RUMOR - Future of the Franchise

If they make a trilogy on the old republic, my dreams will then come true

 

I'll echo what I said on the other thread (not created about this specifically, just where this rumor was mentioned off-hand): I feel the trilogies could be nice and beneficial to the series... it's the number of spin-offs contained in the rumor that worry me. Seems like massive overkill on that part. To be honest I thought it was a bit much when it was rumored to be just two spin-offs, to be released in between the films of the ST.

But... cautiously optimistic.

 

Well, if this is true, then I will be 43 years old when Episode 12 hits the cinemas. Of course I will be there, but man!
I can't but wonder, if I will reach an really old age and my offspring will go to cinema on Star Wars Episode 20.

But I really do wish, that what chronologically starts with the Prequels, will be wrapped up and end in self-contained Saga.
Then, they can make some other saga in the Star Wars universe. It can be like Gundam, but please, do not go the alternate universe path.l

 

I am hopeful that this is a sign of something good.

I tend to love the idea of more content. But I don't want diminished content. The problem is that when you have your favorite food you crave something else or worse it becomes stale. Thus the quality is still high but the elation and satisfaction would lessen.

 

Of course its overkill and of course I will be here searching for spoilers in 2026!

 

Is it overkill? Perhaps, but seeing how much of Star Wars' expansive EU was wiped out, it would only add to the lore quickly and with great detail. But let's just see where The Force Awakens takes us first. Good success from it will hopefully lead to even greater success.

I'm really fascinated with this rumored movie schedule of new SW movies through 2031. Especially episodes 10-12 coming in 2027-2031.

I thought I would take a closer look at this:

2018-Han Solo spinoff about how Han met chewie and won the Falcon from Lando

2020-Red Five-spinoff about Rogue Sqadron in ST era
2021-The Old Republic part I-The adventures of the Old Jedi Order thousands of years before ANH
2022-Spinoff possibly the first in a spinoff trilogy about either Obi-Wan's or Darth Vader's adventures pre-ANH
2023-The Old Republic-Part II
2024-spinoff
2025-The Old Republic-Part III
2026-Spinoff
2027-Episode X-the further adventures of Rey(Daisy ridley),Finn(John Boyega) and Poe Dameron(Oscar Issac) piloting the Millennium Falcon in the first in a new trilogy of adventures in the Rebuilt New Republic era many years after Episode IX and the death of Luke,Han and Leia
2028-Spinoff about Lando or Leia before ANH?
2029-Episode XI
2030-Spinoff of Luke's adventures between ANH & TESB or shortly after ROTJ?
2031-Episode XII-Final SW episode ever about the defeat of the final threat to the New Republic

It must be Boba Fett finally getting his spin-off movie.

 

There's no such thing as overkill in entertainment. As long as something is good, people will want to see/hear/play it.

-A Old Republic Trilogy would be cool. Finally Jedi-Army vs. Sith Army?
-Please no Yoda movie, I could handle a pre-episode 1 movie where he trains someone. But NO ORIGIN MOVIE FOR YODA!!! His mysticism is what makes him so cool.
-Obi-Wan "Dark Times" Trilogy, I wants it yesterday!!!
-Han Solo spin-off, I could see an origin movie (or two/three) for Han. Him dropping out of the academy, busting out Chewie, just being a Badass and being up to no good. With him ending in the Cantina (I know cheesy, but bite me )
-Bounty Hunters, eh don't really care for it. I'd go see it, but I don't want Boba to go work for the Rebels. If you want Boba in the rumored movie about the stolen Death Star plans, have him be Vader's right hand man. (I would love for it to star Vader, but that probably won't happen because of the fear for Fan-backlash. Damn you fellow SW-Fans!)
-No recast Luke movies, I know I'm prolly in the minority here. But a recast Luke would upset me more then a recast Han. I don't want any prequels or midquels for any Skywalkers. Leave that to the books, comics, games, etc.

 

It would be cool if in the SST that they loosely base it on NJO and maybe feature the GFFA face an alien invasion. Perhaps an older Rey,Finn and Poe Dameron will face and alien invasion after the death of Luke and co. in Episodes X-XII. That would be awesome! Bring on 2027!!!

 

How about bring on December 2015?
