I loved this film from beginning to end. I'm not a film critic. I don't go to cinema every weekend, but for films I really want to see, and by far, Rogue One exceeded my expectations. I liked TFA but this Star Wars film really hit home. Being a big fan of ANH since I was 7 years old. Seeing Tarkin on the screen again blew my mind. Tarkin was the only one beside the Emperor who had Vader on a leash and after seeing, Vader's corridor scene, I have much more respect for Tarkin. Princess Leia is that spunky rebel that stood up to Tarkin and Vader. She was sandwiched between them and she showed no fear. She showed bravery to her captures and never flinched once. Seeing her again on the big screen with those plans in her hands was really cool. I didn't think they were going to connect the films so closely but when I heard it was 15 minutes before ANH, I wondered; are we going to see Leia, r2, 3po, and the Tantive IV? And we did so no complaints here! I remember when I was in art school, drawing from the nude model and then drawing from our imaginations, my fellow artist recounted how much we loved Star Wars. How much we wanted to live in that world. Some of us became artist with aspirations of working for Lucas film and Disney. Even the prequels didn't hinder our love for Star Wars. As we drew we spoke like Gungans making fun of Jar Jar.

Yeah that theme carried some synchronicity with me as I just gifted the marvelous diorama book You Are Stardust to a four-year-old niece (and scored a beautiful self-illustrated picture book in return)!

I was seeing themes of rebirth, metamorphosis, burn bright/burn out, beauty/power in the core etc. everywhere.
Classic. K-2SO echoed a few elements in my mind...

Bohdi was my favorite out of the gate: something about his earnestness and his humility really resonated with me.
and then i loved Baze and Chirrut as a team. they were awesome!

i'm still processing. so many feelings and they're all over the place at the moment.

was sad that this did not happen:

Did somebody else noticed that the Star Wars Rebels theme sounded when the Rebel fleet appeared - like 5 seconds before spotting the Ghost?

I really wasnt happy in all with the film. It was good but not like 'OH MY DAMN!!!" it felt simple. Just knowing what the outcome of the film is didnt help me liking it. It was a safe film for Disney. I "hope" im not the only one who thinks the movie wasnt great but. When I was in the theater I felt like everyone was just waiting for Vader. I cant say there was one thing i did like, maybe when they called General Syndulla, chopper scene, Bail's Jedi help scene, I cant think of anything else cause it didnt stick out to me. here are a few things i didnt like.

    DISLIKE
-Vader ripping blast at the end, was alil too much due to the fact he is the strongest person in the film and to go from a hell to dialing it down in ANH it too much. that scene was alil too much for anyone to handle him. the only thing stopping him was the damn door.
    - Saw should of had a bigger role. too quick and acted alil crazy.
    - The "cameos" you kno what im talking about. basically at the end it was too cheezy. with Vader, showing Artooie/treepio, and the whole Leia. The ending was cheezy and how ANH starts off it so mixed.
    - Didnt get to see the royal guard Blast blast up.
    - I felt like the movie ended when Bail scene happen cause he basically said he knows what to do and who can help so basically the plans wasnt a big deal if they wanted the "Jedi friend" who can help had to be in the R1 film.
    - They cut a few scenes that i was looking for but i understand the reshoot and that they acutally forgot how ANH was basically the base of the film. Jyn had a few scene running and they never shown.

Here is what I do like: They die in the end which means they of course are not apart of ANH. I wanted that to happen and it did. and now that Saw is on Rebels, then to me Rebels is a far more interesting SW story cause it stands alone as another story that is apart of the episodes. oh and kinda like the Tarkin view but they are walking a thin line with the whole CG.

In all it isnt the best film to me (id say myself) for SW to go another route. I can see Boba Fett and maybe a Han Solo film cause it there own story to its own. an Obi-Wan film to me will be off and rumors of an Luke film doesnt go well with me. They should of made a film on Jedi/SITH battles, Pre PT films or films like the KOR and the failed Jedi academy. I had my "hopes" up and the force was not strong in R1(to me) how about yall...

Something I cant stop thinking about:
When the main dish is installed on the death star, it partially juts out from the main space station..
what do you guys think happened between the few days/weeks between this and a new hops for it to be uniform?

Rogue One is an excellent Star Wars movie, but it's a PERFECT sequel to Catalyst

The extended chess match between Orson and Galen (with Tarkin constantly screwing with the odds) got the ultimate checkmate when Krennic was killed by the very weapon he spent years creating and fired by his nemesis within the very Empire
