Not too much of a surprise, but EW will publish this week some articles regarding Solo and its characters.

    PS.

As soon as I saw Ehrenreich in the trailers it just felt wrong.

It also explains why Disney waited so long with any clips because they knew there was a problem, hence the acting coach and re-shoots of Ehrenreich at a later stage.

He looks nothing like Han Solo, acts and moves nothing like Han Solo and clearly sounds nothing like Han Solo.

He isn't Han Solo full stop! He only got the part because he is Spielberg's protégé and part of the Disney family - it's not what you know it's who you know - nepotism at it's finest.

In closing it just reminds me of a very expensive Star Wars cosplay movie to be honest where the lead actor looks and sounds nothing like the respective character.

Shameful to say the least and I am sure Disney's damage-control is ready and waiting in the wings (especially online right now with Disney trolls smothering out dissension) to smooth the haters and negatives over, hoping that naive and gullible Star Wars fans will accept whatever they vomit out on screen.

This is the actor playing young Indiana Jones from "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles",a George Lucas' creation.
Absolutely nothing to do with Harrison Ford as well. That wasnt a problem for the show though.

Some of us here would much prefer a sort of 'continuity', where a specially chosen actor looks, sounds and behaves just like Han Solo would.

Not some cosplay Han Solo fakery that bears no resemblance whatsoever on all points.

My gut tells me he is wrong for the part, I (and many others out there not brainwashed by the mass hysteria of it all) know what is right and what isn't.

That and the fact that when Disneyfilm announced Ehrenreich was playing Han Solo, my gut told me he was immediately very wrong for the role and that it all stunk of nepotism due to the fact that he is Spielberg's protégé.

Hmmm, so the FACT that Harrison Ford had worked with Lucas before in American Graffiti and was doing carpentry on Lucas' sets when he was casting Star Wars and Lucas had him read lines with the potential Luke and Leia's as Han which eventually was suggested by producer Fred Roos which won Lucas over to cast him over the likes of Christopher Walken is a completely different scenario right?

C'mon, "thats not how (the Hollywood) works!", an inside connection gets you in the door but if the guy is lousy they will not put a potential billion $ movie on he's shoulders however tight he may be with Spielberg. By the way you do realise that JJ was Spielberg's suggestion for TFA right, so I guess there was a boycott/rejection of that movie too if not I guess for episode 9 seeing s he is returning ;)

NO actor can replace Harrison Ford but surely we have enough imagination to see another 'actor' in the role? If not then we need to maybe tap into our inner child and less our cynical jaded selves...its not that deep!

hmm, it worked with Back to the Future movies. Marty's GF Jennifer was played by Claudia Wells in the first movie but she was replaced with Elisabeth Shue for the 2nd and 3rd movie (both actress looks nothing alike). The 2nd movie started off with the same scene that ended in the first movie but they had to re-shoot that scene with Elisabeth Shue. Also people had the exact same feelings when they announced Heath Ledger was going to play The Joker in The Dark Knight and look how well it turned out. If you want to stick to SW, they re-casted Wedge Antilles in the same movie. I get your skeptical but give this dude a chance and wait until the movie has come out before you make comparisons between him and Harrison. Having watching 8 or 9 hrs of Harrison and then comparing him to Alden with a minute long clip isn't fair. Then again, you pretty much already written him off without giving him a chance.

    My take is this:

Harrison Ford is Han Solo. However, he is also Indiana Jones and he plays them both nearly the exact same.

Does Alderich look like Harrison? Not really, you'd have to hit ALL the right angles to make it so. Does he sound like Harrison? Not really all that close there either but he does have a bit of Han's cadence in the tiny bit we've seen. However, he does not have to convince me that he's Harrison Ford, he has to convince me that he's Han Solo, so for me, the questions turn to...

Does he have the world-weariness? The swagger? The confidence? The cockiness? The Snark? I'd say that in the tiny bit we've seen, he certainly has the potential to be all of that.

The part that I really don't get about the folks clinging to "He's not Harrison Ford!" is that Harrison Ford all but loathes the fact that he is involved in this saga. He came out and played nice for TFA solely due to a very large pay check. He has no loyalty to this franchise, so why cling to him like he is the be-all and end-all of a character that he hates? I wanna give the new guy a chance to do as good or better.

Harrison Ford was a covert adviser to Solo: A Star Wars Story - EW (Anthony Breznican)
    • Kennedy on Harrison meeting Ehrenreich: “It was perfect, classic Harrison,” Kennedy says, breaking into his signature low-key grumble. “‘Good kid, good kid. Really good kid.’”
    • [Kennedy] had also sent Ford the script, which she said he read and gave a thumbs-up.
    • “What [Ford] did so beautifully for Alden was he talked a lot about what he remembered when he first read Star Wars, and what George had done with Han. Who the character was and the conversations he had for so many years with George about how that character developed,” Kennedy says. “He gave Alden that kind of insight which was invaluable. There were several times in the course of making the movie where Alden would actually recount some of the things that Harrison had pointed out. I think that was really, really helpful to him.”
    • Harrison's hypothetical advice for unchosen actor in 2015: “I would say, ‘Talk to your director. Watch the movies. And welcome aboard. Make it your own.’”
    • Howard on Harrison: “Harrison’s a very thoughtful actor and an artist, and I wanted to know what he learned about the character,” Howard says. “He said that Han is always torn between that sense that he was, in a way, an orphan, and therefore both yearned for connection with people and struggled with it at the same time. I thought that was pretty interesting.”
    • “Han has survived and proven that he can survive, but he’s never sure he’s as quite as smart as he needs to be,” Howard said, recalling their conversation. “Change that. He’s not really ‘smart.’ That’s not the word he used. Han’s not as on top of it as he needs to be. So he wants to give the appearance of [control], but in fact, he’s often scrambling. I think Harrison played that beautifully, and Alden and I talked about both of those ideas a lot.”

Well, I would have been highly confused if they had confirmed how bad Ehrenreich's acting as Han Solo is... ;)

On an entirely different note...There has been some interesting comments from fandom that we never see any of the same alien species from movie to movie unless they are a recurring character. I personally haven't had an issue with this but it has been a "thing."

So far I have spied a Twi'lek and a Gran in the promo materials.

    Has anyone seen any others?
