Are we simply talking about Palpatine? Or an era before Palpatine? #MysteryBoxInFullEffect

Today leak seems to confirm they are a brand new F.O. creation.
If so, the interesting question is who between Kylo and Hux created them.

And it may be Hux. He may be the one nostalgic of the old Empire.

Possibly... but it may be an honor guard... special forces type term for Kylo's personal troops. He may have named them that.

I think it looks cool. But I think it is nothing more than a merchandising opportunity. A red Stormtrooper. Hell, this is a Hot toys figure.
As a collector of the Black Series 6” figures I am calling this a marketing cash grab. Like Captain Phasma. They will be in the movie but I won’t be expecting any revelations about who they are.

Something to get the 501st group to buy also.

    That’s just my .02 worth.

MSW dropped alot of new info/spoilers for the Sith Troopers:
    http://makingstarwars.net/2019/07/t...-it-means-in-star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalker/

"For a while now us Star Wars fans have been reading about hearing about what’s out in the unknown regions and “the beyond.” What that means has been kind of a mystery and part of the fun of the sequel trilogy era. Now today I have some pretty interesting rumors about what all of this actually means and what it might amount to if the rumors are correct. I should say that many of the things in this article have been corroborated by other tidbits in the past, both public and private. I think a lot of these disparate facts are coming together now.

The Sith Stormtroopers have been hidden away in the unknown regions. It is apparently hellish in those areas. The universe is “not entirely stable.” The area is dangerous and full of peril. Since Emperor Palpatine’s death the fleet has been dodging gravity wells and surviving in the wilderness of space in the unknown regions waiting to be found and to finish their mission.

This is why Kylo Ren needs the Wayfinder device, I’m told. The fleet is the key Kylo Ren needs to unlock Palpatine’s legacy. Kylo gets this device from an alien that looks like a spider with an infant’s face (check out Jedi Praxis’ fantastic report which I can 100% validate) that acts as an oracle. This is sort of a Pandora’s Box for Kylo it seems as he thinks he’s getting himself something powerful that answers to him but Palpatine is not so willing to share his toys with anyone. Palpatine’s contingency plans weren’t to make sure Darth Vader’s grandson received his inheritance.

The red Sith Stormtroopers which belong to Palpatine are hidden away inside a massive fleet, probably as a final act so upon his resurrection he could dominate the universe once more. However, the Death Star II wasn’t Palpatine’s last project. These Star Destroyers are equipped with “planet destroying weapons like the one on the Death Star itself.” Our buddy at the fantastic Bespin Bulletin is also releasing some images of the Sith Jump Troopers that fly in the Red TIE Fighters that belong to this fleet. These guys eject from their red TIE Fighters and rocket out and continue fighting from what I’ve heard and it all links up to survival in the unknown regions. These guys are not cowards with armor like our heroes are used to dealing with. I was told a few shots from The Clone Wars regarding Mando rocket pack stuff are pretty much reworked for this some of this movie and it is supposedly fantastic. Head over to Bespin Bulletin for his sketches of the troopers when they post in a short while. The questions I’m left with are the designs and how the fleet the survived and procreated 30 plus years later. Are they clones? How did they get their modern amor that matches The First Order’s designs? It seems like all of this fleet business is how we get Palpatine back. My assumption is Kylo doesn’t appreciate the fleet belonging to him but its also how he learns he’s part of a bigger plot to find Emperor Palpatine. My assumption is Snoke told Kylo about the fleet and withheld the reason they were looking for it or didn’t know either. Is Allegiant General Pryde a First Order guy or is he a Sith Fleet guy? When The Sith Fleet returns and unlocks a lot of secrets about Palpatine, is this also how we learn Rey’s connection to Palpatine’s plans?

Hopefully more is revealed soon. Keep checking back for updates and we’ll make sure to include Bespin Bulletin’s posts when they release their Jump Trooper art! Keep checking back for more updates! We have a lot of really cool information lined up and as soon as we can verify it we’ll share it!"

    About MSW leak..

It doesn’t fit well with another leak coming from LF itself

The description of the Sith Stormtroopers (at SDCC if I remember correctly) had them as an elite FO squadron. So... I honestly don’t know. Something doesn’t feel right in that report. Beside we should always pay attention to Jason words. Some are things he’s been told. Others are speculations on his part.

The Sith Trooper text read: In its ultimate push towards galactic conquest, the First Order readies an army of elite soldiers that draw inspiration and power from a dark and ancient legacy.

I don't think that contradicts Jasons rumor in any way?

At least the bad guys have to do something this time. But it does kinda sound like "Dark Empire" to me.

It depends on whether you liked "Dark Empire" or not. But so far the ST has some eery similarities with that very story.

We should open a thread about it. Some are pretty obvious. Others less. Many may come with TROS.

    @Angelman well...

According to MSW, the Sith stormtroopers are a creation of Sidius. So much so that they waited for 30 years to be brought back in the galaxy. That to me doesn’t sound coherent with the description (that has them a FO’s recent creation. In addition in the MSW report, it looks like Kylo struggles a lot to take control of them. We don’t even know if he does.

So unless I got something wrong from that MSW post, these are the reasons as to why I believe something doesn’t fit well with the little that has came up from LF.

No where in the Sith Trooper description does it say these troupers are a recent creation; only that the FO are readying them. That could easily mean, "bringing them out of the reserves" or whatever.

After seeing this post from Jason I remembered reading on Wookieepedia about a Carbonite Sith Army. I'm torn between this being real or this being a reference to an obscure cut scene from an obscure Star Wars role-player-game.

Let's imagine for a second a scene that looks like it is something out of one of the Engineers' ships from Alien where we see row upon row of a terra cotta army frozen in carbonite, waiting to awaken. The architecture, technology, and design of the room feels ancient and forgotten like these soldiers are from an ancient army. Now let's imagine that this could have been one of the things Palpatine was looking for in the Uknown Region. And now, they have awoken.

In Legends, this scenario actually exists as part of the Star Wars: Empire At War: Forces of Corruption game. According to Wookieepedia, soon after the fall of Endor, a Nightsister finds this hidden ancient army by following a star map she finds on a Sith holocron which seems to have once been in the possession of Jabba the Hutt on Felucia and in Palpatine's vault on Coruscant at different times. With that holocron, she accesses the chamber and attempts to awaken the army. Unfortunately, the story in the article ends there, but not before adding an interesting nugget that among these frozen soldiers is an unknown Sith who is also frozen in carbonite and next to this Sith is an urn with unknown contents with a lightsaber resting on top. At the center of the room is a giant statue of a cloaked figure with the symbol of the Sith during the Jedi Civil War on it.

Maybe this rumor comes from this idea/story as a plant or maybe the creative team is recycling this concept for this movie.

Maybe a Jedi Civil War tie-in gets us that Revan Old Republic Trilogy from Benioff and Weiss.

The story may begin like: The sith troopers have awoken to serve the rightful heir to the Sith Empire, but that is not Kylo Ren.

Kylo Ren is definitely open to having a clone army, as we saw in TFA, but they may not be interested in serving him. All of that could make for compelling visuals if shown. More compelling could be the room after the carbonite soldiers or the Sith have been freed so that we only see the empty shells of their slabs remaining. Either the army is there and the Sith is missing or the army is gone and the Sith is still there.

Who knows? It could just be a red herring and a new trooper design to sell to kids and collectors.
