting arc. But with him, if it happens, it’s gonna be a very by the numbers love story a la “love redeems” type. Or death redemption!

    by only a small percentage of the viewing population. most people don't seem to see it coming. (if it is).

    THIS. i still don't care about the rest, though i have no objection to a happy ending.
    i honestly feel bad for people who take this stuff so seriously they don't hope for a happy ending.
    this is a fantasy story. let it follow the fantasy tropes. we need more hope in the world right now.

    Yeah thats one of the things I worry about. I don't think JJ is good at writing 'Love' between characters he always makes it cliche. He's actually not my top choice for a director of XI if the film goes the more deep character study type of way.

    I'd prefer Del Toro, or J.A Boyona as they seem warmer as film makers, more about heart. J.J is a very cold director.

    I certainly didn’t see it coming. I thought it had a small possibility, but that Finnrey had more set up in TFA. They had more scenes together etc.

    Maybe Hope will win, or the black and white bear of despair will! (Video game reference).

    I think it’ll be bittersweet, like original OT ending.

    Del toro would be amazing! Shape of water is a fantastic film-romance and a good story and acting.

    Maybe JJ will put Rey in a bikini and have her stand in front of Kylo and ask to change while the ship burns around them...

    i think it's time for us to stop equating "dark" with good.
    look at what that's done to the WB/DC universe.
    people are hungry for Thor: Ragnarok because we need light like we need the sun.

    TLJ will almost certainly have dark moments and leave us on a precipice, but i can't imagine Lucasfilm will ultimately let the Dark win.

    No not dark. Bittersweet. Hope can still win, and brightly, but with a caveat. TLJ seems quite dark, and maybe it’s building up to Ben redemption with a twist. But then we have JJ so we may have 100% good ending after all.

    Uh he's just so bad at that. Even the Spock-Uhura thing, when they are arguing all the time. I feel like JJ has no real understanding of romance or human intimacy.

    I like the idea that for ROTJ they wanted to get David Lynch to direct. I'd love to see the 'art' of the film pushed a little and I think Del Torro is a good mix of Holywood blockbuster and a more nuanced sensibility.

    I mean he's no Jim Jarmusch when it comes to 'arty' films but Del Torro is solid.

    Maybe Rey/Ben will be right up his street then! They'll argue like an almost divorced married couple whenever they meet up in the film, instead of having epic battles.

    I can picture it now...

    "first battle in IX"

    Ren:Rey! Why you break up our force bond? You made me lonely..."whines"

    Rey:You upset me Kylo! You're a bad man! And you stink! Plus you killed my mentor! That too!

    Ren:That was last time! We can get back together. Come on Reeeeey!

    (Cue Poe Hux and Finn in the background looking at eachother and shaking heads).

    if Rey and Ben become a thing, i would hope that they would find balance and mutual support and gentleness--all the things they have lacked in their lives.
