OFFICIAL NEWS SDCC 2015: Lucasfilm's Panel Discussion Thread

Well, I'm not complaining. It's amazing music, and a real treat to hear it performed live. Those people got their money's worth for that panel, that's for sure.

Also, I hope the negativity of this past week can be put into some perspective now. It's not doom and gloom when things don't go the way we, as fans, pre-ordain them to go. I think this was a good night.

 

Guys we need a transcript of the panel! Where do we start looking?

 

I think it's especially telling that Kasdan pretended to mishear the name as "Darth Vegas". They're trying to throw us off the trail.

By the way, what can we expect now for D23? just a poster?

I expect nothing from D23. Theme park Star Wars attraction plans maybe.
I feel like we are going to be in the dark relying on controlled "leaks" all summer. Its maddening.

I kept expecting them to surprise us with some new music too. That concert was kind of a letdown. If you go to a pops program at your local symphony, you'll hear the same stuff.

So outside of a cool Ford appearance, JJ and the mouse gave us nothing at all....hahaha

Maybe some can stop with the blind/deaf/dumb hero worship now????

Or at least pump the breaks on blindly loving anything and everything you hear????

A "Star Wars concert" was the big reveal?? And no new music was played????

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about.

It was a pretty amazing night. Got some reveals, but not too much. And hearing the music performed live is worth more than the price of admission. As for the rest of what you said, perhaps sleep on it and try again?

And you'll be on the opening night screaming like a child when the lucasfilm logo appears in front of you..so who cares? there are still 5 months to go, it is not like they won't show anything in a near future..

I agree. I mean we have already gotten two trailers and we are promised at least one more trailer in the fall. We might even get a second trailer before the movie comes out in December. Furthermore, we will be given books (Aftermath), comics (Shattered Empire) and video games (Uprising) in September that are somehow related to the movie. We might have hoped for more information, but we should not complain. After all, the speculating and guessing is part of the fun.

 

Ok. I just got back and I'm still trying to absorb what I saw. I was up at 430am and it's now 1030pm. I spent most of the last 2 days waiting in lines or sitting in hall H. My brain is a little fried so I apologize.

The behind the scenes footage was amazing. In fact it brought me to tears. We've all seen it by now so I want go into that.

The panel was great and the concert afterward was an amazing treat that capped a once in a lifetime experience. There was no TFA music. I was under the impression there would be.

Couple quick things that stuck out for me during the panel -

JJ and kasdan gushed all over each other. JJ really went into how much care they took in creating the story and characters and emphasized that just because an idea is fun or cool it doesn't mean it's good. Everything they did had to make sense and further the story in a worthy way.

Harrison Ford was very gracious and gushed about the story and the direction. He seemed to become emotional at one point. IN MY OPINION I got the impression he was done with star wars after this. He also seemed to be showing some physical deficits. He seemed to have some kind of nerve damage to the left side of his face and had a limp.

The Gleeson confirmed the the first order base is called "Starkiller base". Pictures of Gleesons General Hux strongly invoked Tarken from ANH.

Adam Driver said Kylo Ren feels morally correct in his motivations and that he isn't simply just an evil character.

JJ said they are still editing but have a rough cut of the film. He said they just aren't ready for a trailer until the fall. But he fell all over himself saying we really deserved something special for comic con. Hence the amazing concert with the cast and fireworks after the panel.

 

I legit cried. Was able to choke back for both teasers....not this.
