TV spot with a few new shots but poor quality...

 

Terrible quality but a cool TV spot.

 

Best one yet.

 

Love it. What is Rey saying? Kylo failed you. I won't

 

Most interesting. For starters, Rey claiming that she's seen supposedly the Island only in dreams is fascinating. I do recall that when Kylo was probing her mind in TFA he does make mention of an island. I'm going to take a shot and guess that he was prying through her memories and in turn, this comes back. The line with Luke asking Rey who she is I find intriguing.

Unfortunately, we don't have much context as that question could very much just a simple direct question: Who are you? But have more meaning in that it could relate to potentially Luke having known who she is. And while I want to say that I doubt this given the prior trailer material, for me to derive a proper conclusion is bad due to the scant, limited evidence.


Also, what was that new line Rey spoke to Luke around mid-way; I couldn't catch that. Something interesting to note is how the trailer cuts when Rey describes in her vision light and darkness. The light being Leia which makes sense and the darkness being Luke. Now, one could argue this is referring to Luke's situation and the suffering he had endured when Kylo killed his temple. But could it imply Luke actually did some other things dark side related?


It could go ether way. I have my own theories, like for example, I suspect that Snoke wants to kill Luke is because he knew who Luke was and saw his power firsthand. Overall, this was a good TV spot. And a part of me hates myself for checking it out. Dang curiosity.

 

I really like that trailer. Luke using Maz's line of, " Who are you?" The lightsaber sparking after the rain hits it. And I could swear that shot with Daisy is reversed. With the lightsaber actually dropping instead of her raising it.

Wouldn't Luke only know him as Ben though? Would he know him as Kylo?

Rey"Kylo failed you...I won't(Luke interrupts)

Luke"Who is Kylo?"

Rey"You know the dude who wants to be like Vader?"

Luke"Ohhh...I still don't know who you are talking about."

 

Thanks. And most interesting. No doubt in reference to Luke having failed beforehand. Could it be somewhere midway through, perhaps when the topic of Luke's temple comes up and how Kylo destroyed everything?

 

Don't know. When he attacked Luke's Academy (or whatever it is being called) he may have already undertaken the name Kylo or it is yelled during the attack?
Possibly, Luke and Rey might have already had a discussion about what happened with Han and she told him what name he is using.

 

Gotta say, to me, that is the best one yet. Really digging the music with it. Also a little extra with Snoke as he closes his eyes too.

 

The more I see, the more I'm thinking Rey and Kylo are going to team up, possibly to take on Snoke. I do believe Luke's line about "not going the way you think" is him warning Rey about the dangers of the dark side, to which she replies that Kylo failed him, but she won't. I can't help but remember in ESB when Luke wanted to go rescue Han and Leia, how Yoda and Ben tried to warn him that he wasn't ready. That could be the case in TLJ. Also, I'm kinda wondering about the fight between Finn and Phasma. There's the spot in one trailer which is a close-up of Finn's face as he's struggling with her...and this reminds me of Rey and Kylo. The close up she had in TFA where she's losing the fight and suddenly the Force comes through to aid her. Possibly the same thing could happen to Finn? I'm NOT getting my hopes up, but the thought crossed my mind. Cool TV spot!!

 

A few observations. It is really weird (for me) to see Luke with the wild googley eyes... like he's a bewildered old man. I thought when we saw the first spot that it was just Luke being uncharacteristically emotional in that moment when he saw Rey's power and hearkened back to when he saw the same in Kylo. But it seems like I'm seeing that face on him alot and considering the last time we saw him he was relatively calmly facing Darth Sidious (one of the greatest Sith ever) and Darth Vader the canonical Chosen One. It's a little jarring to see him so disheveled.

It was interesting to hear some call backs in the dialogue to things mentioned in TFA, example Luke asking Rey who she was, Finn going from saying "we all need to run" in TFA to "we have to fight" in TLJ. I'm also beginning to wonder does Snoke set a trap for Rey using Kylo. Everyone is expecting this redemption arc, what if Kylo does suggest to Rey that they team up to confront Snoke and once there, he betrays her. It might explain how she ends up in the throne room to start with.

In another spot, I did see Rose operating a Skimmer which is something I speculated a while back and I still have my money on her being the one that is having a hard time driving initially.

I'm also still trying to figure out what was that giant explosion? Was that part of a First Order ship being destroyed? Whatever it was, it was massive. Also, will it be Rey in the pilot seat and Luke in the gunner seat in the MF? Do I think they franchise might go for that?

Last, two minor observations about the Finn Phasma fight. One it sounded like they used the LS sound effect when they clashed but it is clearly and unmistakably a Riot Baton that Finn is using. Also as the conflict begins, it looks like Finn is getting off the ground... I'm theorizing that he didn't actually have the baton before and he was picking it up from someone else to fight Phasma.

 

This and the one with Luke on the Falcon are the best TV spots. I think I need to freeze myself like Cartman to get these last 27 days out of the way.

 

Lor San Tekka knew Kylo, it's probably safe to assume that Luke does as well.

 

From what we have seen so far the dialogue seems a little uninspired and cheesy to me...

I hope the full movie proves me wrong...
