    It had never really occurred to me that the ending of ROTJ was "missing" anything, but I really like the idea of Luke walking away from the celebration. It will be interesting to see if TFA suggests that this is what happens after the credits roll in ROTJ.

    I agree it fits to his charcter, he left Yoda during his training, he told Kenobi Force Ghost that he can't kill his father and chose his own path, and foremost until ANH his destiny was defined by his family, his real family and his foster parents.
