Nah, I think he had a good point, but I think the light saber fights in the OT style is better than the prequal style.

 

Agreed, prequel Lightsaber duels were trying a bit too hard.

The thing was what about the "I have the high ground" bantha poodoo? A monumental crappy ending for the lightsaber duel...

 

I thought Sam Jackson needed to back to acting school after his lifeless, cardboard performance as Mace DuNothing.

But then again, everyone looks and sounds bad in a Lucas written/directed film.

 

This. All of the sudden Lucas realized that there was no reason why Obi-Wan should be able to defeat Anakin, considering how lousy Obi-Wan did against Dooku (twice), and how he barely survives Grevious... but Obi-Wan has to win. So, the simplest combat principle comes to mind: high ground advantage. Unfortunately... it contradicts Obi-Wan vs Maul.

The prequels have to be remade.

I just came from a thread on the Cantina titled "Haters gonna hate" and some posters in it questioned how or why anyone could bash TFA.

Then I'm in this thread where a lot of people are bashing the PTs. lol. But that seems to be the passion of Star Wars for ya.

 

Mr. Jackson is right. Rey should have been trained with a lightsaber before being able to defeat an experienced duellist like Ren - even if he was wounded.

 

I think it had to do with cutting out certain things from the duel as well as the unfinished effects that were cut and stuff like that, yes, the line COULD have been better written, but Ewan McGregor sold the s h I out of that line .

But what if she was? How did she use a Jedi mind trick on a strormtrooper if she's never been trained before? I assume that the next film will delve into who Rey was and my guess is that she was trained as a Jedi before she was abandoned on Jakku.

Anyways, I agree with the sentiment of the quote. Of course they both need more training. Keep in mind, we have no idea how much training Kylo actually has. (Snoke reinforces this, with his critique to Hux) And we can't be certain how much Rey was able to harness the Force, and empower her novice-looking attacks. I'm thinking that if she can turn back a mind probe, she can probably use a lightsaber better than most.

Personally, I liked the duels in the PT, because it showed how elite Saber duels would be more of a chess match.

My favorite Duel though? Kylo and Finn. I just LOVED how he beat Finn down into the ground with his strikes. Everything was raw and unpolished, but so powerful!

Seriously, three of the worst films of all time. They just get worse with each viewing.

 

While looking at videos of guys who didn't like this movie(trying to figure out why), I came across this video. He doesn't directly on the choreography aspect of TFA but more what he wanted to see in a broader sense in the lightsaber department.
