The latest exclusive from Bespin Bulletin claims that Ahsoka cast member Mary Elizabeth Winstead is playing renowned Rebel hero Hera Syndulla.

Fan speculation regarding Mary Elizabeth Winstead's role in the series has been running rampant for months following the teaser shown to Star Wars Celebration audiences, which contained a shot of several characters from behind walking inside what looked like the Ghost. Hera was clearly seen there, and with Winstead's role being kept under wraps, fans started to point out she could make a pretty convincing Hera. Moreover, Winstead is a recognizable face on the same level as Rosario Dawson, plus they worked together in Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, so there's a fair amount of pre-existing chemistry there which could be exploited for the relationship between Ahsoka and Hera, who already went on some adventures together in Star Wars Rebels.

As always, take this exciting bit of information with a grain of salt until other sources back it up. But if Winstead is indeed playing the role of our favorite Twi'lek pilot, it appears that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are going all in with this show. Filming on the series reportedly ended last month, and now we only have to wait for the marketing to kick off around spring, likely after The Mandalorian season 3 airs all its episodes. However, we could be seeing at least Ahsoka and Sabine Wren there before their series comes around, especially if we take into account that both characters have reasons to show up in Din Djarin's show -- after all, who expected Ahsoka to appear in The Book of Boba Fett alongside Luke Skywalker?! But this last bit is just us speculating.

The cast of Ahsoka includes Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) portraying the titular character, Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Guns Akimbo) playing Sabine Wren, Eman Esfandi (King Richard) as Ezra Bridger, Hayden Christensen reprising the role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader after Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ray Stevenson (The Clone Wars) and Ivanna Sakhno (The Spy Who Dumped Me) in unknown roles.

Stay tuned for more news on Ahsoka and the rest of 2023's Star Wars series in the coming weeks.

Everything, I've seen her in I really like! The last film was KATE, which was pretty good. I haven't watched all her films, she was the best part of Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey as the Huntress, that film has allot of issues, (the DCU has allot issues I hope they can repair it...) I would have loved to see her dressed as the actual Huntress... she has come a long way from Scott Pilgrim which was the first film I saw her in. I hope this pans out.

With that said, Freddie Prince Jr. can play Kanan. I don't think they need to find a younger actor. He looks young for his age, a fellow martial arts, keeps active, I hope to see him in flashbacks.

    Amazing news for Rebels fans!

I hope, Hope, HOPE this rumor is true. I absolutely loved her starring role in the limited TV series, Braindead. Then I thought she was awesome again in Fargo.

I never in a million years would have thought of her as Hera Syndulla but, if true, I suspect this will be some inspired casting. Mary Elizabeth possesses the kind of charm and magnetic charisma that could transform animated Hera into yet another live-action superstar. The very notion of the three talented actresses playing Ahsoka, Sabine, and Hera together in live-action gives me chills.

Great actress with a magnetic presence. She was great in Cloverfield Lane and Death Proof. Yet another great reason why I'm totally amped for this series. Bring on the green face paint and lekku.

Lord Phanatic hit upon what makes this actress special: Her magnetic presence.

I've seen her in a number of different roles and in each case she made her character captivating. While I have been looking forward to a live-action version of Hera Syndulla and curious about who would play her, this news -- IMO -- changes the whole game going forward. I liken it to the same way Timothy Olyphant brought the character of Cobb Vanth to life.
