Star Wars Battlefront 2 was one of my favorite games of all time. The new Battlefront (being in the hands of DICE) should be amazing. Can not wait.

I'm incredibly pysched for this, as I've been playing Battlefront II for kicks now and then.

While it wouldn't kill it for me, one thing I really hope they include is the multiplayer-like "instant action" thing for offline single-player gameplay. I simply like that due to the fact I don't find too much time to get online and become good enough, so as to have any real good time with real serious players. :p

It won't break the game for me though if it doesn't have it. I'm not too huge on scripted maps and all that, but I suppose it would work for a modern Battlefield-like rendition of a Star Wars game. Seeing as Battelfront I and II were basically Battleifield 1942 clones, I figure the new Battlefront will follow suit. It would really fill a Star Wars gap in my gaming cabinet, since other styles of games like The Force Unleashed or the MMORPGs don't exactly appeal to me.

I loved the original Battlefront. Played it constantly (via PC) online. I was actually up there in the rankings for a while too. My favorite map was Kamino, loved sniping on that map. 2nd fav was Geonosis. Loved the Republic Gunship. Sadly never played any of the follow up versions. If they make the new Battlefront like Call Of Duty, than I am all in.

Just saw a tweet from EA that Battlefront will be released for the Holidays 2015. Hopefully I'll have my PS4 by then.

I knew the whole "It could have a Summer Release!" thing was a bunch of bantha poodoo. :) I hope they release a little something before the Celebration VII reveal.

I never heard the summer release. I've always heard winter. Thinking summer would have been too early especially if something was in the game that has to do with Ep VII as I'm thinking I've heard. Maybe just hoping.

I was never that "wow'd" by the original Battlefront duo. I guess it just hasn't aged well for me. I just feel it very clunky and not very interesting to play.
Also, flying in that game is just plain awful, specially after the masterful flying controls in the Rogue Squadron sequels for the GameCube.
My only concern, is that this game will only be Battlefield with a Star Wars paint job... I'd really hate that. It has to feel different, and unique. That's my only true fear about the new Battlefront, which I'm so excited about.

DICE has stated multiple times that they're not making this game a Battlefield knockoff, and that they want the game to have a unique style.

I can't wait, me and my siblings used to play the first one for days. My favorite memory is trying to shoot Darth Vader with rockets and watching him deflect them like crazy lol. 2 was fun as well but I didn't get to play it as much as the first one. Two was cool though because you got to play through the story of the 501st . I just remember having a lot of fun with those games.

If the new one is even half as fun as he original it should be pretty fun. I really liked the team they picked to do it, also releasing near when the Force Awakens releases is a great idea. I personally will be buying a next gen console just to play it .

    Things I'm looking forward to:
    • Those great graphics hot damn
    • ARE YOU KIDDING?! I've been waiting almost 10 years for a new Battlefront!
    • I'm anxious to see how DICE is planning to execute the space battles since there isn't really an equivalent to them in any Battlefield games
    • Can we play as heroes again? And hopefully more maps for the heroes deathmatch than just Mos Eisley.

    Things I'm concerned about
    • I heard BF was only going to be first-person. I hope DICE checks in on all the fan responses to this rumor because most of what I've seen, most people (including me) want to at least have 3rd person be an option
    • I sure hope my computer can handle those sexy graphics...
    • I hope DICE doesn't go full Battlefield and leave us with very little options for single-player action.
    • Also heard that the game will only focus on the Rebellion and Empire and not have the Republic or CIS available. Someone please tell me this isn't true...

First point: I think their official statement was that you had the option to play either mode. The only thing I've seen indicating that it could be exclusively an FPS is a comment from a CEO mentioning that the game was an FPS and not a TPS. I think that he was just trying to promote the game as an FPS first, since those sell considerably better than TPS games. Everything else I've heard basically said that the game is designed with TPS in mind, but the alternative exists for those who prefer it.

Second point: I've heard that too; nonetheless, I'm pretty confident that they would at least include the maps of Prequel Trilogy planets given the need to feature a variety of environments (if the game only featured the Original Trilogy planets, that would basically boil down to 7-8 locations, as opposed to the dozen or so introduced in the Prequel Trilogy). Nonetheless, we'll know for certain by Celebration VII.

Not sure where you're getting your information from but newer EA games on PC are registered to Origin, even the physical copies. It was that way with BF4. I'm sure Battlefront will be the same.

But if you have a physical copy, doesn't that mean you won't have to pay for the same game more than once? You can only rent digital copies for two years before having to pony up to play again.

I've never had any issue like that. I've owned games on Origin and steam for years and years, never had to rebuy them.

Steam doesn't have that issue, but I heard that Origin does. Because it's EA.

As I said earlier I own about 15 games on origin. I have never had any issue. As for physical copies for PC, you will be required to register it through Origin and launch it thru it aswell. It's common pratice anymore, it allows them to keep everyone's games up to date.
