Star Wars: Battlefront

People should absolutely curb their expectations, but what you describe sounds pretty good to me. I didn't hate the gameplay in Battlefront 2015, I just wanted more to go with it. Honestly, as a mostly offline player, I would have been extremely happy with Walker Assault/Fighter Squadron for Bespin/DeathStar/Scarif maps, plus Battle Station from Death Star and the Infiltration mode from Scarif to all be single player Skirmish (since Skirmish was only Disc + Jakku content). To me, that would have been a significantly better game.

Otherwise, the game was beautiful, and by the end it had a decent roster of heroes and gear. If BF2 is an expanse that manages to bring this amount of single-player material (or more) at launch, I'll be much happier than I was in 2015.

I am. I've been enjoying it from the beginning. Having played the sh*t out of Battlefront 1 & 2, I actually think Battlefront EA is a much more superior game.

 

Awesome! Good to hear, I play it a few times a week still, always good fun - especially the games where you have to capture/defend the control points, the final few minutes are pure carnage as every player descends on the final control point in an attempt to hold it or take it. Bodies flying everywhere - lovely stuff

I haven't played in a while, but I still enjoy it. I think the recent DLC is pretty fantastic.

Completely agree. I miss the ol' days when you'd buy a full game and the expansion pack wouldn't cost much. I loved all 4 DLC's for Battlefront but EA/Dice are just stealing my money

I want a game where I can play all maps in a single playlist.

I want a game where all planets can be played in Skirmish.

 

Agreed. The way they chose to break up their season pass was not well planned out.

My copy has been covered in dust for about a year. I found it disappointing but got some entertainment out of it. In spite of its problems I probably would have continued to play it some but the player base (on XBOX at least) was pretty lousy. It was almost impossible to get into a good objective-based game like Droid Run or Drop Zone (which I really enjoyed) because most people didn't want to play the objective at all and were trying to boost their K/D or get achievements/challenges/bounty qualifications. Most everybody wanted to hang in the rear and snipe from a distance regardless of what the objective of the game was. Once got into a game of Drop Zone where my entire team were satisfied to camp on the other side of the map from the drops and just sit there sniping.

 

It might be better now since the player base has probably thinned out, but back then it was way too widespread for any name recognition or popping in and out of games. People who played the objective were few and far between.

The whole token system really annoyed me once I played the maps enough to realize that the tokens didn't spawn randomly, but instead in the same place every time. So it became less about luck and more about who could get to the fighter/star card/hero token fastest. I'm glad the system is being changed to encourage actually fighting the other team and playing the objective rather than beelining certain locations on the map.
